800MHz CPU-packing P565 handset appears on ASUS site
ASUS' P565 has been pretty much unofficial until now, though we did see some alleged photos and specs of the device not terribly long ago. The phone has just been officially listed on the ASUS site, however, and we've got a quick rundown of its stats (which are pretty much exactly what we'd seen before). The Glide UI-sporting, HSDPA smartphone -- which ASUS claims is the "fastest business PDA phone" in the world -- runs Windows Mobile 6.1, has an 800MHz Marvell CPU, a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen, 256MB flash memory and 128MB of DDR SDRAM, 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, and a microSD slot with SDHC support. Like we said, none of this is a big surprise, but it's the first official look we've had at the handset, though we're still waiting on word about pricing and availability.

Nice, but WinMo is the performance equalizer.
No WVGA or higher screen?
Fail.
It's a 2.8" screen, you fail.
Did you replace your regular eyes with magnifying eyes? Can you do X-ray too?
Hmm...
Pico ITX mobo inside?
(Or a reasonable facsimile thereof?!?;)
About the same size...
That's way too much dead space on the front. The screen should have been a lot bigger, especially considering its resolution.
Man, wasted space everywhere with that thing! Doesn't it look kinda like... I don't know, a really good PDA Phone about 3 years ago?
i agree, they should have moved that asus logo somewhere and use that space for more screen.
This device has all the markings of something that was rushed to market. No manufacturer in their right mind would waste that much front real-estate unless the actual dimensions of the thing weren't finalized until after the screen orders had been placed. They are obviously using new cpus, which haven't been thoroughly tested yet, so they probably wanted to give themselves a wide margin of error and just make the phone bigger rather then trying to shoehorn it into the form-factor they wanted. Way to go Asus! First to market!
Needs more RAM.
You guys forgot to add " GPS-packin' ". Asus website says "SiRF Star III with InstantFix". It also says the thing has a 1300mAh battery. That's a bit low for an 800mhz cpu don't you think?
AFAIK, the highest so for is 624MHz, and the one claiming to release 800MHz is nvidia tegra, so is tegra inside that thing? or not?
looked at the specs, and its not
this will suck mostly due to the amount of memory they gave it between their nifty little interface and windows mobile 6.1 it will eat up a good 50-60 megs of ram not leaving you entirely all that much room to take advantage of that processor speed nor did they give you much internal storage 256 megs come on
