NVIDIA reportedly urging customers to buy new problem-free GPUs
NVIDIA has yet to step in and confirm this publicly, but a purported leaked memo from the outfit has been posted over at VR-Zone. What's it say, you ask? Only that the company "strongly recommends that customers transition to the latest revision of the NB8E-SET GPUs as soon as possible." Said revision taps a new Hitachi underfill packaging material that "improves product quality and enhances operating life by improved thermal cycling reliability." If you'll recall, certain PC vendors such as Dell issued their own firmware updates to combat the weak packaging set in the chip maker's faulty GPUs earlier this year, but it appears that NVIDIA's solution is to just let bygones be bygones and get on with the new and improved.

Intel X3100 FTW!
HELP, i have a macbook pro with a broken GPU yeah i can get it repaired for free.
HOW DO I KNOW IF THE MOBILE NVIDIA GPU IS A NEW ONE?
Because they will get serious beatings if they give me a new flawed one.
My M1330 just died, luckely I was able to sell it for $550 on ebay (yes, I wrote in red letters that it is defect). NEVER EVER nVIDIA or DELL (shitty customer support).
I urge you to freely exchange your defective equipment with the advertised and paid for product.
I had a refurbished laptop of unknown manufacturer (there's honestly no way of seeing what make it is) as part of my insurance on my last Rock laptop. This one has a 8600m gs and runs perfectly well, and like ishism above, the recent slew of nVidia drivers has made gaming that much more enjoyable.
I'm not an nVidia fanboy in anyway, my Rock laptop had a wonderful ATI gpu that worked perfectly well. But people need to hear both sides of this argument. Though I am quite sickened at this situation.
"Thanks for buying an Nvidia card.
Oh by the way, this one is broken due to us being cheap. Can you purchase another one? Please?"
Hey Nvidia, it's YOUR fault if the hardware screwed up, it's not up to me to cover for your mistakes. Do you really think consumers will purchase another card in such a small timelapse in a recession? Screw you.
Nivida has lost all credibility, I say "go to hell and Die!"
Are they serious? I have a 1720 with a 8600m, and I'm really worried it might eventually crap out on me (probably on year +1 day of my dell warranty). Thing is, for some reason Dell havent' referenced my 1720 with any of their driver fixes or user warnings. Why the hell not!? Its the same chipset Nvidia flagged for gods sake!
Anyway, I think what they've said is the worst kind of shitty customer support. Its broken, buy a new one? How about fix it for me you douchebags!
