Canceled 5-megapixel Nokia slider almost looks like a fake
If this thing were coming from any source other than the legendary Eldar Murtazin of mobile-review, we'd go ahead and assume this was a knockoff nabbed off eBay for a few bucks -- but amazingly, we think it's the real deal. The dead-on-arrival burgundy slider with gold accents looks like it could've been part of a reinvigorated l'Amour series (or something along those lines), clearly putting styling at or near the top of its priorities -- but it also steals the 6260 slide's totally capable guts, which means it features a 5-megapixel camera, tri-band 3G, and a 480 x 320 display. If they had to choose between this and the 6260, the right model came out on top -- but we gotta admit, it's so far outside Nokia's styling comfort zone that we find it tolerable in a really sick, twisted way.

I actually thought that phone looked nice.
asg84 @ Dec 1st 2008 10:06AM
looks cheap, better nokia canceled this model..........................
btw why endgadget blogging about dead products
and this must be series 40 model, because no separate menu button and "c" key if its series 60
Zane @ Dec 1st 2008 10:10AM
Yeah, it's definitely an S40. S60 devices would die of embarrassment if this were to be one of their brethren.
sha1dy @ Dec 1st 2008 10:20AM
why? many s60 are like bricks - you can hit with them any mob who is trying to rub you.
KIFF @ Dec 1st 2008 10:36AM
My E51 begs to differ. So slim yet so tough. Probably true I can hit iEye's iPhone with it until he cries.
Zane @ Dec 1st 2008 1:44PM
Uh oh, I thought you were talking about the svelte and sexy E71. I'll agree with you that the E51 is a great device to hurl straight into iEye's face. Doing that won't cause you a grave financial loss either.
DaveMode @ Dec 1st 2008 10:10AM
They shoulda just slapped a Prada label on it and watched them sell like hotcakes.

Phoenix @ Dec 1st 2008 12:34PM
Um no... If I trade $1 for £2 (say) then something taht would be $1 is going to be £2. That's without tax, factoring in that and the RIDICULOUS amount most companies add on for some reason and it;s more expensive here.
OCEAN 'CLAK' 20th @ Dec 1st 2008 10:18AM
what if the iphone was made their? you'd be wetting yourself to get one
sha1dy @ Dec 1st 2008 10:18AM
Excuse me!
Vertu comes with platinum body and gold buttons, and this is just a peace of crap.
papari @ Dec 1st 2008 10:21AM
So now you're extending your Nokia hatred to the whole of Finland, uh? You got some serious mental problems, pal. Finland has some of the world's finest engineers and there is nothing you can do about it!
sha1dy @ Dec 1st 2008 10:26AM
they got a very good Vodka too
ZSX @ Dec 1st 2008 10:30AM
Nokia makes some really amazing phones, and their S40 phones are reliable, with some of them coming with features that rival most smartphones. If this phone had the guts of the 6260 slide then it would have been one such phone.
That said, I have never been a fan of Nokia's 7xxx-series 'style' phones. This is a particular good example of how a horrible colour, leather inserts and a weird chrome spider-web pattern can make an otherwise great phone totally undesireable. Perhaps Nokia also realised this?
MattWPBS @ Dec 1st 2008 10:37AM
Oh go on, tell us why you'd buy Euros to visit the UK instead of GBP. I'm sure your arguments will make as much sense as your overarching fascination with all things Apple.
OCEAN 'CLAK' 20th @ Dec 1st 2008 10:38AM
In england pound are worth nearly twice the $$$, meaning double gadgets
G @ Dec 1st 2008 11:36AM
I must admit i'm a bit of a Nokia fanboy, but this is one of the ugliest phones i have ever seen, i hope the rumours about it getting cancelled are true.
Almo @ Dec 1st 2008 11:37AM
C905 has an 8.1 MP camera, not 5 MP. And no one buys Sony Ericsson anyway..
ZaxCG2 @ Dec 1st 2008 11:57AM
Cmon' Nokia... not these slidy/touchbutton phones...
It reminds me of the Chocolate...
WHICH SUCKS. BADLY.

I don’t see whats ugly about this device. The color and what looks like touch sensitive buttons may be a little offputting but the symmetrical design looks to be a better than the recent N Series devices with the gross colors and swirl/wave patterns on the backs. The Prism was horrible in my opinion but it still made it to market. Keep the design and give it to me in black and I would be a happy camper. I don’t know about the rest of you but when I use my phone I’m looking at the screen, not the back. Also, my hand or a desk is usually covering the back. Unless I’m taking a picture. And this has what looks to be a xenon flash so pictures would be great since this should have the same camera and other 5 megapixel N Series devices.
