Nyko Charge Station Quad leaves no Wiimote uncharged

It's certainly not for everybody, but if Wii-playing parties are a regular occurance at your place, or if you happen to have a bunch of Wiimotes lying around for some other purposes, you may want to consider Nyko's new Charge Station Quad, which promises to keep four of 'em topped off at all times. You'll also, of course, get four of Nyko's own NiMH rechargeable battery packs with the package, and four rubber battery covers to prevent any unfortunate accidents. Look for this one to hit all the usual locations sometime next month, when it'll set you back $50.

That sure beats the $99 model at my local Best Buy!
PyRo1509 @ Nov 20th 2008 4:21PM
I need to get 3 friends first to justify this...
PyRo1509 @ Nov 20th 2008 4:22PM
Oh and a Wii...
Patriks7 @ Nov 20th 2008 5:11PM
Or maybe find 4 friends that will pay for it all and you just watch them? :P

This would actually pleasure just two girls if you sit them on it correctly.

can someone recommend me an at least two controller charger that charges with the jacket on
I don't mind eBay at all
Rosario @ Nov 20th 2008 6:44PM
Same here, I know it seems lazy to not just take the jacket on and off but its easier to just pop the controller in and out whenever Im not playing. I mean how hard is it for someone to make a charging station that fits the jackets, someone out there has had to make it.
TavisJohn @ Nov 20th 2008 7:48PM
One of these?

agreed. Non-jacket-accessible chargers just aren't convenient enough to justify the price.
It's only a little less inconvenient to just take the batteries out and charge them.
Expanding on a battery charger is easier, as well. $12 = 4 more batteries, or 2 more Wiimotes worth. With a 15 minute charge, it's not a big deal to just charge all 4 Wiimotes with one simple battery charger.
They're universal, too.

I'm seeing these quad chargers pop up in a lot of bars. Wii's are a very popular (particularly bowling and tennis) item to have in a bar and with four charged controllers makes more people involved in playing it.
And amazingly there aren't any incidents of throwing controllers or fights at bars I go to with Wii's.

At a bar? The last thing I want is a drunk person waggling his Wiimote around me at a bar.
Though, it wouldn't be the first time.
kjb434 @ Nov 20th 2008 6:17PM
Jokes aside,
Wii's have become popular at bars where I live. It is safter than dart boards (which is what they replaced in a lot of the bars).
Of course pool cue sticks are still lying around the pool tables!

Bummer...
Still waiting for a four port, induction charger (so I don't have to take the sleeves off, or carve them up).
That is at a reasonable price. $50 is a good price for a 4 dock charger (IMHO).
Ignignokt @ Nov 20th 2008 4:51PM
You all shall cower before the quad-charger
Andad @ Nov 21st 2008 10:59AM
+1 for ATF reference!
Covarr @ Nov 20th 2008 4:54PM
I already have Nyko's old charge station, with only two docks and two batteries. I'd rather use that extra electrical outlet and spend less on a second two-dock charge station than spend more to replace what I already have.

I have a dual charger purchased from monoprice.. thing is, the batteries are drained within a week without even being used. I'd have to keep it plugged in all the time. There is a lot of cheap junk out there that must be environmentally devastating.

Don't these engadgets writers know how to sepp they didn't spell Wii Remote right itsnot Wiimote .
I rather ordanary ni-mh being individuality charged by my somewhat cheap charger than in pairs like just about every low battery capacity lame room taking chargers like this .
El Taco @ Nov 20th 2008 5:37PM
it's slang, get over it
Christy McGrory @ Nov 20th 2008 5:25PM
Like anyone uses their Wii enough to need this.
David @ Nov 20th 2008 5:45PM
meh, I use it more cause my xbox always gives me a red ring of death.
Christian @ Nov 20th 2008 5:42PM
Only thing I don't like on these rechargables is that they bulk up the wiimote a little, but enough to make it not fit properly on the mario kart steering wheel and other accessories.
Harvey @ Nov 20th 2008 5:47PM
I'm currently using a dual charger to try to keep up with the kids. It's impossible! They burn through electrons at a really fast rate.
Having 2 of these quad chargers might be the solution!
miko34 @ Nov 20th 2008 5:58PM
I'll stick with my rechargeable Energizer batteries.
I have the Nyko two remote deal and they take too long to recharge.
The newer Energizer rechargers are fast and the batteries seem to hold a charge longer.
bishopwrath @ Mar 23rd 2009 3:59PM
I used the 1.5V non-rechargables and had no problem. Then, I used energizer NiMH 1.2V rechargables and had nothing but trouble. With a fully charged set of batteries, it continually disconnects from the wii. Does this recharge station have better than 1.2V? It says on the package they are NiMH batteries, so I expect the voltage is the same. Nowhere on the package or this site does it mention the voltage.
