Mysterious T-swivel handset appears on Korean site, keeps us guessing
Here's a Sunday challenge for you -- what in tarnation is this thing? The mysterious T-swivel type handset has appeared on a Korean site, presumably signifying its status as a simple concept. Obviously, the device packs a full QWERTY keyboard, a front-mounted camera, a rather sizable display and a swivel contraption to keep things horizontal when texting and the like. Beyond that, your guess is as good as ours here. Any clues on this thing's origins? We only ask because, you know, we'd love to actually toy around with one.

how am i supposed to hold it at landscape mode? it seems it would flip over if i hold it with 2 hands by the keyboard
Hey, nobody associated this with the LG VX9400?
http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/23/verizon-rolls-out-lg-vx9400-second-vcast-tv-phone/
It is called DMB phone, Digital Media Broadcasting, which allows you to watch digitally broadcasted media. Also it has camera on the by the screen because video telephone became almost as standard as just picking up the phone and putting it on your ear.
You're all wrong. It's the tricorder from that awful new star trek flick.
LOL, that would just be sad.
i have a verizon lg vx9400 it has a t swivel too
Baby got back
Reminds me of a LG 9400.
Thats gotta be the biggest damn phone ive seen since the 80s
its definitely from out of state, i would say maybe Europe because they have video calling, thus the need for a camera on the front.
i'm from korea, ALL phones look like this.. everyone watches tv in the subway and stuff.. no big deal
It's a Palm prototype.
It's a Bamung 40GS, Google it.
The keyboard looks like the Palm Centro, or am I the only one who has a Palm that would notice.
Didn't palm hire the helio guy?
It is pretty ugly too. Notice the absence of an o/s...
I just hope these comments go for someone at Palm to hear them. Those that are critical should also make constructive suggestions or keep their comments to themselves. If you have nothing good to say, sniping is not a good solution. It is destructive.
Right now our destructive ways are coming home to roost. We need to be more constructive and supportive of each other and of US companies. Then we might actually turn this country around.
Competition is good and what makes better products. That has happened here. The competition has left palm behind and palm needs to find that competitive spirit and become a leader has it once was all over again.
i think thats either a really really small trackpad or its a middle scroll pad and a touch interface would most likely be the mouse control. just a guess. the keyboard reminds me of the old treos. iPhone or one of the HTC's still look like they would beat the specs and usability of it.
What I like best about this Palm prototype is one-handed 'wide screen' capability together. I also hope that is a trackpad.
Oh to kick back and be surfing and texting in one hand and a cold margarita in the other :-)~
