BlackBerry Curve 8900 gets official for T-Mobile Germany
Beep beep, outta the way, incoming RIM product blitz! Seriously, this is like a high-powered corporate executive's dream -- not one, not two, not three, not four, but five major product launches out of Waterloo in the span of a few months' time. Latest out of the gate is the 8900 Curve, successor to the 8300 series featuring a heavily-upgraded 480 x 360 display, microSD support to 16GB, WiFi, 3.2-megapixel cam with autofocus, and integrated GPS. Sadly, network data tops out at EDGE speeds -- but if you really need more, we s'pose that's where the Bold comes into play. No word on any launches outside of Bavaria just yet, but on T-Mobile Germany, the 8900 is available "mid November" (which is basically now) for €4.95 (yes, that's not a typo, 4.95 euros) on a 24-month contract.

Holy crap, bring that thing here and sell it for that cheap = instant win
+1 ...... I'm already planning how and when I'll cancel my land-line to afford the ridiculous Canadian wireless charges. Now I need to compare this to the Android phone.
They should replace physical keyboard with virtual one and call it Hurricane...that would be sweet!
...your done.
His done what?
Now, Tony, lets not be gender-assuming here. That's why girls don't come here. Or at least stay undercover.
What is this "EDGE" that you speak of?
EDGE
Not to be overlooked, the GSM world has its own protocol and acronym EDGE. EDGE stands for Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution. Although it is much slower than EvDO, it does offer some advantages.
(insert sound of something flying really fast over someone's head)
But seriously, that was a nice description. Even though i knew, i still thank you for that.
Wait, there IS Wi-Fi this time but no 3G, so let me guess, deal breaker for most of you?
(sorry had to post that, I'm sure there will be many posters after me that will state that, RIM can't seem to please everyone lately...hah)
not for me I'm still waiting for this phone i held off on the G1 so as soon as it come for T-mobile US I'm getting it.
@Myke
I am sorry to upset you
"RIM said the new device will launch first with T-Mobile in Germany later this month and would be made available in the United States and Canada in early 2009."

Man i wonder why they wouldn't try to push it out before Christmas oh well..
Omg can this thing please come to T-Mobile USA!!!!
Not bad if you like the crackberry
I would assume they're still focusing on edge for t-mobile since their 3g network is barely in place in such big metro areas as Chicago, and I would have to assume two different antennas and conditioning systems is not worth putting in each phone.
it cracks me up that it doesnt have 3G..
It will be interesting to watch RIM take the sales lead from Apple. I loved when people were bragging about the iPhone the other day because it sold 17% to RIM's 15%. I loved it because it just so happens that RIM didn't drop a single phone during the period of the comparison.
What networks will this come to first?
T-mobile and AT&T?
I wish they would make a 3G Curve. I love the form factor and don't want to have to have a larger device to get 3G, so I am not sure about the Bold...
Um yeah 4.95 euros?????? If im not mistaken they are releasing a (about) $7 Blackberry? daem.....
Offtopic, but today was the first time in my life I saw a Blackberry handset live. You know, like in flesh. We don't have many of those in Finland. It was O2-branded thou, so propably the owner was a foreigner.
I work for T-Mobile UK, a guy i work with was sent one of these today to review before it is launched here. So I guess we'll see it in the UK end of this month
is it just me or is the keypad position of letter "Y" and "Z" interchanged? must be the euro version!
yup, that's the german keyboard layout.
Why is it blackberry phones for example the javelin is out this year 2008th it is already available in Germany 2008 but they are saying that it will not be available in the United States until the first quarter of 2009 why? the phone is already a year old and that to me is old technology get on your game backberry and put out a few phones that have everything in them including 3G especially 3G and clearer sounding speakerphones I have heard better speakerphones on a cheaper phone then what blackberry has to offer and that’s a sorry situation.
