iLuv's iNT170 internet radio-alarm appears, no one's too excited

Not to be left out, iLuv's also brought out another internet radio / alarm combo and it looks exactly like you'd think it would. Only cooler. The iNT170's packing access to 15,000 radio stations and podcasts through its built-in WiFi, aka INTERNET (see photo). It's got two 2.5 watt jAura sound speakers, a dual alarm clock, plus a 3.5mm line-in if you need to plug in your PMP. The clock self-updates via INTERNET, so you'll never be able to use that Daylight Saving Time excuse for being late to work again (we recommend the "flooded basement" or "sick cat" in its stead), and you'll have the option to wake to INTERNET or regular radio in addition to the old standby buzzer. It's available now for $199.

Wifi? Theres no point of that unless theres a full fledged browser. That way, I can wake up, and browse the web on my friggin alarm clock!

I think it is a great idea. Not a $199 idea though.. I was thinking more like $50.

"INTERNET" reminds of how people talked about computers back in the 70s.
craig @ Dec 4th 2008 5:00PM
You were around in the 70's? There were computers in the 70's?
Iggy @ Dec 4th 2008 5:07PM
I know what you mean. Like when TV shows and movies used to dub in teletype sounds when CRTs were displaying text at about 110 baud to make it sound 'computerish'.

Yes but will this stand being flung across the room .. impacting a wall .. and thereby silencing the "mad noise", post huge night out?
No? .. sorry .. pass

My problem with alarm clocks for most geeks is that all these feature laden toys forget one thing: geeks wear glasses. Without glasses we can't see the actual CLOCK, which is a tiny font on a tiny display. Like, it's an afterthought to put a clock onto a gadget which is sold as a clock.
Woah like DUH. If an alarm clock doesn't have a huge display that can be filled with just the time, or a projection feature common to a $10 clock from the local department store, FAIL.

Is it me or is a alarm/wifi/speaker thingy without a iPod connector and 2.5W a bit crap for 199$?
I was expecting some nice speakers on this one but no sir.

If it worked with Sirius internet radio it would be worth it. I would love to wake up to Howard Stern Show.

Looks like a Chumby does more, for less...

or you could buy a PSP for around the same price and cheaper, it streams internet radio. Just hook it up to any stereo in the house and presto! You got internet radio. And of course it plays games!
The Joker @ Dec 4th 2008 11:53PM
I checked into that. PSP Internet radio is horrible. Can't set specific stations. Only browse by genre. I would prefer a PSP and hopefully this (along with the screen issue on the 3000) will be fixed. Browser is also horrible.

For those interested, this is $150 on Amazon but kinda vague about details. No reviews.
The Sanyo in the next story may be better.

Would this work with Pandora?
