mophie's iPhone 3G Juice Pack unboxed and tested: high marks all around
Curious to know if your Benjamin will be well spent on mophie's iPhone 3G Juice Pack? TestFreaks is out to make sure you have an accurate answer to that, and judging by their report after two solid weeks of usage, the response is an emphatic "yes." Not only was the device sleek enough to not be incredibly cumbersome, but it actually performed as advertised. Reviewers were able to get their iPhone 3G from near-death to fully charged (twice!) on a single mophie charge, leading them to conclude that it "basically doubles the run time of the iPhone 3G" in a worse case scenario. Granted, even they couldn't overlook the particularly large price tag, but if you've been running bone dry with any level of frequency, we suspect the asking price won't matter nearly as much.

So the iPhone 3G might actually be able to last a day with this thing.. too bad I wouldn't want to pay $99 extra for something the phone should already be able to do.
The only time the phone lasts less than a day is when I use it to do something un-phone-like. (gaming, etc). Stop comparing the battery life to other phones, how long can you go on a PSP before you need to recharge (oh, right, about the same length of time). For phone and surfing getting to the end of the day is never a problem.
And yes, I have a juice pack, too, because then I can do whatever I want on it, and recharge the thing using my old moto V3 car charger. Juice pack $100-$40 for a new "iphone dock" car charger = $60 net upgrade fee.
I usually get two days without a charge on my iPhone 3G and I am a heavy user. I bought a battery extender and find I never need it.

So what's the point of including these kind of features on the device if using them will basically handicap its battery life considering the iPhone is meant to be an all in one device is it not?

Well, either your phone is a fluke or our definitions of "heavy use" are extremely different. My iPhone 3G would barely last me a day with moderate usage.
I'll stick with my Richard Solo 1800!! I'd rather have my choice of case. It's $40 cheaper and comes with a car cigarette lighter adapter with TWO usb ports. The battery has a flashlight and laser pointer. SO much more functional

It's hard to think of another single product that exemplifies everything wrong with Apple in quite the succinct fashion this product does.
My 3G iphone is sim-unlocked and I believe: due to the fact that there're 2 sim cards running in the phone, my battery does NOT last at all. I get about half a day of battery if I'm lucky. I don't talk on phone much but use EDGE, push email and bluetooth a lot. Maybe that's why.
I love this mophie. It allows me to forget my extra car charger and extra wall charger. I used to have to carry them along everywhere before.
The only problem i have (it's actually my own problem, not mophie's) is that I have "invisible shield" installed all around my phone. Because of the shield's sticky nature and extra thick film, it's close to impossible for me to attach and remove the phone from juicepak. Gosh, if only the juicepak is smaller, I wouldn't have to remove it after each charge.
iPWR is a better solution compared to Mophie.
Both Mophie and iPWR have 1800mAh of capcity, iPWR is much smaller, only half of the price. Very compact size.
I bought one, it works great!
