Nokia's E63 breaks free for mass market consumption

The E63 just broke the shackles of the rumor monger to become Nokia's latest messaging device. With a pre-tax, pre-subsidy price of just €199, Nokia hopes to see the Symbian S60 device generate some mass-market appeal. So let's see: WiFi, physical QWERTY, choice of ruby red or aquamarine blue, standard 3.5-mm audio jack, camera with video recording, and the ability to switch from an E-series business mode (corporate email, appointments, intranet) to personal mode (pictures, personal email, and browser shortcuts) with a single key press -- sounds like a winning combination to us. Nokia's even tossing in 1GB of Ovi file storage for free when the E63 begins shipping in the coming weeks -- where, is Nokia's little secret for now. We'll update you with the hard details just as soon as Nokia releases them. Until then, check the blue version after the break.

Update: We were able to hack forth the following detail from the bowels of Nokia's website: 113 x 59 x 13-mm / 126g form factor, 320 x 240 pixel display, quad-band GSM / EDGE with 660 minute talk / 432 hours standby, microSD memory slot with 110MB internal memory, 2 megapixel camera capable of QVGA video @ 15fps, and of course, Bluetooth. It'll also be released in WCDMA 900/2100, 850/1900, and 850/2100 configurations. Sorry, no HSDPA data or infrared like that found on the E71.

The E71 is €469 on Nokia Europe's website and $465.40 on Nokia USA's website.

That means that this phone should cost somewhere in the region of $200 unlocked and unsubsidised. That's a sensational price for a smartphone.

Very Much agreed e71 best phone ever,there something about the reliablity,freedom on the phone ,you want msn you got it,you want yahoo you got it,internet,movies,music,etc,etc hell you can even do quake on it,I used a e61 before it and since that time i have been stuck with the e series,i used n series phones which were good but just not reliable enough for my taste,not even got to go there with iphones tho as we are talking about e63s e series BEST PHONE ever!!!.

And Where The Fu... is T-Mobile version. From being Nokia fan boy I'm turning into Nokia hater. What makes WCDMA 900 so special that they include it in the config yet skip on WCDMA 1700 ??? The subscriber base on WCDMA 900 is probably the same as on 1700 so wtf ??? It just pisses me off that Nokia is segregating the North American market and favors at&t completely yet totally discriminating against T-Mobile.

Why can't this E63, come in white... Like the E71, I was really considering the E71, but after reading the comments realized it doesn't have a 3.5 mm jack.

You mean this phone is like E 71, but it doesn't have the same features? I really wanted to buy one but don't know what's better e71 or e 63
