TRENDnet rolls out 7-inch digital photo frame / camera monitor

Well, it looks like the ol' softies and TRENDnet have finally found a way to liven up the family photo slideshow a bit: 'round the clock security camera footage! To make that possible, the company's new 7-inch TV-M7 photo frame connects to your home network and is able to detect any wireless TRENDnet security cameras also connected to the network, which can be displayed on their own or four at a time on the screen. Otherwise, the device looks to be a fairly standard photo frame, with it packing 512MB of built-in storage and a memory card slot for further expansion, along with a remote control, a built-in speaker, and all the usual media playback functionality. As you might expect, however, you won't get this one for the price of your usual 7-inch photo frame, with it running a somewhat hefty $262.99.

pretty awesome, if you don't have some other form of media to show your photos on. or if you work in an office cubicle.

This is pretty cool. I understand some people like the big bezels, but it would be kick butt if you made one with a smaller bezel to line up the panels edge to edge.

That's pretty cool, but here's a similarly designed (but without the web cam streaming) 8" Frame on sale for $60. http://www.techdealdigger.com/deals/winbook-8-inch-digital-picture-frame-59-at-micro-center/5803
I use Orb to stream my web cam to a remote laptop.

what would really be cool (and what I thought it did by the headline) would be if it had a camera built in and you could see whose in your living room looking at your photoframe
SloMoe @ Dec 19th 2008 3:43PM
Yea but you can have the monitor anywhere in the house without a bulky computer attached to it...
1234321 @ Dec 19th 2008 4:06PM
well at least it doesn't have the ugly double frame like most digital photo frames
Hannes @ Dec 20th 2008 2:40AM
Yeah, I also think that the design is pretty good.

Why would you compare this to a LCD monitor...This views IP cameras without a computer attached to it...and works with wired or wireless IP cameras on your network...people dont read anymore...jeesh

Hm, 800 x 480. Well, at 7" that might still look ok. The camera display function is a neat idea but it doesn't make up for the frame being uglyfied by that hole and the logo, not to speak of the price.
