TN Games HTX Helmet lets you feel those headshots
Impact gear isn't exactly the hottest peripheral out there for game consoles, but TN Games is apparently finding plenty of hardcore gamers willing to splurge on its FPS Vest. Now, the outfit is finally getting official with its HTX Helmet, which we first heard about as the year began. Utilizing the company's 3rd Space technology, it's designed to be used in conjunction with the 3rd Space Gaming Vest and will enable wearers' to feel blows to the head when fired upon. We're talking bullets whizzing by, impacts of shots -- the works. If, for some incredibly odd reason, that sounds like your idea of fun, be on the lookout for a 2009 release.

Sweet... Not going to lie... Could make finding people to fill easier if I hear a bullet wizzing by my head.
Someone let FPS doug know.
lol +1
BOOM HEADSHOT!
hell no, then all the nooby fps players would get concussions/major brain damage.

-As if they don''t already?
This isn't really useful because if you're getting shot repeatedly enough in the head in most modern FPS games for the helmet to work, you won't live long enough to use the vibrotactile cue to localize and attend to the threat :\
Looking like a Knob is both standard and free.
At least it might wake you up while your watching a msg4 cut scene....
Would repetative impact and vibration cause damage to nervous system? Who wants to find out?
i'll find out if you buy it for me
my favorite thing to do in an FPS is to sneak up on people and deliver a shotgun blast to the head, i wonder if all shots are equal. if not, ouch.
i can only imagine going over to my friends house who's addicted to cod4 and america's army wearing this.
....and laughing my ass off.
xDD
Talk about feeling the burn. This put a whole lot of sayings on a different level
Brings a whole to meaning to "BOOOOOOM! Headshot."
No it doesn't, it maintains exactly the same meaning. Moron.
This is not hardcore enough for me. Someone should make a helmet that actually shoots you in the head when you get shot in the game. You die in the game, you die for real.
I'm afraid noobs at CS will become an extinct species very, very quickly.
That might encourage me to lose less often .......
what'll happen if the character in game is hammered on the head?
Why are you still playing Wack-A-Mole? Hammers? Are you serious? Man. What a loser. Epic Fail.
My gravityhammer'll kick ur butt....
TN Games has a TV Ad I see all too frequently for their FPS Vest on one of my local channels.
It makes me want to both puke, then hunt down whoever was involved and inflict some life-altering pain on them.
Imagine the worst of the worst kind of gaming ad. The "Look at me! I'm playing a video game EXTREEEME! PEW PEW PEW!", standing up, in front of a sh**y looking computer, on a white background, jumping and weaving and dodging the "shots" and looking all intense while an "EXTREEEEME" announcer explains how it "TELEPORTS YOU INTO THE GAME WHERE YOU CAN FEEL GUNSHOTS, PUNCHES AND EXPLOSIONS!"
Please. Stop. For the sake of humanity. For the sake of people who are trying to encourage the idea that gaming is a NORMAL pastime, and that it's accessible and fun for everyone.
I hope this company dies in a fiery pit of bankruptcy, lawsuits, scandals and electrical fires.
This would be awesome if the vest ACTUALLY killed you...
luckily, anyone who ever builds a prototype dies before the idea makes it to market.
Ai Yah! More crap my American friends are buying, I will call my factory manager to double working hours from 11 to 16. Thank you lazy kids of America, please please buy more Nerf guns, so future sons of lazy kids can learn to use real guns, bang bang! Ka boom! The expensive gweilo financial adviser tell me this thing call paradox of thrift, he say if lazy American don't buy crap this xmas, China children will have to eat the cardboards packaging!
USA! USA! USA!
What exactly to cardboards come packaged in? I mean... I thought cardboard was the packaging.
Are you proud to be a crayon?
11 x 2 =/= 16
You shouldn't let you Econ101 friend speak for you as it just shows how incompetent you are. When you post this under anothers advisement, and they are all BS, that means you know even less. Try looking some things up on Google before you talk smack, or in your case you should try
Google for Pros
. It is obvious now why you chose the screen name CRAYOLA, the only word you leaned to read, from years of "Art School" right?
Yes! a virtual way to simulate being shot in the head! -.- Now if I could only get one for when some douche shoots me in the balls.
I for one would rather have a helmet that makes the people I shoot feel it.
Question is, do you feel a headshot at all?
I think, depending on the angle, velocity, and impact of shot, you're given about .1 seconds to feel it. Except you really don't. You're just kinda transported to another world really, while your mind attempts to compensate loss before complete obliteration.
I vote for one for OJ Simpson.
Id get a headache... but very cool
To me, this is a normal helmet. I dish headshots, not take them.
it's bad enuff getting pwned, nevermind feeling it too.
For $20, I'll come over to your house and smack you in the back of the head everytime you get shot. How's that for realism?
This kind of thing only works if games have code in them for it, and since most games (sadly) don't even have basic forcefeedback anymore I'd hold off buying this unless you like novelty items on your shelf.
Mind you philips have introduced that amBX ambiance thing and that requires detection in games too and they seemingly got companies to support them, and theoretically this company could have drivers that piggyback on those signals so there is some hope.
For completeness: http://www.ambx.com for info on that ambx thing and the list of games that support that (after using supplied patches).
