SanDisk slashes some prices for the weekend, heading into world's worst-named Monday
"Cyber Monday." You probably couldn't pick a worse name for a day of conspicuous, retailer-defined consumerism, but you're welcome to try. SanDisk decided to forgo the Black Friday insanity and instead run with three days of Cyber Monday sales, with up to 60% off those boring, ever-necessary flash memory products it's so well known for -- and Sansa players aplenty.

Sure beats Apple's sale.
Don't get me wrong, I'm somewhat of an Apple fanboy. But 5%? That's not even enough to cover California's tax.
Brian @ Nov 29th 2008 2:04PM
What? An Apple fanboi that complains? I thought you people LOVED being shat on...
Hotrod @ Nov 29th 2008 3:03PM
I can't call apples sale pathetic. The reason why is because I would be calling myself pathetic for paying the apple tax in the first place when I bought my iMac. (run-on sentence from hell)
Actually never mind, apples sale was pretty pathetic. I'll call myself that if it means I have to prove my point.
eggothewaffle @ Nov 29th 2008 1:52PM
Which one would you rather cyber on Monday with? The one on the left? Or the one on the right?
Connor @ Nov 29th 2008 2:00PM
The right.
Samboini @ Nov 29th 2008 2:57PM
Menage a trois people, menage a trois.
The Dude @ Nov 29th 2008 3:08PM
Neither.
Watch the one on the right take the one on the left.
Patriks7 @ Nov 29th 2008 3:23PM
I think I'd take the memory card on the nose of the right hottie :$
Ops @ Nov 29th 2008 1:53PM
if her pictures not enoughg to scare you off, those prices sure are. where are the sales?
Mobius_1 @ Nov 29th 2008 3:02PM

PaNiD @ Nov 29th 2008 9:49PM

ack154 @ Nov 29th 2008 1:57PM
8 GB flash drive for $23? Newegg had them for $9.99 yesterday.
You know... I saw "cyber monday" in another news story somewhere else today and actually had to go look it up. It doesn't make any sense to me. Why would people wait until Monday to do their online shopping? They don't have internet at home and must do it at the office?
404 @ Nov 29th 2008 2:10PM
Slashdot ran something about it being predicted to be more popular this year than last.
"Whereas Black Friday is associated with traditional brick-and-mortar stores, "Cyber Monday" symbolizes a busy day for online retailers. The premise was that consumers would return to their offices after the Black Friday weekend, making purchases online that they were not able to make in stores", according to wiki.
First I've heard of it...
Noshino @ Nov 29th 2008 3:06PM
Many reasons actually:
-You don't want your girlfriend/wife to find out what you are getting them...
-Many have traveled for the thanksgiving weekend, most return by Sunday
Why are people complaining? they are slashing prices goddamn it
Sometimes it feels as if people just argued for nothing, next thing you know there will be guys complaining about why there is a girl at their door asking them to have sex.
Austin R. Range @ Nov 29th 2008 3:24PM
I might complain if it's the girl from the story pic, unless she has a hidden killer bod and is sporting a paper bag on her head.
ha @ Nov 30th 2008 4:53PM
You think thats hot? Well I got a 32 GB flash drive for just 30$ w/ free shipping from buy.com!
calvinki @ Nov 29th 2008 2:01PM
Not even one Compact Flash card is on sale. BS!!
asg84 @ Nov 29th 2008 2:02PM
wonder who made the advertisement , not at all eye catching
better learn from samsung or LG about how to market using pretty girls :)
anyway deals are good
mos @ Nov 29th 2008 2:06PM
LG, Samsung and Sony have better female models than ScanDisk.
Chris Are @ Nov 29th 2008 6:58PM
So did you not mean to misspell "Sandisk" or were you somehow insulting them by calling it "Scandisk"? (Oh snap!) I just want to know if I missed a nerdy joke or not.
1234321 @ Nov 29th 2008 2:17PM
the sale prices aren't as good as newegg's regular prices
Nightfly @ Nov 29th 2008 2:32PM
Arn't you guys forgetting about the value-added crapware SanDisk adds to thier USB flash disk products? Of course it should cost more...
Erv @ Nov 29th 2008 2:41PM
Some sale.....Wally had the Sanza Fuze 8gb for $60
Patriks7 @ Nov 29th 2008 4:58PM
No, he means Sanza Fuze..
Benson @ Nov 29th 2008 11:55PM
I'm gonna guess he meant Sansa Fuze.
Unless he meant a Fuze from Italy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanza
Messymeese @ Nov 30th 2008 1:51AM
Did you guys know iEye has his own website?

Bill Grove @ Nov 29th 2008 2:44PM
Don't' know if it's still going, but I picked up 3 4gb Sandisk Extreme III cards from Amnova yesterday for $60. What's so great about that? Sandisk offers a $60 mail-in rebate if you buy 3 cards! That's right... memory cards for FREE! Can't beat that deal!
Bill
gerrrg @ Nov 29th 2008 2:46PM
First, those prices don't beat the ones you can find at most etailers, and secondly, you can find faster flash memory for cheaper than sandisk. Sorry, but buyer beware.
sinai @ Nov 29th 2008 2:48PM
cyber mom day? gross
The Dude @ Nov 29th 2008 3:24PM
Uh-oh. Sounds like somebody's got a case of the cyber-Mondays.
Kimleng @ Nov 29th 2008 2:56PM
This sale is lame. Ritz Camera had a way better deal! 3 Extreme III 4GB SD cards for free after rebates! Hell, even Adorama has better deals than this ALL the time. I pity da foo who thinks this deal is awesome.
ace587 @ Nov 29th 2008 3:07PM
oh ya its not apple, everything non apple is ugly and boring to engadget
Austin R. Range @ Nov 29th 2008 3:29PM
I don't know but the current MacBook and MacBook Pro have been bashed for their looks by some long time Mac fans I know.
ace587 @ Nov 29th 2008 5:15PM
i was referring to engadget itself
chickenator @ Nov 30th 2008 1:43AM
please, this is not apple-related.
crsh @ Nov 29th 2008 3:26PM
Who the hell came up with "Cyber Monday" anyway? Please tell me he got fired for it.
Down @ Nov 29th 2008 3:48PM
So that leaves me as the only one who doesn't think Cyber Monday is a bad name.
El Taco @ Nov 29th 2008 5:42PM
you're not. I'm just as confused as you are with why they think its so bad.
MarbleMind @ Nov 29th 2008 5:48PM
No, it doesn't. What gives me febrile convulsions is that picture up there. And the way it is animated on their site.
C.A. @ Nov 30th 2008 7:53AM
I'm pretty sure most people find it off-putting because "cybering" is something completely different and not that appealing. It is nice to be innocent though :)
Salsa Shark @ Nov 29th 2008 4:15PM
They promise to do better next year if you stop spamming your blog...
MRLN @ Nov 29th 2008 6:26PM
I've seen the same stuff in a Best Buy catalog for about $10 less each...

"Meet me behind the barn after the sale, big boy."
Fant @ Nov 30th 2008 11:04AM
You can pretty much get the 4gb sandisk sdhc for $10 retail now at best buy and staples. I noticed they didnt have any sales on the Exterme line of SD cards. B&H has the 8gb extreme SDHC for $15 AR. Of course you can just do what I did and get them 8gb extreme sdhc for $20 shipped from ebay (after 30% instant live rebate). All in all a great time for camera owners who are trying to decide whether shooting in raw is worth the extra space ... now it doesnt cost much more ...
