Large Hadron Collider damaged and we have the photos to prove it

Is it possible that shoddy workmanship has once again saved the planet from an untimely demise? Not really, but this next tale should give our paranoiac readers plenty to mull over regardless. CERN has recently released pics of damage wrought when an electrical fault caused a liquid helium leak a mere nine days after the Large Hadron Collider started smashing atoms in September, wrecking interconnects between the magnets in sectors three and four. According to CNET, the doomsday machine will be out of commission until at least summer of 2009. So breathe a sigh of relief, little ones... and pray that the grey goo or the replicant hordes don't get us in the meantime. Hit the read link for all the pics.

I really hate it when writes use terms like "summer of 2009" this is a website read by people around the world that have summer at different times.
Reading this blog you should know the summer 2009 Engadget would be referring to.
June 2009, (Northern Hemisphere).
Actually, it's correct in both hemispheres. Due to the high energies involved, the LHC will actually travel through time to appear to run in the Southern Hemisphere's summer during it's run in the Northern Hemispheres.
How much costly was this EPIC FAIL?.
a couple of billion of euros?.
Probably cheaper than bailing out GM
I really wanted to see the higgs particle now we must all wait another year :(
well since the lhc didnt get us the new north american union will someone or should i say all of us need to stop the corporate elite dupont, chase, rockefellar, wahlberg thats right in less than 2 years you will not have any rights do you know what habeas corpus it a right you dont have any more if you dont know what it means look it up fool and were also in marsall law status so watch your back
Overhead capacitors to one oh five percent. Uh, it's probably not a problem, probably, but I'm showing a small discrepancy in... well, no, it's well within acceptable bounds again. Sustaining sequence.
Standard procedure for a non standard specimen.
Go ahead Gordon, schlop the carrier into the analysis port.
You know they have their own site, no need for the awful cnet site to be linked to, thanks.
And now a trip in the time machine...
Engadget, LHC edition, December 11, 2012
Finally, after seeingly infinte delays, cost overruns, terrorist attacks, derranged hackers, protestors and even an alien or too, the LHC is set to smash its first particle tomorrow. Petit Syrah, the newly elected head of the LHC project stated optimistically, "There will be no more delays. We will proceed on schedule."
Let's hope so, I do not think the EU can afford anymore riots over the 3 trillion euro (and counting) boondogle...
On the second page of that newspaper you can read about all the spinoffs and companies that are the result of this investment in the future.
There's also an ad there for a museum showing cars from a bygone era from such extinct brands as GM, Ford and Chrysler. The museum is sponsored by Mercedes and Large Hadron Industries of Geneva.
Ah, you failed to address the point and threw up a strawman in the same response,
Well played, sir. Well played.
"...nine days after the Large Hadron Collider started smashing atoms in September"
Yeah...that needs to be corrected, bad info. Atoms have not yet been smashed together...the only testing that was completed was shooting a particle in one direction...
I suggest we all our crowbars ready.
i believe science will win out & bring us to a brighter new beginings / we need them on a prison plant
