Circuit City's Black Friday deals leak, no word on if it'll be open to sell things
Okay, so maybe Circuit City only formally closed 155 of its retail locations, but let's put it this way -- if we're up at 3:00AM and looking at which store to camp in front of, we're picking the one that, um, isn't bankrupt. All that aside, five pages of mildly delectable Black Friday deals have leaked for the company, giving you a full fortnight to think things over and handpick the bargains that you'll be hunting for. Of course, savvy online shoppers like yourself aren't apt to find anything here too fantastic, but we'd wager that even a $7.99 laptop sleeve is a far better value than a $12 Guns N' Roses CD.

yeaa!!! America F an education just go buy crap to keep the party rollin'
speaking of bad education... where'd you learn to write?
unless you somehow stuck a cat 5 cable up your nose and started breathing tcp ip packets, chances are the computer you used to write that post is... wait for it... crap you bought to "keep the party rolling" also.
so why dont you get off you high horse and realize you're just one of us.
btw i hate that dog. the only thing worse is that fucking paperclip
Who has school on Black Friday? 99.9999% of students are on Thanksgiving break.
You know, I think that post was so poorly written that most of us didn't even get the point he was trying to make until Ladderless' comment.
Mad respect B.
Sorry, it had to be done.
That's just what a douchebag would say.
for something like 14 years in the making, the Guns N Roses CD is actually quite good. One would think it would be a mixed up load of crap, but it's not. It's actually quite cohesive: http://rockandreview.com/blog/post.cfm/guns-n-roses-chinese-democracy
A Guns N' Roses CD with one original member? No thanks. It's Axl doing the GN'R sound.
Yeah, kind of a shame Axl's hijacked the GNR name and is using it for what is essentially a solo project with contributions from a lot of other musicians. But whatever, he owns the rights, so he can do what he wants. I justify it by thinking that it's just another band that I also happen to like. Either way the new CD is going to be killer. If you've heard TWAT or The Blues, be afraid. Be very afraid. Chinese Democracy will rule the world.
actually the recently released 'chinese democracy' uses Bach as lead vocal and Axl is only doing some whining in the background.
Can anyone identify the model numbers on EVERY one of the computer stuffs? I would like to know, in particular, the multi-function/non-multi-function printers and the routers. It looks like ANY D-Link router purchase nets you a free wifi adapter for lappie or desktop.
RIP circuit shitty
We'll see in a fortnight... cc could pull through this mess... or not. I generally buy stuff online, so I don't really care.
O your funny
Please keep in mind that all Circuit City ads ONLY apply to stores that are NOT closing. Don't expect a $7 laptop sleeve at the store with all the "Everything Must Go!" signs. The closing 155 stores are no longer receiving new shipments at all, much less any bulk for the holiday season.
Hell its worse then that, the stores closing are not taking part of any print advertisement pricing. Which makes it pretty hard to move product for stores that even at "everything must go" discounts of 5-20% have stuff that's more expensive then other stores that have stuff on sale. Although today I did see guys walking around with signs that said up to 30% off, which maybe means they might move something so far of the 3 CC stores I have been in that are closing they aren't moving jack shit.
Don't see anything worth getting up early.
Though I was surprised that the CC near me wasn't one of the ones on the hit list.
Do you have any idea what Chapter 11 means, Darren? Because it certainly looks like you have no clue.
They should be good through at least the end of the year, since they got that infusion of cash from B of A earlier this week...
Steve Jobs wouldnt piss on you if you were on fire and there were no water left in the world, stop sucking on his cock.

Well done Engadget, your comment system is top notch.....
Apparently, the rest of us don't think your commenting is up to snuff either.
Anyone who's spent any amount of time around here knows that you can't reply to clak, nor should you.
Double-posting doesn't help you at all either.
Suck mah baws.
It's sad they're closing stores and so many people are losing jobs right here at Christmas.
Like seriously, it makes me sad. :(
What the hell?
Are you guys messing around with font sizes on the front page? Every article is a different size and orientation... it's freaking me out.
"i" dont give an iShit about your drm laden, shitty quality, shitty music, on your overpriced iAir
this post had nothing to do with apple yet somehow you managed to let your gayness shine with all its flamboyancy
Just ignore him...he probably doesn't even own an Apple product.
This post had nothing to do with gay people, flamboyant or otherwise, yet you managed to let your prejudice shine.
Yeah your post managed to annoy me more than the one you were talking about...
Why is it highest ranked?
Remember... when KMART went bankrupt, it dissolved all of its debt and then turned around and bought Sears.
so you think cc is gonna turn around and buy best buy?
Maybe whatever is left of CompUSA at best.
They did not go bankrupt, they filed for bankruptcy protection.
its looking like I will skip black friday and just shop online. although I may go to sports authority and get a punching bag on the cheap
cc just doesn't pass the eyeball test. the stores have a terrible layout and are dreary. Its something I would expect to find in Russia. I imagine if they buy best buy that they would still fail and get overtaken by walmart in a heartbeat. cc's problem is their awful marketing. everytime i go in there I want to leave. bb seems interesting and people want that. it sounds stupid but it works
""""""""realize you're just one of us"""""""""
The gaming-related Black Friday deals have been a load of crap for the most part, seeing mostly $10 savings at the most. Hell's Highway (oddly still $50 on PC) and Bioshock are $30 usually on the 360 now, but marked down to $20, Dead Rising has dropped to $10 from $20. Not that those are bad deals, but they aren't deals that I'd wait a couple hours in line for in the wee hours of the morning. I remember when Best Buy, back when Battlefield 2142 had just been out for a couple weeks, marked 2142 down 50% and was selling both 2142 and Age of Empires 3 for $25 each. Now that was a good deal - I went back a few months later to buy another copy and it was $40. Unfortunately when either your company's in the shitter or your competition's in the shitter you can't really be persuaded to offer too many good deals.
If these are the products they are flogging off then no wonder they are closing stores.
I didn't realize that black friday was meant to be stock clearance fo shit they couldn't offload over the past 5+ years.
http://www.blackfday.com/14/circuit-city-black-friday-ad-posted/ just posted the adscan file
what Samsung Blu-Ray Disc Player are they selling for $200? That stupid BF website hast the wrong image link for that portion of the ad.
BDP-1500
My son is buying the Samsung 48inch HDTV ----he said they had a great price this weekend at $1299.....He said his father in law went out and bought it, and had circuit city install it----he also got the bluray dvd.........we have bought a couple of the 32in LG TVs, and they are great!!!! I also bought three of the HP small laptops and really like them.....
I love how when everyone talks about CC it is all about them going out of business. Listen up people all they did was file for chapter 11. If you knew anything about anything you would know that chapter 11 is for restructuring and reorganizing the company. It helps them get rid of some stupid debt like leases they have been paying on for 20 years when stores are no longer in those locations. All this means is that they are under aid for up til 18 months. So get over it people CC isn't going anywhere.
This kind of stuff is going on with every company. Everyday companies are filing or laying off hundreds and thousands of people. Everyone's favorite Best Buy (except me, CC all the way) filed for over 1 million dollar loan the other day because they are having problems paying for things. Best Buy's stock seems to be falling little by little from week to week. But that is just how things are going to be, the economy is shit.
So everyone stop worrying about CC going out of business cause it won't happen and worry about how many people your gonna have to plow over in line on black friday to get to that TV you want!
PS: if they file for chapter 7 then we will have a problem
Ahhhh hell, he's back.
So, a company that was just given $1.2 billion and has better deals this year than Worst Buy isn't the one you're going to go wait outside? What the hell does being in bankruptcy matter to you as a customer? It has nothing to do with day-to-day operations and doesn't mean the company is going out of business. Most people would understand that on BF a deal is a deal, regardless of the seller.
Buyer Beware!! I bought a new desktop computer at Circuit City when they had the "back to school sales" at the end of August 2008. I have taken it back to Circuit City 3 times because it keeps dropping the internet. Circuit City sent it out for repairs 2 weeks ago. They just called me to tell me it came back in but I can't pick it up because it came back broken. The fan now makes a loud noise and the unit will not turn off or on. I went from having an internet problem to having a completely broken computer. They are unwilling to replace it, so it has to go back to the manufacturer to be rebuilt. Now I will have a reconditioned computer, which I could have picked up on the internet for a lot less money. Circuit City's attitude is that it is not their problem that it is now more broke than it was when I brought it in for the internet repair. Best to spend your money elsewhere-everyone will be having great sales on BF because the economy is in bad shape. Take what is left of your hard earned cash and spend it where they will back up what they sell.
Ouch the title is just straight cold! Burn on Circuit City.
ok think about this. For a company who is "supposedly" going out of business (and trust me they aren't. i work there) dont you think that should they have a black friday sale, that people are going to show up BECAUSE they think they are going out of business? They are going to do the typical ignorant "i dont know what chapter 11 bankruptcy is" thing and assume that they are going out of business and are gonna sell everything at way cheap. This is going to bring in enough business to potentially bring up stock maybe even to a dollar a share. C city isn't going anywhere.
Guitar Hero DS - $29.99!!
Only thing keeping me from that game was the $50 price tag
I worked for the piece of shit company circuit city for 3 1/2 years...I am fucking estatic to see that theyre closing their stores. I'm sorry for my friends who are still there but I honestly knew this was coming. As soon as CC launched their Firedog(fucking terrible name) everything went down hill. Heres a secret folks: DO NOT BUY THE INSTALLS FROM CC OR BB. I WORKED FOR BOTH COMPANIES ALL WE ARE DOING ARE RIPPING YOU OFF!!! Firedog would charge people 30 fucking dollars to make recovery discs that came in the box, they would just take em out, when you bought it. Best buy does the same shit. Im happy to hear that Cirucit Shitty is going away, good ridance and thanks for absolutely nothing you worthless fucking piece of shit company. Fuck Firedog and Fuck Cirucit City. Best Buy is a better store but becareful because theyre just as shady.
If you prefer to do your Black Friday shopping online, here's a site that is primarily featuring online Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals:

If this economy doesn't pick up, Best Buy might be right behind Circuit City.
