Cox to bestow new HD channels upon Northern Virginia
Aw, c'mon NoVa -- you should know that Cox Communications wouldn't leave you hangin'. After blessing the Hampton Roads area with 13 new HD channels a week ago, the carrier is now slated to bring quite a helping to residents of Northern Virginia. Starting tomorrow, locals should receive Hallmark Movie Channel HD (743), Planet Green HD (749), Weather Channel HD (752), AMC HD (753), WGN HD (754), FOX News HD (756), SPEED HD (757) and FX HD (758). Better still, another wave should be coming between now and February, and on it will ride FOX Business HD (755), Cartoon Network HD (759), WE HD (760), IFC HD (761), Comedy HD (762) and BET HD (763). Our tipster Ryan says the information came straight from the channel guide on 742, so you know it's the real deal.[Thanks, Ryan]

Would someone tell Comcast that people actually watch Fox News here in Washington, D.C. and that it'd be nice to have it next to CNN HD on the guide? They don't seem to be in any rush for a major market... Perhaps they don't like Fox's politics....
Maybe it's coincidental that the District voted 93% in favor of Obama...
Fox News sucks, nobody needs to see Bill O'Reilly in HD anyway...
I live in NoVA and have Cox, with all these new HD channels I wish they'd get new HD/DVRs with multi-room service and 5x hard drive space. Either that or better cablecard support. I still want FIOS!!
You admit to watching Fox News? o m g ...
How come only Northern Virginia? They must be feeling the competition from FIOS. Otherwise they probably wouldn't have added the channels.
@ Darren and Jason:
Darren: did you guys take note that Cox Fairfax is now distributing the Cisco SDV Tuning Adapter to Tivo users in the Fairfax market? Check out the threat at TivoCommunity.
Jason: If you want "better cablecard support," I assume you are referring to the fact that new HD channels are not available to CableCard users, like Tivo S3 users?
If that's the case, then be comforted by what I just told Darren! Call Cox and get your Tuning Adapter! I got mine installed on Saturday and it is sweet, sweet HD bliss. Looking forward to these new channels, too!

Of course, given that I live in DC, there's 93% chance that I'm an
Obama person, but you disregarded that as a possibility.
Let me give you an example of the assumption that you've made about
my politics:
You go into a convenience store in a slum part of town, and see that
they're out of milk, juice, and other healthy beverages, and that
they only have beer/wine, etc.... There are two assumptions that you
can make:
1) People around here only drink beer and wine... or
2) There's been a run on milk and juice...
You've made assumption 1 on me.
I watch Fox News to laugh at it.... and it's a pain in the @ss to
keep going from channel 37 to channel 234. I'm already paying enough
for Comcast here in DC... what's wrong with getting another HD
channel that's available in the surrounding areas?
Hooray! Keep the new channels coming, Cox!
They can keep adding ALL of the cable HD channels, doesn't matter because most are just a 16x9 picture with 4x3 programming. If Cox really wants to do something, they need to add the HD channels of HBO, CMax, Sho and Starz. Channels with REAL HD programming.
