Comcast adds USA HD, Discovery HD and SciFi HD in Pennsylvania / Delaware

While the residents of the Steel City just received a trio from Comcast, it looks like other markets in the state (as well as Delaware) are preparing to receive three others. Specifically, subscribers in the Philadelphia suburbs of Willow Grove / Montgomery and Bucks Counties, as well as New Castle, Delaware, will be seeing USA HD, SciFi HD and Discovery HD shortly, with potentially unfounded promises for lots more in the future. Don't worry about tomorrow, though -- just enjoy what you've been blessed with today. Full release is after the break.

Comcast Delivers More High Definition Choice to Customers in Penn. and Del.

Comcast Launches New Networks in Willow Grove, Montgomery and Bucks Counties in Penn., and New Castle, Del.

PHILADELPHIA – Comcast Cable announced the addition of new high-definition (HD) programming choices for its customers in the Philadelphia suburbs of Willow Grove and Montgomery and Bucks Counties, as well as New Castle, Del. USA HD, Discovery HD and Sci Fi HD join Comcast's extensive line-up of HD programming, which currently delivers more than 1,000 HD choices that are instantly available to customers any time of the day or night.

"We consistently hear from our customers that they can't get enough high-definition programming, and we continue to deliver more HD content than any other provider," said Amy Smith, regional senior vice president of Comcast's Freedom Region serving the Philadelphia Metro area and New Jersey. "Whether it's movies, sports, network shows or other programming, we will bring HD to our customers the way they want to watch it – live or on their own schedule."

More HD, More Quality
Comcast makes more than 1,000 HD movies and TV shows available every month, as well as the most popular television networks in HD as they debut. HD content is the fastest-growing category in Comcast's On Demand library.

In addition to offering the most choices, Comcast has a better HD picture than satellite, which has been backed by an independent study that shows even satellite customers preferred Comcast's HD picture quality. In a "blind" survey conducted earlier this year, two out of three satellite customers expressed a preference for Comcast, saying Comcast had the better HD picture quality in side-by-side comparisons.

More Value for Customers
Additional HD choice from Comcast is part of an ongoing investment the company has made for its customers to increase the value of services, including an industry-leading video on demand library with 10,000 programs, the most HD viewing choices and the launch of Comcast Digital Voice, its residential phone service.

As Comcast's On Demand library has expanded to offer more than 10,000 selections each month, viewership has grown dramatically, surpassing eight billion views since 2003. Comcast customers now are selecting On Demand 120 times per second, with 300 million views monthly.
