Update: Added video of Red Bull's PlayStation Home Air Race game after the break. It's also worth noting that the US is positioning this as an "open beta" whereas the Japanese announcement seems to position this as full production launch.

It does say it will be released in Europe. Besides, it was made in London, so it definitely should be available to the UK.

Amazing, I paid for the crappy Qore Subscription hoping to get some early betas. So far the only one I got was Motorstorm and SOCOM (which I was never able to connect to), now those weasels finally send me a beta invite to Home - yesterday, only to have it be open tomorrow and this month's Qore is FREE. Way to treat your customers Sony. If it wasn't for the Blu-ray, I would gladly sell my PS3. Just a piece of junk.

I got the beta of Home the day before Thanksgiving and while it was fun for the first couple hours I tried it out, I quickly lost interest in walking around a mall, bowling, playing arcade games (demos of psn store content), and pool. The most enjoyable part was walking up to random people and right in front of them. I'm sure Sony will make great improvements in the future, but Home is not for me.
Face feature customization is cool.
I don't like the way random little kids in your general vicinity can start screeching obnoxiously. At times it can be difficult to pinpoint who to mute.
Anyword on what's Xbox to do about this? We already got the new avatars, now we want to do something with them, and this certainly makes me want to sell all my Xbox games, and get rid of the monthly subscription and finally make the sacrifice ($$$) and buy the PS3
I personally haven't seen that many 360 owners wanting "something to do" with their avatars. MS will be adding some public game/trivia events (1 vs 100 for starters) that will probably make use of the avatars but I don't think many 360 users are exactly dying for a virtual playground to run around aimlessly in.

I bypass the avatar creation. So instead of the dorky avatar, there is a black outline where the avatar should be.

I don't think many Xbox 360 users care a whole lot about Avatars right now. Ya 1 Vs. 100 and other Prime time gaming with real prizes and whatnot would be cool, especially seeing so many different ones on screen at once, it's still early yet, so there's not a lot of use for them. As for Paying for Xbox LIVE, only if you want to be a Gold User, and if you can't afford just under $3 a month for LIVE access, maybe you shouldn't be gaming. That's right, Buy a LIVE 12+1 month subscription card from newegg.com for under $39 with free shipping. Works out to under $3 a month. That also works out to around 10 cents a day you cheap a**. Poor baby has to pay 10 cents a day to use LIVE. It's th cheapest Subscription you'd be paying to anyone in your life. Get over it already.
As for HOME, it doesn't get me wanting to buy a PS3 any more now then before. I could care less about it. To me it looks dumb and a complete waste of time. Time better spent doing more important things, like I don't know, PLAYING GAMES!!! Maybe WATCHING A MOVIE, be it DVD, Blu-Ray, Netflix, whatever. I just don't get it. If other people like it, great, I just think it would get old pretty quick.
I think Sony should have just continued working on it and had it ready for a PS4 release on Launch Day.
I am in beta but I dont see anything interesting there, yet.
All the areas may not be live yet.

[digitallysick/haters] Not knocking the hate. Everyone is definitely entitled to theirs. I think people are looking at this from the wrong perspective. It's a lobby. Online multiplayer games have been doing it for ages. Some have even attempted sprucing things up a little, to make things a little more intereactive/personal/interesting, though not very well. As well, people have been trying to come up with a viable 3D OS front end for PCs for a long time, too. Things like walking into your "office", opening the file cabinet, and seeing all your Word docs hanging there, able to choose one and work on it. In some of the pics, I'd guess you can play those classic arcade cabinets you see in people's lofts. And, I have no idea, but it would be cool if a person sitting on a couch reading was actually reading PS Store updates or something. Certainly wouldn't be difficult to pull off. You go into a game and run around as an avatar as it is, after you've gotten there through the PS3's menu system. It would seem natural to move that menu system into a 3D "physical" representation, where you interact with the commands, instead of just clicking on them. Add in the live social aspect (which I have to believe will be much more effective than emails for maintaining and interacting with PS friends), toss in some fun stuff to do while you're figuring out what game to play and it could really be an awesome thing. Not sure if everyone is familiar with the game "scenes" or "zones" or whatever they're calling them (sections that are themed after the the worlds of specific games - like the Drakes Fortune bar), but the second I find one for Pain, where I can sit and laugh till I pass out with other Pain players, I'm buying PS Home pompoms.
U fools... Resistance 2 is an amazing game! i would say competing with if not better than Halo, obviously for cooperative players it is 1000x better... as far as girls on the ps3... who the hell looks for girls on a console anyways... consoles will be generating hot women before hot women use a console.

I have absolutely no interest in home so I would like to know if it is a mandatory install like a new firmware or can I keep using my current dashboard and still be able to update to the newest firmware? Thanks
I believe it will be an optional download. Just a day or two ago, Sony said they have no plans to get rid of the XMB interface.

When they add more arcade games and more bowling lanes Home will be pretty sweet. The pool game is actually very good. Bowling is OK, not great. The movie theater actually works well, but everything is a little sparse.
You also really need a headset or keyboard. I haven't really taken the time to have any meaningful conversations in the beta, just kind of walked around and played a few games. I also made sure to get all of my free stuff including the really cool house, instead of just the lame studio.
My problem with home will be all the pay to play features. If they use trophies or gameplay credits for a few things that would make me happy. I will never spend real money on a pair of virtual shoes though. I also won't pay money to play galaga or pacman.

I can never figure out why take a 2D interface that takes a few seconds to navigate and do something and actually make it a 'chore' by making it 3D and increasing the time it takes to do what you want?
So instead of clicking on a single line of text to get what you want in 3 seconds, you can log in with an avatar, leave your house, go to the office, open the filing cabinet and pull out the file you want - its awesome!!
Everyone should know because the PS3 is free to play online this is their chance to collect some free money from all the people who will buy pointless stuff to make there online house look cool...
It's just there way to collect money unlike how Microsoft does it where you just pay a set amount. I guess the plus is for the PS3 you don't HAVE to pay to play online!
