Konica Minolta prepping thumbdrive-sized projector
It was inevitable, really. With outfits like Dell and 3M taking projectors to a whole 'nother (tiny) level, it was just a matter of time before someone else came along and made those pico projectors look gigantic. Enter Konica Minolta, who is reportedly developing a projector that's just 1.6- x 0.79- x 0.3-inches, or slightly smaller than your average flash drive. The unit will supposedly use lasers, mirrors and black magic instead of light bulbs and lenses, and it'll still be capable of beaming out a 20-inch XGA color image from a distance of just under two feet. Sadly, this keychain-bound PJ won't be ready for pickup at your nearest grocery store checkout aisle until at least 2010, but you should probably start preparing yourself for its awesomeness right now. They are "gonna" call it the "Konica Minolta Projecta"
are not!
is that your projector or are you just happy to see me?
humor attempts aside, amazing to see what companies are doing with projectors lately. cant wait from them to be built into phones and laptops
Actually.. that one should be... Is that a projector, because you DONT seem to be happy to see me!
I wonder how much porno will be projected all over the place from random pockets once these things release.
Probably an awesomely huge amount.
I'm sure if they're cheap enough, every high school student will have one to project awful things on their teachers while they're writing on the chalk/white board.
Way to raise the bar there AVG. The fact that you use the word "awesomely" (doesn't exist) in reference to porn projection shows where your mind is.
The teachers better start prepping low level EMP grenades to detonate before each school day.
@kjb434
Right. And your comment shows me where the stick is.
Shoved way, way up your ass.
@ kjb434
Awesomely is an Adverb, look it up
chalk board? are you from the past? lol interactive smart boards now my friend lol
SMALLER!
Those Kinoca Minolta people sure have some chutzpa, gumption, cojones, grit, mettle, pluck and a little bit of spunk.
But do they have moxy?
In my office, my desk is against a wall. It would cool to pop out a thumbdrive and create a dual screen setup on the wall! I can put hulu on it and have a proximity sensor to shut it off when the boss walks by.
Don't worry, I'd really use it for productivity.
Assuming House is educational.
just make sure you don't accidentally use a proximity mine
Just imagine the possibilities. You could have a very small phone with a huge screen.
what other possibilities are there?
Isn't that what R2-D2 used in "A New Hope"?
"Luke, you're our only hope"
Dude......wasn't it "Obi Wan Kenobi....."?
Uh.... yes definitely was Obi Wan.
GTFO. We only accept full fledged Star Wars fans here! >:O
Wonder what the input would be. I'd like to see it fit a VGA port on it! :D
A VGA input would be way, way too big to have on something that is the size of a thumb drive; especially when that thumb drive in question is actually a video projector. Wishful thinking dude...

This is really happening, isn't it? I had this dream where I was able to project images from my crotch and now I can make it a reality. Thanks, Konica Minolta!
