GPS, Medion launches 5-inch GoPal P5430 GPS in Europe
It's been a nice little while since we've seen any new navigators from Medion, but the outfit's hitting back with its relatively forgettable GoPal P5430. The European PND sports a 5-inch touchscreen display, integrated TMC antenna, fingerprint sensor, text-to-speech functionality, an inbuilt FM transmitter and pre-installed NAVTEQ maps of Western and Eastern Europe. Like we said, forgettable -- but you should know it's priced at £175 ($269) just in case you're tempted.

Stop smoking cable insulations. It's not good for you.
Medion are good for making cheap high end equipment...the only drawback is that they don't have a well known brand and that they don't spend much money in the actual look of their products...but what's under the hood is usually good value for money...

Ooooo....Can't wait for the Australian Aldi to stock it!!!
5"-screen? Isn't a little too big for such a device?
Used one of those during a road trip through Austria and it was quite good, actually. I was pleasantly surprised, especially for the cost.
Medion also makes a netbook which is pretty much an Acer Aspire One clone that isn't half bad (for the cost).
Maybe instead of expanding their vocabulary, Engadget should just get better reviewers.
- Julien, what more do you want from the "look" of their products? This is a very clean slick black case a with probably the best looking graphics of any GPS unit, I like this as much as my Navigon. It's leaps and bounds above the big names.
As far as size, this would be great if you used it primarily in your car, which I would guess is where most people use it?
