Keian Japan P71-A2-JP: part photo printer, part photo frame, all modern marvel
Just when you thought you'd seen it all, along comes a photo printer that is also a photo frame (or vice versa) to completely rearrange your concept of reality. The P71-A2-JP from Keian Japan houses a 7-inch, 480 x 234 LCD for doing the photo frame thing, complete with SD card and Memory Stick support, a USB host plug and even a little bit of MP3 playback. What's surprising is that there's a full-on photo printer in back to print out those shots worth cherishing a bit longer than ten seconds on a repetitive cycle. The 300 dpi prints probably won't blow minds, and that screen is depressingly low-res, but all-in-all this is a pretty neat little solution to a problem you didn't have.

So, $25million, divided between 10,000 homes over 10 years = $250 dollar per household per year. That's a pretty good deal, I'm paying more than double that currently.
what?
...what in the hell are you talking about? :-S
Oh...I see...nuclear power plant....water....etc...
Methinks you are in the wrong thread.
That may be true only if you rearrange the data per household without regressing the compost overhead caused by the back channal timelag.
Or maybe not?
By te way , I kinda like that photo thing.
Come the day I will have a few bucks to waste I may even bg one of them.
Ok, not bad but I'll pass.
BUT I still want my voice operated computer/tv/printer thing like in Blade Runner where I can keep telling it to 'enhance' and give me a hard copy.
So keep working boys ... not there yet.
Yes master.
DIYers can easily attache a digi-photoframes to their photo printer, result probably looks much better and would cost a lot less.
It looks like the enclosure is made out of old acoustic ceiling tiles...
Hmmm. Maybe a better idea would be to REVERSE the print idea so you can scan your old school photos into the device for display. Grandma would love that. The picture toaster otherwise is a little silly.
I think this would be something really interesting for my mom. She loves to take pictures on her digital camera, but has to rely on others to turn on the computer, connect the cam, choose pictures, print, etc. I always feel bad for my mom because of that. New tech has gone over her head. This device is pretty interesting, though.
Not that I'm going to buy this, but I'd guess the 300 DPI is a dye-sub printer, which would translate to the same quality as a much higher resolution inkjet.
I'd like this product a lot more if it had an Internet connection. Seems like it would be more useful if someone could email pictures to your frame and then you could display or print them as you see fit.
