Pink is totally the wrong colour.
YpoCaramel @ Dec 9th 2008 10:08AM
I know. Seriously Engadget: Micropods have been out for years in many colors, white, black blue etc.... Seriously, did you guys even bother going to Scandyna's site?

Quote: Colours: White, Black, Silver, Blue, Yellow, Red.
I use their bigger Minipod brothers and they're a good set of speakers. They're pricier than you're Klipsch or Altec Lansing multimedia speakers, but a really much better sounding, though compared with other good bookshelves there is a small design premium. At any right, Minipods have been out for years... literally.

Way to douche it up not only are they pink but they are 300 dollars.

I have a black Pod amp that I use to drive a couple of ceiling mounted speakers (Morels). Not too loud, but for a small office it works well. It has a remote and is pretty clean. I hate cluttered offices! And, now that the whole set is $300, I may buy one for at home...
I wish that the iPhone were integrated however. It always asks to place the phone in flight mode.

@YpoCaramel - thanks, this is what I was looking for. I love the design, but pink... no way.
I'd actually be happy with the sound of cheap no-name speakers - they have improved a lot over the years. Unfortunately they all, without exception, look like crap. Hurrah for scandinavian design.
The dock comes in white and black so if you want a matching set you are limited to white, black and, now, pink.

retro = super cool

Or I could get a Klipsh Promedia 2.1 for $90 and take the other $210 and put it in my savings account.
Or I could go to Walmart and buy an Altect Lansind 2.1 for $25 and put the other $275 in my savings account.
A $1 bottle of spray paint will make it whatever color I want.
FEED THE PIG !

Or just get the universal dock + 100$ 5.1 Logitech speakers? You save about 150$ that way I think?
Or just make it a different pink, and Engadget Mobile or T-Mobile can sue them?
Nicholas @ Dec 9th 2008 2:28PM
Yes, but I wanted an iPod/iPhone amp to drive a couple of nice speakers — more expensive than the system you talk about... The dock fit my needs. Yours may be different!
Tommy @ Dec 9th 2008 9:45AM
And maybe use the bottom part of a Senseo to hold the iPod ;-)
Wes @ Dec 9th 2008 9:47AM
Class T?
I thought Tripath went out of business.
Reason @ Dec 9th 2008 9:56AM
Looks like they got some inspirations from KRK speakers... I would much rather buy a set of RP5's(which I already own) than this for the same price..
nikster @ Dec 9th 2008 8:16PM
Given that these were designed in 1990, I wonder who got the inspiration from whom...
Hector M. @ Dec 9th 2008 10:09AM
Well if they were going for breast cancer awareness they probably would have gone with the red tweeters.
JWC @ Dec 9th 2008 12:50PM
Thanks engadget, I've become more gay by just looking at those things.
ini5o @ Dec 9th 2008 1:38PM
All it needs is a rectangular-horizontal subwoofer and you've got a speaker system that looks like a face. Creepy.
