LG Incite for AT&T, now with more official
We noticed this on AT&T's web store in the wee hours this morning, and sure enough, they've gone ahead and announced the LG Incite in all its official glory today (normally the announcement comes before the web store stuff, but whatever). It's got WiFi, a 3-megapixel camera, a 3-inch touchscreen equipped with haptics and 400 x 240 resolution, AT&T Navigator, microSD support up to 16GB, triband HSDPA, and Windows Mobile 6.1 -- in other words, LG's produced a nice QWERTY-less foil to the Fuze here. It's available straight away in stores, too, as long as you're willing to shell out the $199.99 on contract after rebates.

Seriously? 200$ on contract WITH rebates? I feel sorry for you guys in the US of A.. such a phone here would be most likely for free or about 50$ max..
Techie @ Nov 18th 2008 2:45PM
Why does the 1st post always goes to a jack ass? Seriously, I wish I knew why...
Patriks7 @ Nov 18th 2008 4:10PM
How is that a jack ass post? I'm just saying I feel sorry for the Americans for their high prices :|
Techie @ Nov 18th 2008 6:11PM
@Patriks7
Because you are just bragging, no one likes a show boat. Don't you think customers already know that they are paying a bit too much already? We don't need someone like you to say it, AGAIN! If other words, I could give a rat ass if you pay $50 bucks or less for your god damn phone...
Valicore @ Nov 18th 2008 7:24PM
Give him a break people, he was basically showing sympathy and you attack him for it. That attitude is why we Americans are still getting screwed when it comes to cell phones and cell phone service: someone brings up the issue and we attack then instead of expressing our displeasure to the people responsible (Phone companies, FCC, etc.)
Try and find a balance between your emotional and logical minds man.
CJ @ Nov 19th 2008 12:08AM
Haha, awesome, in Australia, we're getting the BB Storm for free on Vodafone :D
To be fair, I feel that bragging about the BB Storm here in Aus is our god-given right, considering we get shafted on the prices of most electronics, espeically phones, MP3 players, and Games.
Cole Mitguard @ Nov 18th 2008 1:41PM
I do like to see more advanced phones finally coming to US shores, but I dont know if at $199 LG is going to sell many of these, thats the same price as the Iphone, and given the decisison, most of the 18-25 demographic is going to choose the the Iphone, and the Business users who also might have a need for a phone with this kind of functionality usually head for the Blackberry, but hey, you never know. On top of that... I have never owned an LG phone that I have liked, maybe Ive just had bad luck, but they always seem to have a lot of features, but have horrible build quality.
Juxterium @ Nov 18th 2008 1:56PM
It won't always be a straight choice between this and the iPhone, it will really come down to however much the contract costs, as if this costs $15 a month and the iPhone costs $30 quite a few people may be swayed towards the LG.
And I've only ever owned one LG phone, the Shine and have to say the build quality is exemplary.
Alpha @ Nov 18th 2008 2:11PM
I've got the shine and I think it’s a piece of junk with terrible quality that even with very light use will die soon after the 18-24 month period is up. I had my old phone for four and a half years before this one and it still worked perfectly (other than battery life) until I replaced it.
That being said I think they could still sell a lot of these priced with the iPhone. Don't forget that iPhones require big expensive unique plans that can screw up being on a family plan as many people are now. If the rebates don't require their $30 a month data plan then you could pick it up as a talk/office software phone and just use WiFi for internet instead of a data plan. Not having data saves you $720 over two years. Worth it for me since I don’t want an iPhone anyways.
Electromodo @ Nov 18th 2008 2:14PM
I tend to agree with Cole Mitguard, the specs are not impressive compared to iPhone. BTW, my upgrade price to LG Incite is $149.
I am thinking of upgrading my phone on AT&T, since my plan is over. Right now I have Samsung BlackJack II and it is a decent phone, but I just hate to see my time flowing without using an upgrade option.
I am considering HTC FUZE ($249 after rebates) or iPhone ($199). Unfortunately, LG Incite falls out because of low specs.
Or should I just switch to T-Mobile for G1? Hmmmm....
kjb434 @ Nov 18th 2008 2:22PM
The fact that it's a WinMo based phone means it's angling towards business customers that buy phones in bulk.
The 18-25 year old crowd for personal use is not the target for this phone.
xmetalheadx @ Nov 18th 2008 1:43PM
ugglyyyy
Ryan @ Nov 18th 2008 1:46PM
The screen looks too small.....I like the Dare better.
maveric101 @ Nov 18th 2008 2:13PM
huge bezel is huge.
derX @ Nov 18th 2008 2:43PM
Yeah, the design of this phone is just awful. The first time I saw it, I thought it was going to be like a WinMo, business-styled version of the LG Voyager. I was certain that the screen would flip open to reveal a QWERTY keypad and an internal screen.
But no.
Just this.
It is NOT worth $200 with a rebate at all. People are complaining about the specs which I don't really have a big issue with at all--3MP camera, GPS, WiFi...it's pretty on par for a WinMo 2008 phone. Urgh, it's the circa 2001 design it's sportin' that's the issue. It looks like an update to the Samsung I300. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=5
Incite = LG FAIL
Neil @ Nov 18th 2008 1:47PM
If I want a Windows Mobile touchscreen only phone why would I buy this over the HTC Diamond?

Barstool @ Nov 18th 2008 1:50PM
Pardon, but where the F did this thing come from? Crappy resolution, huge border around the screen, same cost as iphone....
Pass.
Lowest Ranked @ Nov 18th 2008 2:03PM
Seems more like a fail than a pass.
Valicore @ Nov 18th 2008 2:08PM
This really is pretty crappy design. Lots of phones are weird or try new things, but this one takes a step back with the huge bezel, itty-bitty screen, etc.
Marc-O @ Nov 18th 2008 2:12PM
I don't see how this makes a "nice QWERTY-less foil to the Fuze" in the least... 1/3 of the pixels, 1/2 the memory, no TouchFlo 3D-like UI, awful design... I could keep going.
digitallysick @ Nov 18th 2008 2:27PM
Windows mobile is horrible, the htc touch pro is a horrible device, i just returned it, its almost un usable.
Patrick @ Nov 18th 2008 2:31PM
So what did you get to replace the fuze (touch pro)? I got the fuze last week, and have been very underwhelmed. The touchflo3d is ok, but sometimes laggy, and the touchscreen does not feel as responsive as it should. Plus I really miss having the keys up front ( I had an original blackjack).
I'm strongly considering the bold right now. Anyone have anythoghts on the bold?
Marc-O @ Nov 18th 2008 2:37PM
Unusable... Compared to what ? Because it's one of the most usable mobile devices out there... I have a Tilt, which is pretty damn usable already, and the Fuze is a decent upgrade over the Tilt... *boggle*
Scott @ Nov 18th 2008 2:45PM
It has 1/2 the memory cause it doesn't have that TouchFlo crap to suck it up. Most phones do have 1/3 the pixels of the Fuze. Fuze is the first VGA!
KilgoreTrout @ Nov 18th 2008 3:12PM
I'm absolutely sure that everyone singing the praise of the Fuze has never ever tried to use one for more than one hour.
I had an HTC touch pro (european name for the Fuze) and after less than 2weeks of continuous stress and irritation, I sold it at a considerable loss just to get rid of it as soon as possible.
The same did all peole I know of who ever owned a HTC diamond or a touch pro.
Now I got myself a Samsung i900 Omnia and I love it .
This is what a touch screen smartphone should be like.
Only one (huge) minus point: No voice dialling/voice tags.
Bah, I guess that perfection does not belong to this world.
Marc-O @ Nov 18th 2008 3:18PM
While I'm glad you are certain to possess absolute knowledge, I had a Touch Pro to play with for about a month, and liked the device a whole lot. Made going back to my Tilt painful. Maybe I'm just used to feeling at home on HTC devices, but regardless: I guess you are just wrong in your statement about praise-singing.
yibrushn @ Nov 18th 2008 5:03PM
I've had the Touch Pro for about a month on sprint and it has been very usable. In fact several people bought them after playing with mine (that's what she said?) you can add the voice dial to the omnia by buying MS Voice Command.
KilgoreTrout @ Nov 18th 2008 5:39PM
@ yibrushn
REALLY???
Yibrushn if what you say turns out to be true : if "MS voice command" would really add voice dialling capabilities to my beloved Omnia, I'm going to feel deeply, deeply indebted o you.
You will be remembered in my testament.
I will remember you forever in my evening prayers.
Your name will always be blessed by all my descendents.
And the very earth on which you stepped is going to be worshipped.
Are you really sure?
james @ Nov 18th 2008 3:51PM
this phone is listed on At&t site as out of stock? And there is no flash??? Seriously LG NO F'N FLASH? oh the fuze is listed as out of stock as well..and one with NO CAM??? didnt know that was coming but should have expected it w/ all the biz's not allowing camera's.
apodhead @ Nov 18th 2008 3:53PM
is it just me, or does the incite bear a very. VERY, strong resemblance to the dare, also made by lg but on verizon wireless? its practically exactly the same, and their names are even synonyms!
golfreak @ Nov 18th 2008 5:03PM
The design is flawed.
Look at all the wasted space by having such a bezel around the screen.
They could have easily made this a 3.5" screen.
BratPAQ @ Nov 18th 2008 5:29PM
with that large body and small screen, its already been "killed by iPhone"
seriously, what people want is large screen, small body, not the other way around.
gettingmymacon @ Nov 18th 2008 10:05PM
capacitive or resistive touch screen?
81dollar @ Nov 18th 2008 8:24PM
anyone else notice that Pandora is listed under "streaming radio" along with XM? Did Pandora finally release an app for WinMo phones?
Zrataza @ Nov 25th 2008 5:55PM
Before reading this post...just keep in mind that I read the first two posts and their subposts and then got tired of people crapping on the phone
You guys have no clue whatsoever!...this is better than the Iphone in sooooo many ways!...and why the f*** are you comparing this to LG Dare? you do know the LG Dare has a smaller screen, is less customizable because it has it's own OS God knows what? Sure there are bugs on Windows Mobile but at least you can do stuff to it...and this is basically the next version of the LG Vu, which is LG Dare's AT&T version...I will agree, however, that AT&T dumbs down almost all of the phones that it acquires (Samsung Omnia dumbed down to Samsung Eternity and Dare to Vu)
This has a proximity sensor and an accelerometer...the only thing i can think of that can be worse than Iphone is the browser...but hey guess what?...there is such a thing called Picsel Browser (produced for Samsung) which is an awesome browser!
it has 3.0 MP camera, which can actually record videos too...Shitbag Iphone can't do that
BB Storm doesnt have wifi, although a great phone, which kills its business usage
All this phone lacks is proper advertising...else, a person like me who has exploited Windows Mobile a lot can make this phone the greatest thing ever! Apple's interface is phenomenal but it has too many securities and too many limitations...though I dont know if this phone features dual touch
Stop crapping on any phone if you dont own it or plan on owning it...if you miss out on something it's you that's gonna miss out...NO NEED TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD!
alltouchdiamondcom @ Nov 27th 2008 6:30AM
I am pleased with LG Incite's design quirks, it's a very good first entry in the U.S. smartphone market, even though this phone is quietly released, many people have already picked one up. There's even a fans website http://www.LG-Incite dedicated for it. Amazing!
