According to two reports, Sony Ericsson and HTC are both semi-confirming Android handsets for 2009. An SE spokesman by the name of Garfield Brusewitz was quoted as saying that the company would introduce higher-end models of the Google-powered devices to start with, then supplement those handsets with cheaper versions aimed at a broader market. In another article, HTC says that it will launch one "or more" Android phones in the new year, aiming to have them on shelves by Summer. This hardly comes as a surprise from either of these companies, as HTC has been on-board since day one of the
OHA and, you know,
already has an Android handset out, and Sony Ericsson's
announcement of participation was naturally going to lead to some actual hardware. Now it's just a matter of getting these out the door, and... sneak peaks at CES, anyone?

ehm.. how do i meet these "girls" you speak of
...do i know you?
that's what they said
jealous much, liv?
It would be cool if I could run android on my easy-bake-oven.
Meaning - pick the phone, add the OS, and thats it. Its a comin'. Its a comin'. It came.
Right in time for my new contract phone, can't wait. The Android market place should be a virtual PC style bonanza of competeing software by then, different media players, skins etc.
negative. just not good for you, tarzan
Can't wait for the glowing reveiws this is going to get here on Engadget when it comes out. :)
People really aren't counting on winmo 7 being any good are they?
well, they have a track record of not being very exciting to the average consumer. Their offerings from 5 to 6 were small, and it sounds like they aren't doing a lot for 6.5 either. I hope 7 proves me wrong though. Plus, it would kind of make sense that they would build it with multi touch support and make it more attractive and user friendly to the consumer, as it seems they are doing so with Windows 7. Maybe they're taking a hint from Apple and themselves from the feedback from the Surface. Who knows!
Sure "some people" are counting on it ^^
You know "some people" even thought that the American estate was gonna rise forever back in July 2007...
throw a capacitive touch screen, trackball, and 3.5 mm headphone jack into that X1 running Android and you can count me in.
I hope we see more Tegra at CES. Tegra + Android .... Mmmmmmmmmm......
you're wallet sure wouldn't be going "Mmmm"...
"Why not?"
It checks grammar?
i'd like to see android on a flip phone. i dont need a goddamn brick in my pocket
I can't wait to see what HTC comes up with. While they technically made the G1, I don't think they had a whole lot of input on the design. Something that they come up with totally on their own as regular Android licensees will probably be a lot more compelling.
wow so I guess with all these companies coming together they should be able to design n release the "iPhone-killer".,.wonder what year that will ever happen.
Hopefully this will increase the diversity of apps for Android, and I seriously hope they come up with platforms that're more attractive than the G1.
I'm thinking more along the lines of a Touch Pro HD or similar.
Here's hoping!
And what about the cost....? HTP phones with Anroid would be reasonable but if Xperia X1 would get Android, then it would be the most expensive Android phone out there.....
And besides, the 9 desktops software will not run on Android as its a Windows Mobile application, which is considered as one of the most attractive features of the X1.
I'd like to 'announce' that some people will put the OS they want on their phones regardless of what decisions they make.
damnit i live in new zealand and i'm still waiting for the G1 to come out commercially, i'd hate to think how long those phones will take to come out.
and that is why i should use scroll. but still, F U Marcus!
So if HTC is building Sony Ericcsons' smart phones and they are going to use google's software than what exatly is Sony Ericcson doing? Just putting their name on the box?
