NXE creating HDMI headaches for UK Xbox 360 owners?
The path to Netflix-enhanced glory hasn't been entirely trouble free for everyone, this time it's posters on AVForum noticing a distinct lack of audio on Xbox 360s connected to their HDTV by HDMI. So far suggested solutions for the afflicted include plugging in the hard drive while the system is on, or waiting several minutes before switching the monitor to HDMI, and repeating them every time the system is started. It's not the first time we've heard of UK-centric HDMI weirdness, any of you hearing a whole lot of nothing while gaming (that's not attributable to hard drive installs)?

PS3 had although different problems although problems none the less when it had updates like the mass bricking update a few months back.
I don't understand why sony or xbox can't test the updates more vigourously than before if it's having this much trouble.
microsoft wants everything
I've got this issue, but it isn't just the sound thats the problem, its the video as well.
I had to switch to the component cables to be able to use the 360.
NXE for me, in the US, did cause me an issue. My Xbox Live account will not login automatically anymore and yes, I have all the proper settings checked and I never had this issue until after NXE. F*cking Microsoft...you guys blow!
I have the *exact* same HDMI audio problem in the US after the NXE update.
Same HDMI audio problems. HDD removal work around clears up the problem though. Submitted a ticked to MS detailing problem. Also, I discovered that when there is no audio there are no HDTV display options on Console Settings. When I power up console without HDD and reinstall HDD while powered audio and HDTV options return.
Not just in the UK, but all over the world. I live in the US, use an elite on a Hannspree monitor, and I have the no audio issue as well.
7 page thread about it on xbox.com forums.

Has anyone had THIS issue?...
My XB360 is connected to a 24" BenQ monitor via HDMI. Ever since the upgrade I no longer have options of HD resolutions such as 720P, 1080P, etc!! WTF?! Instead I have resolutions as if I'm using a VGA connection. Also I have NO SOUND coming out of the HDMI... and I live in the USA!
This is getting pretty insane...??
I have a V7 24", its in the same housing as the benq monitor you guys are talking about so its probably almost the same thing, and I can tell its trying to do SOMETHING when i put the hard drive on like that because the static disappears after I do that. I get static before I do the hdd removal replacement and nothing after that. The waiting 5 minutes thing just gets me my nice static back. I hope MS decides to update just to let the audio be selected like on the ps3. I can't play HD on anything but this monitor because I don't have an HDTV. Don't they know that people will find a way to copy movies anyway if that's their goal? This is stupid. By the way I haven't done this yet (I might return the xbox 360) and didn't see it mentioned...
snap off the bottom of the casing around the component or optical cable link that you can't plug in as the same time as the hdmi cable. just the bottom part that gets in the way, you won't break anything inside and its all sealed inside. This won't void the XBOX warranty but I'm sure you cant return one with a busted cable like that. The pieces are glued together, just use a screwdriver. People are doing this for coax, optical, and stereo rca. I read that it sometimes won't work with an aftermarket cable but the ms cable will work.
