HTC Fuze now for sale on AT&T's web site
Well, that didn't take long -- the HTC Fuze just started trickling into AT&T retail stores, and now it's available for sale online as well. Just as we'd heard, pricing is set at $300 after rebate on a two-year contract, which makes the iPhone / BlackBerry Bold / Fuze decision all the more difficult for AT&T customers -- a dilemma we're guessing the suits in Dallas are only too happy to inflict upon the gadget geek masses. So, what's it gonna be?

Once again.... VZW is last to the game.
soobin27 @ Nov 10th 2008 11:16PM
I am seething with jealousy, stupid verizon!!
Valicore @ Nov 11th 2008 12:32AM
What is with VZW? I mean, they're REMOVING features, not adding them! How long could it really take?
Mile @ Nov 11th 2008 7:11AM
And when theirs finally comes out, it will do so with a slower processor. What I've read anyway.
tycham85 @ Nov 10th 2008 11:14PM
engadget gonna do a roundup?

The only way I can stop myself from constantly lusting after such sexy devices is to tell myself I would never get my money's worth out of them and hope I don't ever convince myself otherwise.
matt merritt @ Nov 11th 2008 12:08AM
My problem is I already have convinced myself otherwise... I just don't have the money period.
tank @ Nov 10th 2008 11:19PM
Not really a hard decision in one way if you know what OS you like:
iPhone = mini apple os
BlackBerry = RIM os
Fuze = Windows Moble
Looks aside, if you know what platform you like, then its an easy pick. Unlike if they where all running the same os, then it would be a little harder.
Just my take.
jeff318 @ Nov 10th 2008 11:20PM
AT&T is based in Dallas, not San Antonio.
Nilay Patel @ Nov 10th 2008 11:29PM
Eesh, you're right, thanks for the catch. It's even sadder because I wrote a post about the move back in June -- too many late nights!
Squid7085 @ Nov 10th 2008 11:40PM
Yeah, I was like "wait a second" then I remembered they picked up and moved down the street to Dallas.
Big Sam @ Nov 10th 2008 11:20PM
I'd order it right now if not for the fact that they wasted the top row of keys with symbols instead of numbers. Idiots.
Xerloq @ Nov 11th 2008 12:27AM
I use a Tilt as my primary email device on the go and i hate that the symbols arent there. No "$"?!?!
Josh @ Nov 11th 2008 2:44PM
Look at the tab key next to the space bar. See the $ on that same button?
Xerloq @ Dec 11th 2008 5:25PM
And it only took me a year to find it! Thanks Josh.
My nearsightedness aside - the top row is where the symbols belong!
Azuleus @ Nov 10th 2008 11:27PM
We need a more competitive price for this phone, how about the same as the iPhone ($199)? I'm assuming that's what it'll drop to for the holiday season.
searchaphone @ Nov 10th 2008 11:31PM
Hmm, this is a pretty sleek phone. I am not sure if the HTC Fuze can compete against the publicity of the G1 and the upcoming Blackberry Storm, but the design is nice. Anybody know where I can find compare mobile phone offers on the new Fuze. I like looking at websites like www.searchaphone.co.uk because then I get great phones for cheaper.
Nick8708 @ Nov 11th 2008 12:16AM
Just a tip: If you're going to plug your own site, either make it obvious you're promoting it or don't use such an obvious username and pretend like you're just some average person mention it offhand.
maveric101 @ Nov 11th 2008 4:12PM
or just don't promote your own websites at all. that's generally frowned upon here.
needaphone @ Nov 10th 2008 11:33PM
Did they remove the front facing camera? And they changed the keyboard?? BLASPHEMY, ill probably still get it tomorrow.
Valicore @ Nov 11th 2008 12:34AM
What is it with the US and front facing cameras? GDI!
Bassir @ Nov 10th 2008 11:35PM
Flash drivers are still too expensive.

Just placed my order, i had been saving my upgrade. Although im not a win mobile fan, i guess its good enough. I had an iphone, hated it because it was so restricted. So i unlocked it, sold it. I bought a nokia N95 , perfect camera for video and pics, wonderful, but typing txt messages suck on it, and the os is slowwww no apps. So i hope this will suit me well
Tina @ Nov 14th 2008 4:39PM
restricted how?
I can't decide between the G1, Storm & iPhone.
Michael @ Nov 11th 2008 12:06AM
Is this the first time AT&T has labeled an HTC device as such? I believe in the case of the Tilt and the 8xxx series of PDAs there was no HTC branding, only the AT&T logo.
Grant @ Nov 11th 2008 1:57AM
The Tilt has a HTC logo on the back of it. Middle bottomish of the battery door to be exact.
Mr_Armageddon @ Nov 11th 2008 12:41AM
Its not available on the AT&T Premiere site as an upgrade yet. Booo. I called Sales and they told me to call back tomorrow morning to try and order it then. Hopefully it will be available as an upgrade for me then. I can't waits no mores!!!
digitallysick @ Nov 11th 2008 1:34AM
I was able to get the "upgrade" price, the upgrade price is the same as a new customer price , no different , i checked upgrade, selected fuze, added to cart, and done
Daniel @ Nov 11th 2008 12:17AM
I had the 8525 with touchFLO, ifonz & cube installed and wasn't impressed then. Whats the big difference??
iofthestorm @ Nov 11th 2008 4:17AM
This one has significantly better specs and actually has 3D drivers and is better all around. Your 8525 is two generations old.
Phoenix @ Nov 11th 2008 5:13AM
Plus this is TouchFLO 3D, not just TouchFLO.
Captain Drew @ Nov 11th 2008 12:17AM
Does anyone know what the user experience is for Mac users who run Windows Mobile OS?
I'm really intrigued by this gizmo...
oliver hart @ Nov 11th 2008 12:35AM
I'm not positive but i think syncing a winmo device with osx can be a pain. Otherwise they aren't awful. If you have a mac, are interested in an AT&T device, why don't you go iPhone? Just curious.
Surur @ Nov 11th 2008 2:56AM
WM does not sync with OSX natively, but there are free software that will make it happen, and which will let it sync with itunes.
The Touch Pro has disk mode, so you can drag and drop your media easily. It also supports unprotected AAC.
Its probably the best to do everything OTA, so sync with a free exchange server.
crow610 @ Nov 11th 2008 12:19AM
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!
peil @ Nov 11th 2008 12:23AM
Ok, so why to get it from AT&T is the question?
Sprint offers 900 min and
# Data: Web surfing, email, BlackBerry Internet Services (BIS), GPS Navigation, Music Premier, TV Premier, NFL Mobile Live, NASCAR Sprint Cup MobileSM
# Direct Connect: Direct Connect and Group Connect (for capable phones)
# Messaging: Text, pictures and video
# Talk: Unlimited mobile to mobile, night calling and weekends starting at 7 p.m., nationwide long distance and no roaming charges
FOR 89.99
ATT offers 900 for $59.99, but if you want to use your and get it for 299 you have to add the $30 PDA plan = $89.99
BUT the PDA service does not include txtmsg, no video, no pics and also your nights starts at 9pm.
Please let me know if I'm wrong but we have a winner here, and I think it is Sprint
NumberXII @ Nov 11th 2008 12:30AM
Does the Sprint plan include tethering?
Valicore @ Nov 11th 2008 12:31AM
One reason for AT&T is that I (and others like me) who go between the US and Asia or Europe more than a few times a year like not having to switch to a different phone. With this you can get it unlocked and just keep a SIM card for whatever country you to tend to travel to. The other reason is that Sprint has crappy coverage in some places. I chose Sprint because of SERO, and luckily I live in the SF Bay Area where the have great coverage. Head down to L.A. and things get iffy.
Josh @ Nov 11th 2008 2:44PM
I think a lot of people go with AT&T if they get a discount through their work, that, and everyone I talk to on a regular basis is on AT&T so I can go with the lowest minute plan and have plenty stocked up with the roll over. To each their own, whatever suits their needs.
Falcom @ Nov 11th 2008 12:38AM
does this do anything any of the bazillion other win mobile phones don't do? Or is this just another form factor flavor of the week?
Colin Potter @ Nov 11th 2008 2:24AM
It is, in fact, the first WinMo phone to give me wood.
bjsguess @ Nov 11th 2008 2:43AM
The differences between this and a standard WinMo phone will lie in the UI. The TouchFlo interface is decidedly more finger friendly that WinMo 6.1 (out of the box). That said, you can run dozens of different apps to create your own interface. Literally, if you want your WinMo UI to look or behave a certain way there is a cab file somewhere out there already. The versatility of WinMo cannot be touched by any other phone OS.
cool @ Nov 11th 2008 2:22AM
FOR AT&T USERS: is it optional to have or have not a pda plan for fuze? coz i dont want a pda plan, it'll just cost me mre mnthly. pls reply to diz b4 i buy a fuze
digitallysick @ Nov 11th 2008 2:43AM
I didn't have to check the data plan, it seems optional for me when i selected upgrade
