Keepin' it real fake, part CLXVIII: Motorola Aura clone is everything we ever wanted in a knockoff
If there was ever a phone worth cutting down to size with a completely shoddy but not actually completely unattractive fake edition, it's the Motorola Aura. What we have here is the Wingtech D20, which shares the swivel form factor of the Aura, mocks the round LCD with a perfectly boring square one in a round hole, and boasts a surprisingly weak complement of features, even for a "fake" phone. Oh how you suffer for fashion, Motorola.

As long as the gold bezel spins, im ok with that.
Tom Robertson @ Nov 19th 2008 9:49AM
I personally hate it. With a passion.
Canoo @ Nov 19th 2008 9:50AM
why would anyone want to knock off the ugliest phone ever?
broli @ Nov 19th 2008 10:39AM
Why would anyone post the stupidest post ever?
tom @ Nov 19th 2008 10:47AM
@broli
Catch phrase of my professor," There is no such thing as a stupid comment, HOWEVER, there are good and bad comments."
Canoo spoke up for many of us, and I concur. Why buy a knock off of an ugly phone?
Canoo @ Nov 19th 2008 10:57AM
Sorry broli, I didn't realize the comment system wasn't for making comments...
Darkroom @ Nov 19th 2008 11:53AM
agreed... this shit is drip'n nasty...
chris @ Nov 19th 2008 12:55PM
What's that blue colored crap suppose to be? Porcelain?
That would of been cool 80 years ago!
Hey china design guys DON'T think on your own, you have
0 idea of what we like. Just keep applying your special definition
of "copyright" and your crap will sell.
jsmith @ Nov 19th 2008 7:05PM
LOL,
I used to work at the company that makes these!!! In Orlando Florida. We ship the cases and designs to China, and they add in cheap chips and processors.
Imperor @ Dec 3rd 2008 7:28PM
Porcelain! That accually made me think the white one is kind of cool! My mom has little bowls with the same kind of patterns on them. They'd go together great! Now if there only was a reason to carry around a bunch of porcelain bowls for it to go with...

Imitation is the truest form of flattery
ProjecT TimeZ @ Nov 19th 2008 10:01AM
That is one ugly ass phone.
Patriks7 @ Nov 19th 2008 10:15AM
If you think this is ugly ass, you should see the original..
CJ @ Nov 19th 2008 10:03AM
I love the faux bling. For the truly lazy, we'll pre-bling your phone for you.
Nick J @ Nov 19th 2008 10:07AM
If that was an Of Montreal reference, then I salute you good sir.
Paul Miller @ Nov 19th 2008 10:20AM
I do try.
Fusion Fuzo @ Nov 19th 2008 10:10AM
FUGLY hey moto phone FUGLY
tom @ Nov 19th 2008 10:50AM
HEY! it WASN'T fugly back then. I remember I used to crave for a Razr when it first came out.
I bet you did too.
*Those are the older days*
Valicore @ Nov 19th 2008 12:04PM
When the RAZR came out I woulda killed for one. I actually don´t think the RAZR was ugly. This monstrosity and the Aura that "inspired" it, however, are just... fail.
Marcela @ Nov 19th 2008 10:13AM
I can feel my sense of fashion dying a little from this...from fugly induced seizures...
Kevin Barnes @ Nov 19th 2008 10:17AM
i know we suffer for fasiooon, ooooor whateeever
sonicwind @ Nov 19th 2008 10:20AM
fugly
Félix @ Nov 19th 2008 11:47AM
I was about to say that too.
the picture itself smells plastic and it adds to an already bad design some fake jewelery that reminds me of sailor moon.
I bet if I ask someone to design a phone I would find uglier noone could do it.
gavinovz @ Nov 19th 2008 10:44AM
That's some bling.
raulr @ Nov 19th 2008 10:49AM
That's actually looks almost identical to the Aura's predecessor, the V70. If you remove the ridiculous bezel inserts, it would be almost indistinguishable from the Motorola V70.
PCIV @ Nov 19th 2008 4:37PM
If only the AURA was cheaper. I loved the V70/W550. If only they made more of those phones now.
chickenator @ Nov 19th 2008 11:24AM
like the one gold bezel. gangsta on a budget.
StalematE @ Nov 19th 2008 12:30PM
I believe the term is "ballin' on a budget"
Valicore @ Nov 19th 2008 12:02PM
I don´t know how I would keep from laughing hysterically if I saw someone pull that out of their pocket to make a call. This is about as pretty as a pair of khakis that someone bedazzaled and put gold glitter on.
matt @ Nov 19th 2008 12:17PM
This isn't an Aura knockoff, but one of the V70, an ancient motorola phone. Look at the photo here :http://www.zdnet.co.uk/i/z/rv/2002/08/motorolav70-img.jpg and compare. These have been around for ages, which explains the specs, which just like engadget reporting are a bit ropey :p
macegr @ Nov 19th 2008 1:01PM
Just *how* ancient, I wonder...
If Caller ID shows your mother-in-law's number, can you close the iris?
ZaxCG2 @ Nov 19th 2008 1:03PM
Is it me or does it remind you of an Indian/Middle-Eastern trinket?
Uncontrol @ Nov 19th 2008 2:23PM
better looking than the actual aura
