VUDU XL2 brings on-demand films to rack-mountable enclosure
Given just how far VUDU has been getting into the custom install game, it's no shock at all to see it produce a set-top-box that's less STB and more integrator-friendly. The 1U rack-mountable XL2 sports a classic black motif and plays nice with systems from leading control and automation manufacturers such as Crestron, Logitech, Netstreams, Nevo and Philips. You'll be able to enjoy the spoils of integrated IP / IR control, a 1TB internal hard drive, optical / coaxial / RCA audio outputs and an HDMI port. Sadly, the XL2 can't be purchased online, meaning you'll have to coax a local installer to sell you one for $1,299.

im always so close to getting a Vudu. I think the service is great, and the prices fair, but the initial cost always seems way to high...
Vudu needs to make a player under $100...

They basically do make a box for under $100 - you pay $299 and get $200 in movie rentals.
I've had a box for 8 months - no complaints (great picture + sound).

Is it only me that cant see how Vudu will sell more then 100 of these????Who the heck is going to buy one from a custom installer for $1300?!?! Anyone who wants Vudu is the kinda person is going to be hacking things themselves, and for $1300 you could build a sick rack mounted PC with everything you need to access Unbox, Hulu, Fox, Etc. I dont see this working at all but maybe Im wrong.

If you are at a serious level of income such as a basketball player, baseball player or stockbroker (perhaps not now-a-days) or a whatever at that level of income, this is a nice thing to have installed into your system.
System installers and integrators make money off of consistency and not being called back to repair some hack. Hacks are nice, but the support for a hack is higher than an off-the-rack machine - or in this instance an in-the-rack machine. Install it and leave me alone.

"you" need not be a person - "you" could be a hotel, running a few dozen rooms, to which you need to stream entertainment.

I gave you a plus for making me visualise Homer saying it.
