AT&T rolls out BlackBerry Curve 8320 at long last
We heard a good while back that the WiFi-loving BlackBerry Curve 8320 would be making its way to AT&T, and here it is. The stunningly conservative Sapphire Blue shade might draw you in if the WiFi enhancement wasn't enough to convince you to upgrade from your 8300. Of course, this is all a bit less enticing now that options like the Bold (and the likely arrival of the 8900) exist, but hey -- better late than never, right? It's going for $149.99 with a two-year contract and a mail-in rebate, or $399.99 if you're just dying to pay full retail and have stacks and stacks of cash lying around.

The Bold is the EXACT same price with a contract. AT&T makes no sense.
...also, I bought one on eBay last week, brand new, unlocked, for the same price. No contract.
AT&T are so backward they must think they're pioneers.
....damnit. I just ordered an unlocked one on ebay for 300. Damn you ATT and your lateness to the party.
UM... I don't get it... Why sell the 8320, if the 8900 is coming within a month?
and.. where's the curve 8900?... cmon... its out in Canada.. there's no reason to release a new curve when the curve8900 is... or should be close to release..
That's because Canada is the home of Blackberry =P
Ewww...
or upgrade from your 8310.
This is so 2007'sh. No internal gps? no 3g? Last years model? Although the 8900 doesn't have 3g, at least it has everything else! (wifi, gps, new OS and browser etc.)
Laura June asks "but hey -- better late than never, right?" Thank you for deftly disproving that old axiom.
The 8900 is obviously not coming to AT&T first is my read on this. Doubt they'd release a 83x0 model close to a 8900 launch, speculated to be January '09. Boy Genius thinks 8900 CDMA is coming first...
My understanding was that Boy Genius is speculating that ATT will get this first and then T-Mobile in January 09. Where are you getting the CDMA info?
But I agree that it makes no sense to release this now if the 8900 is forthcoming within a month.
i could be wrong, but i believe the CDMA version will be a little behind the GSM (and probably go by a different model number), and the 8900 is scheduled to hit t-mobile first in the states, followed by at&t at an undisclosed later time.
Why can't they have wifi AND GPS in a curve (besides the new one, which still fails as it should have 3g too)?
They do have wifi and gps in a curve. Nextel just released one. 8350i I think.
ATT likes GPS. They don't like WIFI, because it represents a "way out" of ATT. There is, however, a demand for WIFI devices. So they either make them expensive (Bold, 8820) or they subtract a key feature like GPS. If you really really want WIFI, then you can have it. And if you want both WIFI and GPS, you can have it too, just not at the same price as WIFI-only or GPS-only.
Other cellular providers are forever trying to poach customers from ATT, so it makes sense they would offer both WIFI and GPS at good prices. But you might not like their coverage, etc. Everyone is trying to buttonhole their customers.
@Kirk, i'm not talking about iDen, i'm talking about GSM Curves.
@Jake, ATT has nothing to do with it, its all BB's lameness, same goes for the new 8900's lack of UMTS/HSPA.
sindsygt men ja ja den er jo ikke så fed som 8900 som kommer snart så kan det jo være lige meget ffs
these phones seriously blow,I feel sorry for blackberry owners including storm.even wifi won't save this ,antiquated,.

the 8320’s were boxed and shipped to Att corporate about 2 to 3 months ago, the phone’s were already paid for. I don’t deal with att directly but im guessing they don’t want to burn potential cash flow so they’re releasing what units they already bought. I can tell you this, that we’re not making anymore 8320’s for them so they’re probably just going to exhaust existing units they already paid for. The 8900 is ready to go awaiting final confirmation by their corporate office, the last ETA i saw was december 22, however that could change until they sell these 8320’s off first. This is something unexpected

Im still going to standy by an imminent release of 8900 for ATT, still maybe by the ETA mark that they originally gave us. If AT&T is only selling the 8320 online then that only confirms my information that they’re exhausting supplies, if they launch in retail store then they might be considering delaying the launch of the 8900 by asking us for more 8320 units, however im still optimistic about the 22nd.
and yet another blackberry. I dont know about you guys but dotn you get tired of the same stuff that comes all the time. Like yea we see a new laptop, a new blackberry, i dont know, it takes alot to wow me now days cuz it has to go beyond then any other phone, like the new N97 is cool, and the 5800, but then again im a huge nokia fan. so maybe it all depends on what your into.
First off the 8900 isnt coming to verison because the 8900 doesnt have 3G and Second another model of the 8900 series is coming to verison with 3G.
