Acer yells "me too!" while shoving Core i7-based Aspire M7720 out the door
Ah, the deluge of gaming rigs that comes after each and every major CPU announcement made by Intel. As the overflow slows to a trickle, Acer is looking to get its rig out before it just seems like old hat. The purported Aspire M7720, which was announced over in Taiwan, will arrive in a relatively drab chassis and house a potent Core i7 processor, 3GB of DDR3 RAM, a 750GB hard drive and ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics with 1GB of memory. There's no definitive word on when the rig will actually leave the dock and head stateside, but considering that it's already behind the eight ball, we'd put our money (speaking of, it'll start around $1,200) on soon.[Via Electronista]

List Pros Of Device, List One Con, Then Say I'll Pass or I'll Wait Guy @ Nov 25th 2008 1:16AM
Pros:
- Has the great Core i7 processor
- Probably more power than I'll ever need
- Looks like a rebranded Gateway FX desktop
Cons:
- I'm allergic to orange.
I'll pass.

Same specs and design as the Gateway FX we got at BBY over 2 weeks ago.
Nothing special.

i have a sweet acer with a quad core phenom and ati graphics.
paid 550 from geeks.com and it runs crysis on enthusiast at 1600x1200 no problem.
I mean i can only imagine how it would look on something with a better graphics card but it looks gorgeous on my display.
I can't think of anyone who would need more than that (i'm a gamer and i know how competitive people get with their rigs...) but seriously, if something like this can go for around 1500, why spend 6000 on something? it'll be outdated in 4 months!
Thetwins @ Nov 25th 2008 1:30AM
Could we not low rank "STEVE...," if only so that other people can read that? I hate it when the good stuff gets whited out... (like all of my posts)

Acer owns Gateway. This is almost the exact same computer they launched at Best Buy Stores. Same look, same everything. I think different sized Hard Drive, but that is it. And it is 1249.99.
Acer only generally brings cheap labeled Acer computers stateside and keeps their high end units Gateway Branded.

Acer has acquired Packard Bell and Gateway and so why some of the models are rebranded.
Valicore @ Nov 25th 2008 2:05AM
Packard Bell AND Gateway? They must be trying to build the crappiest computer ever conceived and badly implemented.
