Oh
M8, you've grown up before our eyes. It seems like just yesterday we were looking at your early incarnations and their
uncanny similarity to certain other devices. And how could we forget those times we spent together
waiting for you at
trade shows, and
mocking checking out your early hardware? And now look at you, all grown up and caught on video doing your thing. You know what? This actually looks pretty damn nice. Sure, the obvious major iPhone influence is still there, but we have to say, Jack Wong and co. have done a pretty good job of smoothing out this UI -- and we didn't expect to see multitouch working this nicely. Of course, the clip says more than we ever could, so go and wrap yourself in your grandmother's afghan, grab a steaming cup of coffee, head out to the porch of your 19th century farmhouse, and just listen to the wind chimes and smooth sounds of this video as you take a tour of the Meizu M8... after the break.

yeah i know, but it will be better if he edited the tags / file name.
Great Teacher Onizuka and Full Metal Panic?
I'm sold.
Looks like it lacks flight mode. As for the keypad lcd display I still prefer SEs version of the dial # screen. Large numbers and eventually small to fit as many rows as needed. This one is only stuck with one row, hopefully they'll fix it. Otherwise not that great of a flaw...
I saw an airplane icon in what looked like the settings panel, so I'd hazard a guess that there's a flight mode. Or it comes with an optional bluetooth jet.
In order for telecomm devices to work in the US legally wouldn't they need an FCC ID or permission in order for the M8 to run legally? Otherwise it's not legit?
Fantastic job, Jack Wong.
But is there any information about SDK for the Meizu OS? I really doubt if it can support 3rd party development well.
Jack Wong said that there will be an SDK and an app store (think iPhone, Meizu also wants to keep some of the profit etc.). Which kind of frightens me, because I want to be able to run regular WinCE/WM apps too on the thing (like in a compatibility mode?), otherwise it might be not as interesting.
Of course there will be the SDK to be release.

And 3rd party software for WM could be running on CE 6.0 as long as they don't require the specific module for WM. Like TCPMP and COREPLAYER can be running on CE.
It would be interesting to see how Windows Mobile 7 team respond to this. Both M8 and WM7 share the same Windows CE base, but Meizu's UI is way more ahead.
One of the testers installed Route 66 on the M8 and is using it with an external BT GPS device. Seems to work pretty well and fast. He also mentioned that many WinCE applications can run on it.
