LG goes insanely retro with Franklin Planner branding on SU100 phone
What do an old-school paper day planner and a phone with a 3-inch OLED have in common? If you answered "absolutely nothing," you'd be correct -- but LG apparently didn't get the memo, because they've decided to grace their latest domestic superphone, the SU100, with the rather unusual Franklin Planner branding. Besides the presumably gorgeous display, other totally un-Franklin features include a 3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and an S-DMB TV tuner, which should all make for a nice, smooth transition for anyone still committing appointments and contacts to paper in the year 2008. The SU100's launching on South Korea's SKT for about 700,000 won ($475) with a white version following on next month.

Um... Focus on the wrong subjects?
* cute girls not included
@Aaron
Are you sure? That's definitely a deal breaker for me ;-).
Do we have female readers in the house? They don't seem to object to being objectified...
That's because females reading engadget almost never get objectified.... *FUGLY*
It seems to me, every Japanese product I see photographs of has women attached to them.
This means either one of two things:
All Japenese "bussiness men" are infact, women.
Japanese women are born fused to various types of technological items.
@maty: LG is Korean.
gg for ignorance? LG is japanese...
@Maty/Alex Kim: LG is a Korean company.
3" OLED screen??? I want!!!
i see a total of four pairs in this picture....maybe i shouldn't focus so much?
Woo! My dad still uses his Franklin planner.
I wonder when he's gonna join us in the 21st century. :P
Memo to Apple:
The next iPod Touch should include a built in microphone, 3.2M camera and OLED.
Let's go already!
Keep dreaming on the microphone...
3.2 is not good enough these days .. 5 minimum, 8 desirable and 12+ achievable .. but for goodness sake at least have autofocus! Oh and a vga front cam too.
U aviously don't own the new slimmer iPod touch. A 3 meg camera and a mic, have u seen how slim that thing is,,that's why their such a success . U can't cram all that stuff in it ,it's an mp3 player. A widescreen video iPod with speaker, best sensors ever, 3.5 mm jack , 30 pin connector technology ,best multitouch on any device in the history of touch screen, over 1000 apps, not to mention the best handheld browser known to man besides a pc that is. Sounds like u better off getting iPhone 3g,this lg is far from an iPhone killer,,
5MP on the iPod Touch? Seriously? The iPhone has had a 2MP one for 2 generations now.. if the iPod Touch will ever get a cam, it will one 2MP..
The girl on the right is cuter
My vote goes to the one on the left. Smiley eyes ftw
I dig the one on the left. The girl on the right, her arm looks so disproportionate to the rest of the picture.
Like I could pick my teeth with it.
Agreed. Girl on left looks like a cartoon.
Mmm, new gadgets AND objectifying women, all in one post! What more could an Engadget reader want?
I'd take both, if it's allowed
totally agree... better facial proportions FTW!
Nice ties.
Again engadget?!? Bravo.
Why has Engadget not added a GadgetWaif tag to all such posts?
Please, sir, I want some more
id like to go insanely retro on those models. wait...
retro like what your mom and one of your dads did
guys, seriously, this whole "yellow fever" thing is not only creeping me out, but it's definitely creeping out the girls.
second that. i wanted to post "NEITHER." first but I havent been on engadget all day haha
If you got it you should definitely go see a doctor and get it checked out.
According to the CDC site www.cdc.gov/ncidod/dvbid/YellowFever/index.html
Yellow fever virus, a flavivirus, is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes. Illness ranges in severity from a self-limited febrile illness to severe hepatitis and hemorrhagic fever.

guys, seriously, this whole "yellow fever" thing is not only creeping me out, but it's definitely creeping out the girls."
Who wouldn't be creeped out if you got it... Definitely anyone would be concerned...
I sure don't see any yellow or Homer Simpson types around in the picture or I'm quite off j/k...
(forgot to add tidbits of info from CDC in the previous post) Yellow fever occurs in tropical regions of Africa and in parts of South America. Yellow fever is a very rare cause of illness in U.S. travelers. The last epidemic of yellow fever in North America occurred in New Orleans in 1905.
xconan, you must be a real hit at parties
Does anyone want to make a comment about the phones?
what phones?
I will. Looks like an iPhone. (I'm getting the BB Storm, FTW)
(For Chris... and because neither girl is worth a comment ;p)
Why is LG making a phone clearly targeted for businessmen (and women) with an OLED screen? It seems like a waste to me... I guess it would go well with the S-DMB ($10/month. +$3/month for the "adult" channel), but as far as I know, most prefer T-DMB, which is free.
Insert a comment saying something along the lines of "In before an iEye comment suggesting that buying something from LG rather than Apple makes you sterile or something" here. >.>
sorry, i'm more of a white rice not yellow rice kinda guy.
Lets see what can they do to fuck this up, umm tri band like they did with the prada?
Why are the women in the pictures on engadget always so hot. It makes me care even less about the gadget.
lol
They aren't that hot...
you must be new here
lol... It's usually the presentation of the product that sells. Sometimes the product sells well itself but adding cute potential users or victims of such product will help it sell too.
Chris Zeigler, uh, where have you been? Franklin has been making software for the palm pilot for the past decade.
Yeah, I think they even physically had their name on a Palm III back in the day. This is definitely not out of the blue.
I rest my case.
Alright. First, to clear up stuff, I do NOT own an iPhone.
The interface looks so similar to the iPhone interface. I don't know so much about phones, so please, correct me if there is an interface the iPhone 'copied' from. Ill be glad to accept the knowledge and discard this comment as a spurious blabber.
