Xpod Active Sound speakers put your pocket change to use

These new Xpod Active Sound speakers now available in Korea (and apparently only Korea) likely won't win many points for sound quality, but they at least forge a bit of new ground in pocket change usage, and that's got to count for something. The speakers are also small enough to toss into a bag or pocket and forget about 'em until you want to share a song or, say, a podcast, with someone, and they pack a built-in rechargeable battery that can be topped off using any available USB port. They also shouldn't cause too much heartache if they should mysteriously go missing someday, as they only cost the rough local equivalent of $17, although you can expect to pay a bit more than that if you plan on importing them.

and it costs another 25 cents to make it stand up...
In Japan and Korea it costs an extra 100yen/won to make it stand. It's always more expensive here.
The Xpod is the bastard love-child of Microsoft and Apple's one-night stand 9 months ago at E3.
Im just suprised its not a half black and half white baby
i think someone replied to you but i can't tell
Nice choice with the brilliant white background behind the white object. Perhaps some snowflakes falling on an albino holding the thing up would be nice... What? Oh... I didn't notice that that was already in the picture...
Quarters I can use. What I need is something I can prop up with pennies.
Wobbly chairs?
Maybe someone will figure out a way to use this next-gen quarter technology to prop up our sagging economy.
It will take more than one quarter.
Some government sources suggest 2.8 trillion quarters would be about right, though.
I will stick to my free bestbuy giftcard speaker, thanks.
Hey I've got a great idea, why don't you take a white product and take pics of it on a white background? Doh!
Funny, a little plastic flip out stand would have cost less than 10p to make...
we use cents here in america. not pence, get it right.
pence ftw!
Simon, as your friend, I suggest you remember 99% of this site is rabid American Mac fanboys, so they will only buy the Bose sound docks.
If you would care to take a look at the current exchange rates, it seems that our currency is worth more than your US dollars. So, as GingerFox said, pence ftw.
Scone eater! =P
Yes, I can buy many scones with my Great British £ and pence!
Touche...
I cut down trees, I eat my lunch,
I go to the lavatree.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.
wtf is a pence
This thing is...white
Ok, call me stupid, but I haven't figured out what the quarter is for. I mean, I see the quarter, but I fail to see where its use is. What am I missing?
A brain.
At first I thought it was some nifty feature that let the quarter vibrate so that sound emanated from it -- turning the quarter into a tiny little speaker.
Then I realized it's just supposed to be a stand (I think). Talk about disappointment.
That *almost* seems like a good idea, except when you stop to think that, for probably less than the value of that coin itself, they could have added some kind of little arm there that you could simply flip out and make the thing stand without having to fish around in your pocket, wallet, or bag for a coin to keep the thing up.
perhaps the quarter is there as a size comparison, folks? as well as, of course, a nifty stand.
