USB powered lunch bag will keep your food hot while you "work"

Hungry for a hot lunch at your desk every Monday through Friday, but don't want to stand in line for the microwave? The USB-powered heated lunch bag is probably something you'll want to look into, then. It apparently keeps your food at a steamy 140 degrees Farenheit all day, though it gives us pause that we're warned to "make sure the plastic container that you store your food in is of a certain grade and quality" to ensure that there's not "an adverse chemical reaction," but we figure that's probably a minor concern. We don't know if the bag will ever be available in the US, but we have a feeling that if it is, it'll be at least double the size of the current iteration.

I'm from the US and what is a shame is that my first thought when I saw the picture was how it looked too small to carry my lunch.....
Sanjay @ Nov 26th 2008 1:30AM
Exaggerated, notice the lunch box, food on both sides, I wonder how he closed it. Anyway does it necessarily have to be USB, a simple design like plugging on to a wall outlet would be much better and safer. These heating apparatus drain so much energy and can be a burden for circuits too and not good for the PC. What about standby mode of the pc, will it turn it off?
Smoke seems to be fake!

"Exaggerated, notice the lunch box, food on both sides, I wonder how he closed it. "
Except most modern Asian bento boxes are double (or even triple) deckers. One for rice, one for the side dishes. Some has extra decks for either soup or snacks.
hubert @ Nov 26th 2008 3:36AM
i'm from europe and wonder why that thing has to carry that much food just for lunch...
zfurie @ Nov 26th 2008 10:42AM
I'm from Central Africa, and you have food?
seriously, support your charities. merry christmas!
Flashpoint @ Nov 25th 2008 7:11PM
As ridiculously nerdy as this seems at first, I'd make it slightly larger.
School teachers for example who bring lunch to school (as well as other people who take bagged lunch) would LOVE THIS.
Imagine not needing to microwave your food before lunch...just plug it to your desktop.
broli @ Nov 25th 2008 7:35PM
I like microwaving food.
Richard Lai @ Nov 25th 2008 9:35PM
It'll definitely be bigger when it enters the Western market, otherwise epic market research fail.
University students will love this too! These guys will make a lot of money if they can get the bags shipped over to us in time for Christmas.
Homeboy @ Nov 25th 2008 7:12PM
There we have it guys, Christmas gift of 2008! Now barricading yourself in a room for a round the clock WoW gaming as there is now a USB fridge, USB hot water cooker and last but not least a microwave.
Ignatius @ Nov 25th 2008 7:36PM
They'll probably need a robot as well, to get the pizza from the Dominos guy.
Messymeese @ Nov 25th 2008 7:44PM
Wow, WoW? What are you thinking, are you TRYING to ruin you life? Have you already succeeded?
Ricardo @ Nov 26th 2008 5:04AM
You will probably need a USB toilet too.
Nihility @ Nov 26th 2008 3:48PM
don't forget the "toy" USB vaj-j
BigD145 @ Nov 25th 2008 7:16PM
Anyone had one of those burgers or hot dogs from under the heat lamps at gas stations? That's what your food will taste like. Naaaaaaaasty.
Johan S @ Nov 25th 2008 7:18PM
Hey those don't taste bad.
Anyway, this is different because it will be maintaining the warm temperature of a sealed food container rather than reheating.
Messymeese @ Nov 25th 2008 7:47PM
Not just gas stations, add McDonald's(a curse upon their soul) to that list.
@Johan S
I once bought a chicken sandwich from a gas station, and I almost threw up. It reminded me of.... McDonald's...
Steve @ Nov 25th 2008 8:49PM
@Messymeese: When McDonalds starts forcing people to eat their food then you may curse their souls; until then, in the immortal words of Doug Heffernan, SHUTTIE!!!.

Oh... good heavens. That's certainly cheered up the evening somewhat. Good job.
Loonie @ Nov 25th 2008 7:27PM
Man, how many USB ports @ 5V x 500mA does this thing have to be plugged into in order to obtain sufficient heating power?
Antoine @ Nov 25th 2008 7:27PM
Nothing like a warm moist environment to cultivate bacteria at an exponential rate. Oh yah, that's why refrigerators were invented...
Rob @ Nov 25th 2008 7:27PM
The all-day smell would probably get annoying to co-workers.
Aztec @ Nov 25th 2008 7:33PM
Steamed broccoli anyone? What a pleasant smell.

Hmm, keeps it warm all day, bacteria stew, yummy!!!
Salmonella, not just for dinner any more...
iEye @ Nov 25th 2008 7:49PM
I'd rather eat MRE's
other than that I'll stick with the thermos full of soup...
Sola @ Nov 25th 2008 8:08PM
Why not stick with a Mr. Bento? Does the same trick, uses no electricity.
E. Leigh @ Nov 25th 2008 8:16PM
I'd buy it if it made my lunch...
Imagine a USB device that made lunch for you...that's a tech advancement.
eNriqueLeGrand (PSN) @ Nov 25th 2008 8:23PM
What do you mean by "While you {work}"?
Actually I Am at my Work right now.
Ohh...
Hardcore @ Nov 25th 2008 8:59PM
Now, can they make one that both cools and heats or maybe one that just cools - aka a portable refrigerator so I don't have to share one with 5000 other people at work.
Steven @ Nov 25th 2008 9:18PM
click on the pic id eat her for lunch haha
Erv @ Nov 25th 2008 10:40PM

TomBurroughs @ Nov 26th 2008 1:57AM
Yup, those "steam clouds" are definitely photoshopped clouds...like from the sky.
hustler @ Nov 26th 2008 3:17AM
Now you don't need a place to live anymore, you could live in your car and save a fortune.
gad get @ Nov 26th 2008 6:53AM
Wow, that's weird. I read your comment as "Now you don't need a place to live anymore, you could live in your and save on torture."
Philip @ Nov 26th 2008 5:10AM
"a little more, even more delicious to eat lunch in wife to be."

Vanguard @ Nov 30th 2008 6:50PM
Yes ... now I'm convinced the we have everything. We have finally arrived, if this is the best they can come up with as a new 'hi-tec' invention.
