Moritz Waldemeyer's keyhole surgery box tests your nerves
Okay, so let's get on the same page here: Operation. Now that we're all focused on that goofy looking guy flat on a table before we all lost our innocence in this Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, let us introduce you to Moritz Waldemeyer's crafty little box. Simply dubbed keyhole surgery, the device is more or less a 3D version of the aforementioned board game, designed to see just how steady you can hold the key and complete the puzzle without brushing up against the wall. We get this idea this is one of those "easier said than done" thingamajigs, wouldn't you agree?

"This is the key to the greatest treasure in all the land...."
"OOOOoooo........Can I have it?"
This wold be an awesome little toy IF you cold take apart the pieces and rearrange them to create your own puzzles.
I want one.
please insert key into hole....BUZZ!!!!
Coming to your local theme park to rip you off in 3...2...
The Voralberg key...
Shocking! Or at least it could be with that metal key!
As the Reigning Champion of Operation at St. Bon's School from years got past. I bet I can do this on my First try...
I bet you all the Internets that you can't....
All the internets? Even mine? I don't think so.
You got me there EricC...I should have asked you first.
I'll reform my offer to betting all Internets except EricC's Internet.
not my internet!
You're On!
fine, scott can keep his internets... but he is here by banded to dial up
This is clever.
Electrifying
Can't wait until someone comes out with a robot that does this in 0.05 seconds
can you rearrange the plates to switch up the puzzle?
probably not, or only to a very limited degree.. you have to get the end and start point of the adjacent plates to match
actually, it wouldn't be too hard. Just create a standardized square with a gear shaped interior, then create a standardized gear shape that fits inside it, that way all you need to do is punch out a couple slot and wedge shapes and you're good to go. You could even have that standardized too, so that there are multiple slots and wedges that are punched into the gear and can be temporarily removed to create the passages.
Sure it would be possible to create non working puzzles, but that's all on the shoulders of the guy who builds the puzzle from this thing.
oh, sorry, I forgot to point out, but the reason that you'd want the gear shape is so that the circle could be rotated so the wedges are in whatever position you need them in. Obviously that's not how this puzzle is designed. But a puzzle COULD be designed that way.
This puzzle would drive me nuts.
looks deviously hard.
I wonder how many will end up getting smashed out of frustration. Looks sturdy enough to take it. Might be the plan...
kinda reminds me of something out of saw
Perhaps this could be made even more challenging. Whenever your key touches the metal, you get an electric shock (limited in time of course).
Comes with a free block of Cocaine Resin! Winners get enough to make one joint.
Don't tell me im the only one who thinks it looks like that?
I'm assuming most people here know more about lucite than crack.
o
That game is *seriously* easy to beat. Just dip that key in some liquid electrical tape... problem solved.
When someone gives you a geek problem... use the geek solution.
That's like solving a hedge maze by using a combine, only less awesome.
i want one for my front door to my house.
Are you the Keymaster?
I am the Gatekeeper.
This would drive me insane......
