Rogers selling the BlackBerry Curve 8900? UPDATE: Yes indeed
Word on the street is that people have suddenly (and rather unexpectedly) started to be able to buy the Curve 8900 on Rogers for $179.99 on a three-year contract with support for the carrier's Talkspot UMA service. Why this wasn't heavily advertised leading up to the release, we don't know -- folks seem to be red-hot for this release -- but at any rate, you should be able to stroll into your local shop in the next few days and pick this sucker up. That eternal question comes up yet again: Curve, Bold, or Storm?
Update: Game on -- according to Boy Genius, the Curve is now listed in Rogers' internal database and retail stores are starting to get stocks. So what's it gonna be?

Welcome to Canada. Our wireless industry sucks.

Yup, that's the Canadian wireless industry. The average mid-range phone costs about 149$ with a three-year contract term and 70% of all our monthly options (plans) aren't available without a 3-year term. These options are usually the best and most affordable of course.. Oh, ya and we pay 12$ a month extra for Caller ID+Voicemail.

Our wireless industry sucks because stupid yo-yo's keep signing up on contracts. Get out of contracts so we can take the power back - buy your unlocked phones on ebay for pete's sake.

WOHOO! I've been waiting for this...
Considering the Storm was just released, Im a little surprised...But it's good, because that means I should be getting it soon (in my area, not me personally...yet)
:)

The 8320 (the first Curve here w/ wi-fi) just hit their stores in Toronto ($50 on a 3 year term, on a Plan costing +$35/month), but I've not yet seen the 8900.
The 8900 looks to be a matt finish, which would appeal to me as I I've found the glossy finish on the older Curves - especially on the keys - a challenge to view in anything but indirect lighting. Practical experience anyone?
I took a look at the Pearl Flip (8220 - $20, 3 year Plan of +$35/month) too, and while the size of the device and the large matt finish keys appeal, a test drive of the SureType keys was, ahem, less than satisfactory. Sales person said 'I'd get used to it", but why should I? Surely the point of these devices is that make life easier for us, not to have to retrain each time we pick up something?
But I digress...
Meanwhile, while not wishing to speak ill of the dead (Ted Rogers passed away yesterday), his Company continues to rape and pillage the Canadian wireless community with hysterically expensive devices and data plans.
