Apple's US Black Friday sale now live
What started down under has followed the sun home, Apple's Black Friday sale is now live at the US Apple store. At first glance the sale is consistent with years past and what we've already seen In Australia and elsewhere -- so much for all the analyst expectations of a big blow out.

fart
I second that emotion.
I'd like to add a fart as well. There.
I'm farti...
Ops, squirted some shit.
wow, is that what Apple calls a sale? Hardly anything is reduced, there is no reduction of MBP and with edu discount enabled only the entry level MB is discounted.
Thanks Apple for not making me sorry that I didn't wait for the BF sale event :)
expected so much more....
yet got F'd over by apple again.
great sale, the true essence of black friday was captured by apple this year.
Bravo
we all applaud you and your 4%
The ad says 8GB for $378. Thats no bargain since the normal price is $229 for the 8GB. :-)
Since here in the UK the rate of VAT (value added tax) is being reduced to 15% as of next week, these savings are even worse.
iPod Nano -
standard price - £109.00
15 % vat price - £106.68
Sale price - £104.00
saving - £2.68
or 2.57% of the vat reduced price
Quite possibly the worst heavily advertised "sale" I've ever seen!!
If you read the site you'll see that they will adjust the sale prices to account for 15% VAT on shipment. Order today at the 17.5% VAT price, they ship later at the 15% VAT price.
Just realised the iMac is an even worse offer -
1.79 % saving over the VAT reduced price
save yourself the grief and money..buy a copy of leopard and hackintosh it...live content in knowing that your rig runs faster than a real mac
"Playstation 3 $199, Bottle of Jack Daniels $20, look on steve jobs face when he found out that osx was hacked to run on pc hardware $Priceless"
OK, I can see that you'd save money, but "save yourself the grief"? Are you kidding? If you want to save yourself hassle then just buy a Mac and then the OS is already installed. You can't get much easier than that without the thing teleporting into your house and plugging itself in.
@Kelmon...grief as in slow and under performing hardware
In what way is the hardware slow and underperforming? It's the same basic components that you'll find in any PC. I'm sorry, the 1990's called and they want your FUD back. Sure, you can buy faster computers if you are willing to compromise but you can hardly call any current Mac "slow". Even the Minis are fast enough for most things, although that's mostly testament to how good the Core 2 Duo processor is. Still, with a name like "applehatr", I guess we're not going to have a rational discussion of the subject, or spelling for that matter.
PS. You might want to try clicking the "Reply" button. Works a treat and does what it says on the tin.
I'm gonna screencap this years store... we'll see if next years prices are any better. See you in 365 days!

There's something wrong with that.
1.By next year before black friday we'll probably most likely have newer iPods.
2.How do you know Apple isn't going to make a new version of their Macbooks, iPhones, iMacs etc.?
The pic still made me lol.
He's going to compare the SAVINGS.
> "How do you know Apple isn't going to make a new version of their Macbooks, iPhones, iMacs etc.?"
I don't know for sure. Apple seems to makes new iPhone every year, but the Macbooks have a few years before updates. It will be good to compare, though...
I'm just doing this to see what the Apple website store look like in the future.
Does anyone have any previous years screenshots?
I agree, the 'sale' sucks as a Black Friday event (they shouldn't really have bothered). But the planets aligned enough for me this morning that I'm content with what I got:
Purchasing 8GB iPod Touch as Christmas gift, regardless of price
Saved $21 through Apple's Black Friday 'sale'
Saved $1 more than if I'd gone through Amazon
Baby woke me up at 3am anyway
Christmas shopping now done, and birthday, too, because it's expensive enough to be a combined gift
= Win all the way around for me, though I'd expected to get the 8GB Touch for under $200 (less than 15% off), I guess there was still too much stock in other stores of the 1st Gen Touch around, and I saw they are going for around $190.
What happens at Apple......stays at Apple. Keep you products.
they'll still sell as much if not more than any other retailer. why sell yourself short if you don't have to.
flame away...
NewEgg to save the day!
8GB iPod Touch $229

Bento for $35 is a great price.
I guess I'll be buying non-Apple products this year :)
In todays case... Apple is actually cheaper than Newegg
This is not awesome but...does it need to be?
fucking ridiculous discounts..
40 bucks off an imac ? 11 bucks off an ipod ?
fuck that.
Apple Canada's site has Black Friday (even if we don't traditionally 'do' the day) sales, too - and, like the site sales from the US and Australia, a wave of indifference rolls over me on these 'deals'.

Seems that any sale price of merit - taking the product from insanely overpriced to just outrageously overpriced - is the $101 they've taken off the basic MacBook. Heck, that sort of deal is less than what they offer students at the beginning of most academic years....
Clearly, Jobs continues to look to Scrooge, PT Barnum (and quite possibly the CEOS of The Big Three) for inspiration - and not Santa....
These do not look like deals, They look more expensive than they were last week. An Ipod touch for $378 8 GB, you can get a 32GB 2nd Gen for that price or a little less. Whats up with this?
Why post about this super lame sale? It's like 5% off most items - WOW SUCH BIG SAVINGS THANKS APPLE!
These prices are not all that great, Auzzie's got a much better deal
MacMall. There prices are cheaper than Apple's discounts, but then end in 9 seconds
wow not much of a sale but you got to take what you can get
Next Black Friday??? :(
Luckily through BB we already get $10 off a 8GB nano on apple's site, so with the BF discount, it was $21. While it still ended up being $137 after tax, it's probably the cheapest I'm gonna find it until they end up on ebay. That's the gift for the girlfriend. Glad I didn't buy earlier.
