Scosche vomits out reviveLITE "cordless" iPhone charger / nightlight combo
Look, we know haphazardly stapling an iPod dock onto nearly any product can cause almost-paralyzing fits of hyperbole amongst marketing personnel, but Scosche's description of its sad little reviveLITE nightlight charger as "cordless" because it plugs directly into the wall might take the cake. Oh, wait -- you know what actually takes the cake? It's priced at a delightfully insulting $40. Yeah, we'll stick with the monster under the bed, guys. At least it respects us.

At least put a speaker on it so I can listen to music while I'm in the shower.
Big Al @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:40PM
Wait, so do you use a nightlight when you take a shower? How does that work?
Chad @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:50PM
@Big Al
Ya, you should try it... the extra light will shock you. As a bonus, the nightlight is a little easier on the eyes if you use the bathroom in the middle of the night.
ch4s3r @ Dec 4th 2008 1:08AM
Try taking a shower with nothing but a night light on, its peaceful.
SITEiNK @ Dec 4th 2008 2:58AM
it's probably best suited for use in hotel rooms in situations where the plug is right by the bed.
iEye @ Dec 4th 2008 8:37AM
Are you mad?
iPhone in a steamy bathroom.. water damage?
I'll be happy to show you all an example with a crap Nokia phone I have..
Steve @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:42PM
Honestly, I don't see the problem in it. It's definitely overpriced but it's simple and compact. It may not but be wireless but you'll get over it...
Actually though Engadget, did the monsters under the bed keep you up all night? You seem kinda cranky.
Sachin @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:46PM
I agree. Engadget seems to be pretty biased against a lot of these really cool products lately. Focus less on what you think the readers want to hear, Engadget - we come here for your opinions.
Here's mine: that looks wicked cool. If I had an iPhone and $40 to spare, I'd be ordering one right now. That thing looks like it might even be able to store a charge for emergencies.
E. Leigh @ Dec 4th 2008 12:12AM
I think they've come here for that and the Asian models...perhaps that should be the real complaint with this product: where is the Asian hottie to peddle it? (Though, I really am here to get the opinions).
bjsguess @ Dec 4th 2008 12:18AM
This qualifies as really cool?
Ghen @ Dec 4th 2008 7:23AM
This is dumb, ugly, expensive, and using marketing trickery to make you believe its the newer wireless power buzzword rather than just a charger without a cord. How is that cool?
Idlemind @ Dec 4th 2008 9:01AM
This thing would be great to charge my phone on those night I crash at my girlfriends house.... Oh wait, I dont have a girlfriend... :(
Flashpoint @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:44PM
$40?
When I read this, I burst out laughing because I suddenly thought of Engadget's article about the sweat detector watch where they superimposed "REALLY?" over the picture.
Bassir @ Dec 3rd 2008 11:46PM
Wow, I've been waiting for something like this.
But 40 bucks? Wow.
who? @ Dec 4th 2008 12:09AM
Nice use of the word 'vomits', haven't heard that one in a while.
jupiterthunder @ Dec 4th 2008 12:15AM
They need to make a model that has only an LED for those who don't want to sleep with a nightlight. Or a model with no lights at all for folks that use their iPhone or iPod Touch as an alarm clock.
I like it. It'd be nice if all my rechargeable devices could be mounted flush against the wall without cords dangling.
Benson @ Dec 4th 2008 12:55AM
Tape. If you can afford a $40 dock, surely you can scrounge up $1 for electrical tape...
holycow @ Dec 4th 2008 12:16AM
I've always wondered why Apple hasn't 'integrated' a dock in its laptops? A slide out dock coming out from the side would be simple to implement and would totally rock. I guess this will never happen even though i think its a brilliant idea as they are not going to give up their unibody case.
Lemmiwinks @ Dec 4th 2008 12:16AM
Now, and ipod dock on a pitbull... *that* will keep the monsters away.
SuprXY @ Dec 4th 2008 12:57AM
I am gonna have to go with Gizmodo on this one and say it's pretty cool. Overpriced, but if I wanted a nightlight and was into charging my iphone in the bathroom this would be great.
But, why the hell would I charge my phone in the bathroom?
Bernhard @ Dec 4th 2008 12:59AM
Does it come with Back-up Power? You know, when your House burns down and people like iEye need to save their all-important little wonder machine before being cooked alive and sent straight to hell for engadget trolling...
Ford Mustang @ Dec 4th 2008 1:36AM
Your whining over $40? Have you ever seen what some of the Apple accessories go for? $40 is nothing in comparison. I'm not sure why they added nightlight but the overall idea is actually pretty sweet. I'd much rather have something like this than a "corded" model like those from Apple in which you have to use your original USB wire in conjunction with the wall charger.
Matthew @ Dec 4th 2008 2:27AM
I'm embarrassed for anybody that want to buy this.
superhobo @ Dec 4th 2008 7:26AM
Me too.
Dirk Lucas @ Dec 4th 2008 7:30AM
Can you give reasons other than your wish to offend people?
Matthew @ Dec 4th 2008 12:09PM
Probably because it is ridiculously overpriced, and pathetically tacky. I wouldn't pay a cent over $15 for this waste of plastic.
John Mansky @ Dec 4th 2008 8:34AM
iphone dock = $9.99
+
Nightlight = $1.99
= $39.99....wait....what?
Jake @ Dec 4th 2008 9:04AM
Throw in a glade air-freshener attachment and I'm sold!!!
Mark @ Dec 4th 2008 9:09AM
Hey, if Apple's own products can be overpriced and still sell to all the Apple Cultists, why can't the accessories? Plus, ever been in a moderately priced hotel in Europe? When the only outlet is nowhere near a table or other surface, it's drop your phone on the floor or go with something like this that can support.
There's a button on it. I bet that turns off the light.
