Pusta @ Dec 18th 2008 4:20PM
I'm guessing Marketing left that off the product info....
Skorpius @ Dec 18th 2008 9:28PM
That's what REAL microphones look like.

Someone at Engadget needs to read a tutorial about resizing images.
Chase @ Dec 18th 2008 4:00PM
Also, if this is a compact design, then what do you call the camera built into my Macbook?
jhracer3 @ Dec 18th 2008 5:19PM
(1) Not a camera.
(2) Your macbook is not professional quaility anything.
(3) This is a condenser mic = microphone goodness.
Steve @ Dec 18th 2008 4:09PM
How about some audio samples so we can really determine how much it sucks?
KR @ Dec 18th 2008 4:09PM
Or, for just a couple bucks more, you can get the Snowflake mic from Blue and have a mic that's worth using (and looking at)
Davin Black @ Dec 18th 2008 11:21PM
I'm sorry - why would you care what a microphone looks like ? I'm not trying to be a jackass, but that's probably one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. As long as it doesn't have unnecessary decoration (like, say, a casing/covering that looks like Spongebob Squarepants) or a blatantly childlike color scheme, who cares about how it looks?
Jon @ Dec 18th 2008 4:10PM
You want your recording to sound good don't you? I love the design!
bangladeshiluv @ Dec 18th 2008 4:12PM
i got a plug & play mic for $3. just plug it into your mic jack.
DiRT @ Jan 7th 2009 10:17AM
And it sounds like ass. It's not a condenser mic. You fail.
Evan @ Dec 18th 2008 4:16PM
I wana talk to Sampson!
Ian @ Dec 18th 2008 6:35PM
fly me to the moon, cuz its hard being black
Johnny @ Dec 18th 2008 4:31PM
nice
Micha @ Dec 18th 2008 6:27PM
A condenser mic is VERY different then the $3 3.5mm you'd normally plug into the sound card.
This is actually an affordable, portable (consider it's capabilities) solution for anyone that's into digital broadcasting.
Loonie @ Dec 18th 2008 7:01PM
Based on the performance of their Zoom audio recorders, I'd be prepared to second the likelihood that this isn't just a cheapo clip-on mic.
Orappa @ Dec 18th 2008 7:18PM
Excatly..

aside from picking up clicks, hard drive sounds, and the built in fan, the built in mic on most macs ive owned has been pretty decent for what it is (and i record music so i know whats what with mics)
i even took one out of a dead powerbook
Jason @ Dec 18th 2008 7:22PM
Well if you can happily set all that aside, then I'm sure your recordings are A+ number one suck.
Davin Black @ Dec 18th 2008 11:23PM
@Bucky:...you can't have just said all that and think the built-in mic is still legit.
mustafa @ Dec 18th 2008 10:23PM
as the proud owner of a Samson CO1U, I look forward to this upgrade
superhobo @ Dec 19th 2008 4:10AM
It really should have a camera built in...
Alex Smith @ Dec 19th 2008 12:13PM
I'd rather have a MicPort Pro USB mic preamp so that I can use ANY microphone with my laptop AND have the ability to monitor myself as I record as well as playback material (without latency). Check it out here: http://centrance.com/products/mp/

Stop spamming all the mic threads.
