Few have been spared the satire of Matt Groening's long running animated sitcom. Last night,
The Simpsons took on Apple, or uh, Mapple for a full 6 minutes of lampoonery -- a pretty harsh ride at a two-joke per minute pace. It all starts when the Springfield mall gets its very own Mapple store, "it's so sterile," gasps Lisa upon entering. Perhaps the best exchange comes from Bart's dubbing of a Steve Mobs' product announcement in front of a crowd of gaping nerds, "You think you're cool because you buy a $500 phone with a picture of a fruit on it. Well guess what? They cost 8 bucks to make and I pee on every one!" A Mapple store employee then angrily responds, "Who dares question the boss we fired 10 years ago and then brought back!" Yuk yuk. Videos after the break for as long as it takes for the copyrighters to wake up.
[Thanks, holycow]
I love Apple products and Steve and even I thought this was a great satire.
Lol, love the hammer throw reference to the old macintosh ad.
I love it when simpsons take the piss out of people.
Someone(s) are going to need a CryPod to cry on after this. Or call their friends on their CryPhones and wahhhhhhhh about it. Maybe they can watch these video clips on their CryPods or CryPhones? Nahhhh they'd have to buy them online 1st. That aint happening.
And then they can go talk to their CrySis about what happened while using their CrySys! ...wait a second.
true they cost eight dollars to make, but that Jobs pees on them? let me lick mines to see... yep thats also true...
I actually thought the "I Pee on ..." was a pun on the Vint Cerf "IP on Everything" saying ... where there were tee shirts showing a cartoon peeing on ... with the slogan IP On Everything.
Actually Mapple didn't invent probaby any of this shtuff. Neither did Mickey Soft. It's all in marketing boys and girls. And the joke's on us.
Good thing that this is the first cartoon that doesn't mock arabs as terrorists living in tents and going to work with a camel.
Like American Dad and Family Guy
Good job Simpsons :)
True that most Americans are very open minded and thing positively about the Arab world, unfortunately some are very closed minded and think otherwise. Hopefully this episode will give those people a better idea about Arabs and Muslims.
Actually, they did an episode where Homer stereotyped Arabic people as terrorists, and he wound up getting his ass handed to him by the man he was stereotyping.
LoL, I don't think I recall this episodes,, I have watched all the DVDs that are out now (from seasons 1-11)
I watched the last two seasons on tv and a few bits and pieces from seasons 12 to 18, (the current one is 20 or 21 right?)
Anyways what I meant is that the other cartoons (Family Guy and American Dad {especially} ) really shows arabs and muslims in a bad way,,,
Not saying that the entire middle east is made up of huge cities like NY and LA, but there are many cities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain that are becoming huge and advanced like American and European cities, take Dubai and Riyadh for example... Riyadh was shown in American Dad like what it was 200 years ago, made of sand houses and using camels as main transportation...
Anyways, I hope American Dad and Family guy make new episodes where they show the middle east in a good way
Hey, when I notice that there is a new update to my iPhone, I imediately go to engadget and check out how it's been reviewed so far. I dig that. It's just comforting knowing that there is a "news" reproduction blog that tends to my interests. I love you engadget.
Anyone who saw the second vid (vids got nuked, damn they're fast) notice the magical shrinking box at 0:04?
I bet these 5 minutes did not cost 300 million dollars, but they are certainly more hilarious than the MS attempt.
Arg. Can't we just use the Hulu embed? I know the little commercial can be annoying but it's guaranteed to be up. Let's break the habit of youtube guys, unless we need cats on roomba of course
Hulu doesn't work outside of the US...so go YouTube!
Somebody removed youtube videos, but don't worry I upload them to http://www.livecrunch.com , will post soon and let Engadget know.

The videos are no longer available. How about linking from some other hosting site? YouTube is shackled by THE MAN!

LoL, It's been deleted.
I was playing the Simpson Game on the XBox 360 and in the Lisa the tree huger episode at the end before Lisa and Bart save Carl and Lenny from the saw blades of death, Carl among many quote blurts out, "Things like this won't happen when Obama is President." Mind you, this game was released back in October of 2007. There has to be something going on. Check it out………
I think my favorite moment was the "1984" commercial reference.
The Youtube videos have been removed due to copyright, i was able to find them at the following link, http://www.innovaciousmarketing.com/?p=130
See Simpsons on Hulu

Copyrights my ass. Some just can't handle the reality of being mocked & the truth. That 6 minute lampoon of Apple in a nutshell was oh so true. But alas I still love Mac OSX.
You can view the full episode for free on Hulu.com. Properly licensed streaming. It's the best thing to happen to the internet since porn!
Funny how the comments look here
Dim comments made by dim people.
Got a kick out of this. And unlike some Apple fanatics, I didn't get all upset about the "jealousy" of anyone in this. I got the joke, though. They brought back the "Cube"! Yay! The undersea HQ was a very nice touch. LOL
Hey! the video is no longer available :(
Yes the iPhone is a great product but 2mp camera? No stereo bluetooth? No flash? No removable battery? Only accepts a charger authorized by apple? I can go on for a long time about how worthless the apps are from the application store. Why are there no categories? Why is every stupid application have it's own icon? Why do I have to search through dozens and dozens of random apps so I can find what I am looking for? Why are there no real programs? I can say most of these things about my iPod touch as well, but I will add the the 2g has the crappiest speaker I have ever heard in my life. My cell phone has more capabilities the my "mypod touch". I still can't get over the fact that I was duped into buying a iPod touch that I thought I could use without headphones. I even contemplated suing Apple in small claims court over the 2g. Apple's engineering department is sinister....
