ASUS offers up branded keyboard / mouse combo, remote for Eee Box
If your Eee Box experience is lacking something that you can't quite put your finger on, we're 85.32% sure we know what'll fill that void. According to Eee PC News, ASUS is gearing up to ship an Eee-branded wireless keyboard / mouse combo in both black and white motifs, and if that's still not enough Eee to cure your fever, the multi-function remote should handle those media center duties with ease. There's no mention of a price or release date, so we suppose you should assume these are completely fictional until proven otherwise.

ASUS = Apple copiers right????
I've read somewhere a while ago that ASUS won a contract from Apple to make the Macbooks.
That keyboard style was first used by Sony...
This style may have been introduced by Sony, but did you see any other brands 'copying' it until Apple keyboards turned to the split-key theme?
Apple dictates the trends, which semi-stylish brands like Asus facsimile - and fail to individualise them.
Apple might be most famous for looks, but I think Sony has quite a few hits that they don't get enough credit for, VAIOs aren't just the average good looking laptop, some models are better than Dell's XPS I'd say
Uh?
Sony's keyboard WAS being copied BY APPLE. Even to this day, still few manufacturers use chiclet keys. At the moment the only ones I can think of are the three brought up here.
those are rather pretty
I have the white remote control. it came with my origenae htpc case. The difference between this one and the one I have is mines have the media center logo and this one does not.

I got the s16v straight from korea, what case did you get?
I purchased the s14v. I wanted the one you got, but it was sold out and the wait time around that time was something like 4-5 months if I remember correctly.
Over all best HTPC case out there. My next build will be based on the s16v I want to build a gaming htpc rig.
I've got one like that but silver and with a DELL logo on it, it came with my inspiron 530.
Would these work with a PS3? Would make a nice addition.
@SOOPERGOOMAN
i doubt it'll work with the PS3, it works with the 360 fine though (even the media centre button). i guess remotes like this are replacing that old microsoft one.
mine has dell on it too - who actually makes these? i heard at one stage it was philips, but id expect there name on it if it was.
Seconded.
I also like them. Lets hope they don't cost too much.
Go ASUS! You milk that brand!
By releasing a completely unnecessary keyboard and mouse! Oh wait, people actually kinda use those.
i love the keyboard and would certainly get me one of those
i personally think those shift keys would be a pain
appears to be maybe one or two centimeters smaller...shouldnt be noticeable
yes, i know thats what she said
i wonder if this is gonna be bluetooth or not, if so, they might have a buy from me, i like this. that remote should work on an pc right as long as you have the IR receiver
inb4 and after "zomg apple keys"
Which makes you're post worse than all the apple posts. It's pointless. They only do it to be trolls.
more junk....
ah, american capitalism, how we love you! as your manufacturers sell us a good product and then try to sell us thousands of junk along with it. ah, america!
Asus - A multinational company based in Taipei (Thats in Taiwan as it appears you are quite stupid).
Even laptops have numpads. What's up asus?
there's like thousands of different keyboard designs out there without a numpad. do your homework and stop whining.
many people would prefer keyboards like these that are compact and convenient.
the numpads can sometimes be useless for certain users.
if you do need numpads then you could just skip this post and keep quiet
You know there are countries that don't use the qwerty layout and have to hold shift every time they want to insert a number. How about you stfu and stop thinking you're alone on this planet.
If you do not like my reply then you should just skip this post and keep quiet.
fact, not every laptop has numpads and there are people who don't like big and bulky keyboards
so you think everybody on this planet must have the same taste as yours?
these are designed for people who need them
why whine and swear like a loser if you don't need those
Uh...nothing... .what's up your ASUS? =P
Can I have an eee dock please asus?
numpads are the most useless thing i've ever seen. One of the first things I bought for my PC was a keyboard without a numpad.
I don't type in a lot of figures, so it's almost useless to me.
And if you want one, you can always get those numpads for laptops who lack them
I say ditching the numpad is a very smart design decision, so the keyboard can have the same minimalistic design that the box has.

I'm with you. I can't stand having a nearly two foot wide brick on my desk or in my lap just so I can do faster number entry that I never do at home. At work, it's different; I'd be lost without my number pad as most of my computer work there involves numeric data entry. But on an entertainment PC at home, it's beyond superfluous.
Somewhat off-topic, but I got one of those remotes (with a Media Centre button on it) with my Dell. Is there a utility or software that can let me reprogram the remote to work with other applications? I really don't use Media Centre and would rather it opened iTunes. :)
So they create a slightly undersized mouse and keyboard but a huge remote. What's all that about? I personally find the Apple remote just as useful as any windows remote so it would have been nice to see something like that for the EeeBox. Anyway nice to see ASUS following through with a somewhat unorthodox idea.
That's a cut down version of the Philips SRM 5100 remote. I bought one about 6 months ago... Guess it'd cost to much too make a their own!

The keyboard actually looks nice. I'd like to have one of those.
You've gotta be kidding me, right? An Eee remote keyboard of the same size as the actual one on the netbook?
It is not as simple to use as the Apple wireless aluminum keyboard, mighty mouse, and Apple remote combo
What, no TrackPoint?
Know what I just realized? I still haven't programmed my Media Center remote to turn on my TV and I've had the TV for a month now.
The remote is over two years old. We took a photo of it, at Neowin, back in 2006:

Apparently this keyboard is not the US version, since the enter key extends across two rows instead of the usual one (here in the US).
Does the eeePC actually function as a media center extender??? If so how? I've been looking for a solution to run an extender on my g/f's TV upstairs. Right now I have a full-blown Vista32 MC install on a pc under the TV, its ugly & loud. I'd love to piggy back one of these on the back of the TV out of the way if it actually ran the vista/winXP MCE extender software from my main HTPC box. Drive mapping & sharing ATM are a PITA. Why the heck Microsoft allows 3rd parties to build MC extenders into standalone hardware, but not allow actual windows users to run an Extender on another windows box is beyond me.
