Mio said to be prepping GPS-enabled 3.5G touchscreen handset for Q1 2009
Not that Mio hasn't pumped out a GPS phone or two before, but the rarely-heard-from handset maker is reportedly on its way to delivering its first 3.5G touchscreen-based GPS phone in Q1 2009. Undisclosed sources singled out at DigiTimes have it that the mobile will be powered by a 3.5G chipset from Qualcomm and will come loaded with Mitac's self-developed "Spirit" touch interface. Additionally, it'll pack a 3.2-megapixel camera and should launch ahead of Garmin's oft-delayed nüvifone. In related news, Mio is also scheduled to launch a GPS-packin' MID before Q1 2009 ends, though it's still unclear if it'll choose a 7- or 8-inch panel to accompany the 3G radio and Windows CE operating system. Riveting stuff, huh?

'i' don't like this iphone knock off looks cheap
@Clak
Die already!
When I purchase a product, I usually ask myself:
#1 does it do what I need it to do?
#2 does it do what i wnat it to do?
#3 if this thing stops working, can I get it repaired or refunded?
#4 does the company selling this constantly provide firmware/software support.
I trust Hewlett Packard, Microsoft, Apple and Sony because with most of their warranties, I know if I have a problem I can get it repaired or replaced without having to spend money.
I could never by any Chinese products unless they are backed by a warranty that I can have mitigated here in my country.
I think the mio looks good but, I'd have to give it extensive tests before I'd trade over from my iphone. Just looking at it, I don't trust the user interface.
I actually liked the mio iGo map interface, and they animations were smooth and fluid... (C310s)
FYI...Mio is a Taiwanese-based (NOT Chinese) company just like ASUS, GIGABYTE, MSI, etc.
However, I guess their manufacturing factories could be in China...but who doesn't?
The questions should be, what can you do for the device!? But make sure it's on when you ask, not just the light :p
thats very cool
3.5G touchscreen...
Isnt my HTC mogul a 3.5G with a touchscreen... (and keyboard)?
Thats actually GPS device not a phone so your trolling loses.
Perhaps you need a reading comprehension class, or two:
"reportedly on its way to delivering its first 3.5G touchscreen-based GPS phone"
Luckily for me, your mum is cheap.
Well going by the lack of support and lack of upgrades availabe for the Mio DigiWalker I purchased a little over a year ago I think im going to avoid buying anything from this company in the future.
android is taking too long
