LG's magical GD910 wrist phone packs touchscreen, camera and rainbows
It was deliciously inevitable that a watch phone would eventually show up that could actually "pack it all in," and it looks like LG has actually accomplished that feat in its LG-GD910 model. Of note, the phone packs a touchscreen LCD, 3G data, and a built-in camera for videoconferencing and being a general badass. Sure, browsing to your favorite gadget blog might be a tad bit difficult on that 1.43-inch screen, and there's always the question of fashion, but those are minor quibbles -- the real question is where can we get one, and for how much. LG should be showing this off at CES next month (it showed off a predecessor this January), and plans to release it in Japan and Europe, but we've got a couple of cereal box-delivered 2-way wrist radios crossed behind our backs in hopes for a US berth.

Holy Dick Tracy, Batman!!!!
The future is here! The ultimate gadget.
Sadly, I want one, but I know I won't be able to afford the SMS fees.
D.S (Apple) = digtal shit @ Dec 29th 2008 9:55AM
That is awsome finaly a watch that has every thing and you can wear outside. I am buying one.
Xavier @ Dec 29th 2008 10:05AM
Says here at Electronista:
The device also offers text-to-speech (TTS) capabilities, Bluetooth, MP3 playback and voice dialing with speech recognition. The company claims download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps when using HSDPA.
Yea~ And it comes with 3 chargers: 1 for home, 1 for work and 1 for your car.
OneLove @ Dec 29th 2008 11:35AM
Oh, pick me! pick me!
I would love one of these so i can videoconferencing with hot korean tech models. AH....shi par!
Tarnation @ Dec 29th 2008 12:43PM
This is so much cooler than the calculator watch.
patriotsn1 @ Dec 29th 2008 9:55AM
Question of fashion? I think these looks pretty damn good!
RioRyan @ Dec 29th 2008 12:04PM
I agree, these are probably the best looking watch phones so far. Especially compared to the micro-keypad ones!
Sorry, had to throw it in! - http://www.mobilewhack.com/reviews/20030811_f88_02.jpg
Nick @ Dec 29th 2008 1:55PM
Yeah, you'll definately look damn good too when you try to make a phone call with this thing.. I mean, everyone puts their watch in their ears these days..
DarkLight @ Dec 29th 2008 7:44PM
@Nick: Yeah, because Bluetooth headsets do not exist, and this wrist phone does not have Bluetooth.
Erb @ Dec 29th 2008 9:57AM
Sad to say it, but the time of the watch has died.
I can't see this selling.
fred @ Dec 29th 2008 10:06AM
If this thing had bluetooth, and voice recognition, I would seriously buy this the moment it's available.
fred @ Dec 29th 2008 10:08AM
Oops, already answered in post #3.
I am officially saving for it right now.
Pillow @ Dec 29th 2008 10:11AM
Since when did time become irrelevant and unimportant?
AMiSH PiRATE @ Dec 29th 2008 12:52PM
@Erb
I had a student give a presentation speculating on the future of communication devices. At one point he asked with ernest, "With cell phones ever in our pockets, who seriously still wears watches?" Twelve people, myself included, raised our hands.
mabhatter @ Dec 29th 2008 12:59PM
we work in offices with clocks. We work at desks on computers with clocks. Our cars have clocks. Our TVs have clocks. Our VCRs have clocks (blinking 12:00 though) Our home phones with caller ID have clocks. Cell phones have clocks. PDAs have clocks. iPods have clocks....
We're surrounded by electronic crap with clocks... there's no need to tie one on our wrist just to tell the time anymore.
jupiterthunder @ Dec 29th 2008 3:20PM
What a stupid thing to say. Even before cellphones with clocks became the norm, there were clocks everywhere we went. Before that folks could tell the time of day by watching the sky. There has never been a real need to wear a watch, and yet people have and still do.
Flaystus @ Dec 29th 2008 9:58AM
Does it have Bluetooth? If so i'm in love!
Boarderwoot @ Dec 29th 2008 10:04AM
Whoah, check out that useless picture in picture action.
@erb, I dont know, I think people would much rather have something small and compact on their wrist over some box attatched to their hip. Give it blue teeth and complete voice activation and you'll sell a lot more of these than conventional phones.
mabhatter @ Dec 29th 2008 1:00PM
I'm holding out for one I can pin to my shirt... the next generation if you will.
Down @ Dec 29th 2008 10:05AM
Newsflash: A man has just become half deaf because he wrist'ed himself in the ear with a watch.
Unknown @ Dec 29th 2008 10:05AM
I was going to make a Dick Tracy comment as well, but Cargo Jack beat me to it. So here is the real question. When am I gonna get my teleporter damnit!
bigcow05 @ Dec 29th 2008 10:06AM
I'm pretty sure that if you wear this thing, a picture of a girl is all you will get.
bhtooefr @ Dec 29th 2008 10:08AM
It looks slimmer than my Abacus Wrist PDA, and that never actually prevented me from getting laid (most people don't even notice what it is unless I point it out.)
From My Cube @ Dec 29th 2008 10:57AM
@bhtooefr
it wasnt just your watch/pda they didnt notice
Inthenameofmine @ Dec 29th 2008 10:12AM
How the heck do you make a call with that thing??
jinsei888 @ Dec 29th 2008 11:00AM
what kinda question is that!?!?! You press the damn phone number keys in and press call...wtf? you fail at life
billyjoeloubob @ Dec 29th 2008 10:13AM
If I wear one on each wrist will these things deflect bullets?
Jon Nelson @ Dec 29th 2008 12:24PM
"When you're ready, you won't have to..."
FUCK that was lame. Haha. Sorry. Just the first thing that came to mind.
Grey Acumen @ Dec 29th 2008 10:18AM
Okay, okay, hold on. I've got just one question:
That is the only thing I can see possibly not being utterly amazing about this is its battery life. If the battery life on this is even halfway decent, then this will be bigger than the freaking iphone.
i mean, heck, it's even decent to look at. how many watch gadgets manage to pull of a stylish look? Plus video chat capabilities, and you can wear it on your wrist in place of a watch, and you can pair it with a bluetooth headset? What more could you possibly ask for?
Grey Acumen @ Dec 29th 2008 10:39AM
Also, does anyone else think that this would be the perfect bluetooth headset to compliment this wristphone?

billythekid @ Dec 29th 2008 10:22AM
Great. Another woman-repellent kind of gadget!
huh @ Dec 29th 2008 10:26AM
The watch form factor is impractical.. give me a torc.. then a real body integrated system.
Hackettman @ Dec 29th 2008 10:29AM
As lame as it would be talking to your wrist its kind of cool in its own way...... This also reminds me of the step before an OLED wrist watch/phone I once saw....
AnyKey @ Dec 29th 2008 10:30AM
I'll take five of 'em.
Arkenklo @ Dec 29th 2008 11:25AM
I'll take a hundred billion.
wunch @ Dec 29th 2008 1:13PM
5 of em? But you only have four limbs. Where would the 5th one . . . ewww, nevermind.
MRLN @ Dec 29th 2008 10:33AM
I question the battery life.
000000 @ Dec 29th 2008 10:35AM
Unless Batman or Mr. Tracy were to fight crime in Asia or Europe they would be able to contact commissioner Gordon or whoever Tracy calls...
Or are these quadband?
Jon Nelson @ Dec 29th 2008 12:26PM
Well, I mean, Batman DID go to China to kick some mobster ass, so it's not entirely impractical?
Sean @ Dec 29th 2008 10:44AM
What, no GPS! What good is crime fighting if you get lost on the way to the scene!
Arkenklo @ Dec 29th 2008 11:24AM
They removed it, the screen was so small that you could'nt see more than nine feet around you, everyhing else was off the screen.
The_Steven @ Dec 29th 2008 11:42AM
WANT !
Shugg @ Dec 29th 2008 12:09PM
Wow not sure what to get watch or iPhone for 99$,.decisions decisions. Is this the iphonekiller,??
JP @ Dec 29th 2008 12:28PM
This is the next step in cellphone tech ... add bluetooth and some peripheral devices (monitor-touch, handsfree) and you have a winner on your hands (someone develop a decent OS quick!!!)
jj1814 @ Dec 29th 2008 12:58PM
OMG....all my cartoon fantasies are coming true!
Obscurinata @ Dec 29th 2008 1:25PM
Once they slim these down, get them running Android, and have Bluetooth (maybe they already do with this, dunno), I'll want one. It looks a bit too chunky currently and the OS is probably pretty basic, but there's potential in this kinda design.
ssk @ Dec 29th 2008 1:46PM
omg its kim tae hee in the pic!! that just made my day
Wwhat @ Dec 29th 2008 2:29PM
That metal clip on the inside looks painful to me, what's the deal on that I wonder.
Jay @ Dec 29th 2008 7:32PM
I was thinking that aswell
npChaos @ Dec 30th 2008 3:39AM
Looks like one of those 2 way clasps, wouldn't be any more uncomfortable than the normal ones you find in watches already.
I'm more worried about the bands, for something so stylish, wouldn't leather or metal best suit the design?
