gOS Cloud instant-on OS shown on video
Good OS' latest operating system was just announced this week, but already some cool cat with a video camera and some serious credentials has managed to record a sneak peek. Quite honestly, the instant-on gOS Cloud system isn't all that amazing to watch tick, but if you're looking for a brief glimpse at what's apt to be fleshed out at CES, head on south of the break.

Can be fake, as Google Chrome wasn't ported to Linux yet, and that doesn't look like Crossover Chromium or themed Firefox either
Err... Google Chrome is Open Source so its free for all to use.
Just because google only released a windows version when it was released it doesnt mean noone can port it on linux.
also gOS is NOT google OS.
It's joost ah BRAUSAH!
@NickNick
Just to state how clueless you are, everybody knows it's opensource, but the state of Linux and Mac ports are really really crude right now, as it doesn't even have an interface yet
I'm saying that you can be sure that isn't Chrome, it could be just a image of the browser on a background, for marketing purposes
Go read more before talking bullshit (http://news.cnet.com/8301-17939_109-10094939-2.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-20)

"also gOS is NOT google OS."
You really need to say something like that? EVERYBODY knows that, and that has nothing about I said
Good OS is actually partially funded by google. Just because there isn't a Linux version doesn't mean you can't permission to use a pre release linux code.
@Paulo and NickNick
There are more web browsers out there in the Linux world than are available for windows. Common browsers like Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera are not even the default browsers when you install a Linux Distro. If you use KDE it is Konquer if you use Gnome it could be almost anything.
Until recently major Distros like Ubuntu and Fedora didn't even install Firefox in the default packages it was an additional package you either had to select or download and install.
Under the hood that could be anything. I just think its hilarious how your obsessed with it being Chrome when the Linux browsers will work just as well in an instant on environment and they have the benefit of more time and testing. The only thing I care about is that it isn't Internet Exploder, that's what makes any of the Open Source browsers a good choice.
@Tarnation
Oh my god I don't believe I'm having a lecture about browsers in Linux! Man I use Linux for more then 10 years now, when we still used Mozilla.. I already used Dillo, Linx, Konqueror, Mozilla, and many many others... So don't give me lessons about that
My point is that this thing is a total fake, because they are showing a browser that doesn't even run on Linux! You can even see Windows gui style on buttons (I know there is gtk themes for this)
And if the browser is fake, how can this video has a minimal of credibility?
@Kris120890: I don't know who told you gOS is partially funded by Google, but they're wrong. Read the bottom of the gOS website: "gOS is not affiliated with Google or their partners."
@NickNick: Chromium is the open-source project on which Chrome is based, but the Linux port is not in a usable state yet. Read: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/LinuxBuildInstructions
Plus if you watch the demo on YT by David Liu, the guy from gOS, he says that they've skinned Firefox to look like Chrome (at 0:18):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S17HL0xU9cQ&fmt=22
nice...wtf is this guy?
This guy is a Homo sapien, also known as a human being, a mammal belonging to the Hominidae family.
not bad..
nice for when you need a quck engadget fix
Smartphones fit the bill for that kind of purpose though...
Google will own us
This is obviously a fake. "I don't have wifi" yeah right...
Oh god, that guy will get so sued!
He used "Mini" in the name of the computer!
The only amusing part was watching the reflex of his huge head dodging the camera to look at the monitor.
i would say he's German.. that narrows it down :P
yeah its fake. if you look when he hovers over the exit and minimize buttons at the beggining on chrome, its the vista buttons at the top. even red for exit and blue for minimize and maximize.
How can people be SO stupid by not believing this is a fake? I mean, it's obvious this browser isn't a browser, it's just a background image or something like
See also this one, commented by David Liu and precisely timed : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S17HL0xU9cQ
You can watch it in HD if you add the &fmt=22 like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S17HL0xU9cQ&fmt=22
He says that it's a modified form of Firefox. WTF?
Chrome is based on Linux's Chromium.
Linux had Chrome before Windows.
What's with all the experts in here KNOWING this is fake? STFU
What's with you not apologising to Drita.
you bastard.
Like I said during that exchange...I'm spoiled. Not my fault she doesn't do it for me.
Dude... are you asking for a ban?
You should keep your opinions to yourself.
You actually think I'd get banned from a tech website for stating a girl doesn't do it for me? I don't think that's what this site is about, but hay whatever.
Hold on a second here...
Why is the YouTube video not wide screen like all of YouTube?????
Because it's embeded...

Guys, there were two versions available... one on the MSI Wind and one for the Gigabyte M912.l I had the chance to play around with the both of them. Unfortunately i could only take this video in between 2 speaches and there was no wifi available.
I should have said it looks like chrome but yes, it's a firefox which i also figured out later when i was already on my way back to germany...
I am gonna add an annotation to the video...
Well and for these guys who are doing all these wonderful "fake" comments:

I want to try gOS
if its an "instant on os" why does the video demoing the instant-onness have to be more than about 1 second long?
I bet you can't say Google four times in a row without spraying coffee out your nose
Google Google Goo-*spray* ...shit!
On the subject of cloud computing: I personally think its bad idea, and a security nightmare for companies with employees and others as well. But, this argument has been going on forever and I cant help but argue.
It can run Vista but not XP

Is this really a gadget site? If it was, I would have been expecting the majority of the site's visitors to be geeks, but for some reason I'm seeing a surprising amount of ignorance in the comments. Yikes!
As for gOS Cloud, if it does as it promises then I wouldn't mind having it. It's perfect for those times when all you want to do is to get online quickly without having to wait for your laptop or PC to boot up. A quick, limited-use OS for when you need to get online in a hurry? Why the hell not?
Just download the .iso and boot the disk, give it a try and see for yourself it's not fake.

How-to: Install gOS 2.9 Gadgets
Once your download is complete, it’s time to burn it to a DVD and install it. Here’s how…
1. Burn the ISO file to a DVD
The file you downloaded is an “ISO” which you need to then burn to a DVD. Look for a special option in your DVD burning software that allows you to create a DVD from an ISO file. Click here for a list of DVD burning software
2. Keep the DVD inside
After successfully burning a DVD, keep your new gOS Space DVD inside your drive.
3. Reboot your computer
With the gOS DVD inside, you should reboot to see a new gOS menu screen.
4. Select “Start or install gOS”
Wait patiently while gOS loads up from the DVD
5. Double click the “Install” icon
It’s the green gOS disc icon :-)
6. Follow the instructions to the finish
When you’re finished, you’ll have to reboot.
7. Enjoy!
Make sure you’re connected to the Internet so you can enjoy all that the gOS Web Applications other apps bring to your new gOS desktop!
Stupidity come at 99% of the population being 99% has an I.Q. of 101 and below of that, 90% of the 99 has an I.Q. of 81 and below the key is "Below", so for examples sake I have to read 100 entries before I read one that might make any sense?
No wonder there is so many "Idiots" on these "Blogs"?
If only they were smart enough and had pride enough not to post their "Idiotic rants" for all to see? But then again, This post would only be 1/100th of the size? And the humorous part of all this is that 99 out of 100 think they belong in the 1%?
Now that is Funny!
