Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1a prodded by the FCC
If you've read through our thorough review of Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1, by now you're probably champing at any number of bits to get your hands on the device. Well, thanks to the FCC, you can rest easier knowing you're one step closer to actually touching, holding, and hugging the phone (the US-destined X1a, that is). Amongst other things, the documents seem to disclose -- we'll stop short of saying confirm -- that a black version will be in play when it arrives in the States, though we feel that page 46 of the 114 page test report was more revealing in many ways. Don't believe us? Hit the read link and take a look for yourself.

What does that mean? I'm lazy just tell us what it said!
Sorry, I am a Reservoir Engineer, not an Electronics one, nor I work in communications. This means I don't understand what does Channel 189 (4 GHz - 12.5GHz) and Channel 128 (12 GHz - 25GHz) reveal.
Does it mean that it can go either AT&T or T-Mobile way? Thanks.
Shot in the dark, but page 47 reveals:
USPCS TRANSMITTER FREQUENCY
128 824.2 MHz
189 836.4 MHz
251 848.8 MHz
pretty close to 850...
Haha, so the main competition for this phone will be the Touch Pro but they are made by the same people! Smart play HTC!
Uhm.. they are just manufactured by HTC.. everything else is Sony Ericsson work (hopefully)
Just pointing that out, cause your post makes it sound like everything is done by HTC..
Outside of the name and SE saying they want the device to do certain things, HTC did everything else.
SE just supplied what they wanted to see in the finished device. HTC designed from concept and produced the device.
Mind giving some proof?
Hopefully??? How do you know it wasn't HTC design this from ground up? Point me to a link if you can.

Looky here, even Engadget was one of the first to catch the rumor that has since been confirmed.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/10/no-wonder-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1-is-so-good-htc-makes-it/
HTC even made the homescreen
http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=6155
Ok you pointed me to 2 links which show nothing..
That Engadget one has no source what so ever.. and if you read the comments like 85% people are complaining that its just one of those stupid rumors made by Engadget once in a while (well quite often actually)..
So think of something better.. cause if you search on Google for anything on the X1, you will only find that it's made in the factories of HTC.. but no mention of designing it or the software..
1700 by any chance?
Mr. Malik also gave the XPERIA X1 a good prodding:

WOW! Page 46 is VERY revealing:
I never knew that "Funkstoerstrahlung" was a word...
It actually is a word in German and means " noise radiation"
(according to the dictionary dict.leo:

17 pics of unboxing !!!
I believe the idiom Mr. Topolsky meant to employ is "Champing at the bit".
The idiom I intend to employ is you chomping on any number of ****s.
No, champing means the same as chomping and hardly anybody uses the term champing these days.
@ Brighenne - OK, maybe I'm a traditionalist who happens to spend a lot of time around horses and carriages (really, I do), so I'm used to hearing horse people talking about things that horses do. I'm willing to accept that "chomping" has become an alternative, among people who don't talk about horses.
Meanwhile, the ITG Rudiger can go eat a bowl of horse dicks... I hear his mother gives lessons.
Thanks for the change... not a big deal, really. And I apologize if I offended any readers when defending myself against that puerile insult.
It's 10 inches wide.
Thats what she said!!!
Oh wait nevermind..
You're an idiot...
You're extremely new here...
Or 10 furlongs.
soo..... what does page 46 mean.. I dont understand the graphs. radiated frequencies of channel 189 and 128 doesnt really ring a bell in my head. Can anyone shed further light on this?
I think we can pretty much kill any hope of it running on T-Mobile US. Band IV is clearly missing from it. I dont know if we blame TMo or S/E but either way I'm so beyond tired of having no phone choices.
Two thinkgs:
1. Mr. Topolsky, can you please be more explicit to us, mere mortals, on what page 46 reveals?
2. If the X1a does come go AT&T, which way would you (should I) go, Xperia X1a or HTC Fuze?
I just got mine X1i (EU version) a couple of hours ago. I think I'm in love. I'm really glad I didn't dive in on the TouchPro. The 3-row keyboard is a little annoying for typing, but the spacing is much better and makes up for it. Build quality is fantastic.
Could just be me but the buttons on the front where the touch screen is are hideous. They look like a dummy phone. Anybody else?
I have this phone goin' on 3 weeks now I love it with all my heart! Yeah it lags here and there, but the things you can do with this sucker is off the chain! I have both Touchflo 3D and SB Mobile Shell and it makes the mobile Xperience a breeze. I lost track of the custom ringtones I have (30 sec mp3s). I forgot what program it is, but I can use WMV as video ringtones for incoming calls. I also customized the open and close sound on the keyboard, somethin' similar to the sidekicks. And I got custom alert sounds for IM's, email, sms, and mms (1-5 sec mp3s)!!! I downloaded Beejive and now I have ALL the IM's that can run in the background. Copy & paste is to die for! One thing I like about WM 6.1 is I can upload or create an image them mms it to all my friends! Even animated gif images too! I've made ton of holiday animated gif images to send off to my contacts. Hell, I even got friends beggin'me to mms them pictures so they can foward them! In Opera I can select and save images off the web and mms or email them with ease. A stable flash support is on its way hopefully. I'm waitin' for a non-beta version of Skyfire. Bein' able to browse MySpace, Facebook, and all them other sites that stream music and video and display the entire page like an desktop. Got the Youtube app. Thanks to the Xda Developers there's a tweak to mod the noticfication lights. Lookin' forward to video backgrounds in the future. Heck, I'll even settle for animated gif images. I barely started importin' themes. Right now I have a red theme and the notification lights always glow red. Coreplayer is blessin', I can drag and drop a variety of video files without conversion and they play with no problem. I can also edit the T9 dictionary, fonts, and add new symbols. It seems like everyday I change my sms/mms signature because I'm always addin' new symbols and what not. Converstation style sms/mms is the business! I can forward and send to multiple contacts with no problem. I just hope a developer design a better fish panel. It'll be cool if it was like an actual fish tank rather then lookin' down at it. I hope we get street view in an update, Google. You people complain about the touch screen not as good as the iPhone but I use the optical joystick and d-pad as if there isn't a touch screen interface. Last but not least, there is a tweak to increase the sound! I have some old software (6 years old) that I still use today to increase the volume on my mp3's up to 1000%. I can make any headphones/speakers sound loud! This phone is worth every penny if you can aford. That's if you like keep control over your phone! I can't wait till Thankgivin' and X-Mas to so off my phone to my family. Every year I have a new toy to show off...I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!
tl;dr
I didn't read you post but I just wanted to say I googled what you wrote and you wrote the exact same thing on gizmodo too ReevesStich
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2008/11/sony_ericsson_xperia_x1_to_drop_black_friday_for_800-2.html#comments
Thanks for that.
hey plz give me software for increase volume of my xperia plz
Maybe it was a typo. Top of page 36:
"5.3 PART GSM 850"
The phone will and does work (both x1i and x1a) on the TMobile network, but you will have to live with EDGE connectivity, as it neither phone supports TMobiles 3G network. However, it will work just fine on EDGE, just slower data for those who are in a 3G covered area (like myself)
BLOODY EXPENSIVE !
How is Sony/Ericsons Quality these days?
I had a few Ericson phones a couple years ago and the build quality was horrible. Ear piece speaker blew with in the first week (both the ringtones and voice came out the same speaker) I just had way too many build quality issues to continue throwing money at ericson.
I've had a W810i for 2.5 years and I still love it. Build quality is great, no complains so far. I can even surf the web with Opera Mini 4.1 and it does a pretty good job. Google Maps and Gmail apps also work great. That is why I've waited so long, and I'll wait until January to see if AT&T picks up the Xperia X1a, if not, I'll get an HTC Fuze or an iPhone.
1700/2100 band for T-Mobile's 3G confirmed on this phone?
=Antwan L.
As I stated above, it will NOT work with TMobile 3G.
so we still dont' know what page 46 means. other than a signal to noise ratio test? that didn't seem to show shit imo.
i agree with berbar. i'm not waitin past the beginning of january. i've been drooling over this thing for WHAT SEEMS LIKE AN ERA!
i can't wait to get this phone tho. too bad we don't get silver here in the USA pretty gay.
__new thread = can the SEX1 run linux?
