USB Wireless Keypad is perfect for number-crunching on-the-go

Brando's new USB Wireless Keypad is probably just what you're looking for, if you're looking for a wireless keypad, of course. It's got the standard keypad keys, 13 hotkeys, and a totally sweet built-in trackball. It's no Optimus Aux, or anything, but we imagine this pad will be best put to use whilst counting huge piles of coins (or any hard currency) in a public library or adding up intense columns of figures on the subway. 3,700 coppers and it's yours.

If this were bluetooth I'd probably get one, but I have no desire for another annoying dongle.
Teh Lup @ Dec 30th 2008 3:02PM
Heh, was gonna say the same thing.
Perfect would be BT or a micro dongle.
chrisaroz @ Dec 30th 2008 4:00PM
+1 for BT
va jj @ Dec 30th 2008 3:10PM
dongle dont matter much on a desktop but on a notebook it does not look pretty.
Emilio @ Dec 30th 2008 3:16PM
Actually, it does when you have a dongle for your mouse, one for your keyboard and a whole bunch of USB sticks...
Plus, this thing is really ugly... :-)
paul eastwood @ Dec 30th 2008 3:32PM
You usually don't need a standalone numpad for a desktop.
Emilio @ Dec 30th 2008 3:12PM
Kinda ugly and yet, another usb dongle...?
Absolutely right about bluetooth but I'd think twice before being seen with this thing...
dan @ Dec 30th 2008 3:12PM
Shit, did you actually think that was funny?
Will @ Dec 30th 2008 3:20PM
Did you think that was actually first?
Uncontrol @ Dec 30th 2008 3:19PM
can run crysis blend iphone ffffffffffffffffffff
Akio @ Dec 31st 2008 7:07AM
is fffffffffffff the sound of it being blended?
martin @ Dec 30th 2008 3:30PM
why are both the mouse buttons on the top right click?
Nathan @ Dec 30th 2008 3:32PM
Uhm,
where would you have put them ?
Considering the use of this thing, this is probably the best position for them...
prime @ Dec 30th 2008 3:33PM
has a track ball, maybe you hold it like a game controller to use it.
martin @ Dec 30th 2008 3:50PM
nathan i think you misunderstood me, i meant why does it appear both buttons perform a right click action. its the same icon, just spun round
Samo @ Dec 30th 2008 3:52PM
I guess Martin means, why are both the mouse click buttons, both right mouse buttons, i.e. where's the left mouse button?
I suppose if Prime is right, then the LMB could be on the button, otherwise a slap on the wrists for Brando.
...I kinda want this though.... Dunno why... Secondary mous + media buttons are good, i suppose.
Samo @ Dec 30th 2008 3:53PM
Dammit! Gotta type faster next time!
Nathan @ Dec 30th 2008 4:32PM
Martin,
I definitely did... my bad.
I would hope that Brando made a mistake in the representation of the mouse clicks because the way it's shown now, it does NOT makes sense as they indicate the same action, only the image is flipped.
And I still believe this thing is utterly ugly... :-)
Mike @ Dec 30th 2008 3:42PM
This is a great looking device for controlling playback on Pro Audio Applications such as Cubase and Sonar.
SeeScottRock @ Dec 30th 2008 4:23PM
i was thinking along the same lines, also for fine tuning pans and effect levels in Reason plus the major DAWs
AMiSH PiRATE @ Dec 30th 2008 3:43PM
3,700 coppers! I'd need some sort of wireless keypad to count that high. Oh! I can buy one here for only 3,700 coppers, but wait, I'd need some sort of...
FOREX @ Dec 30th 2008 3:43PM
As a daily excel user, thats awsome. Not a big fan of the dongle but having dedicated key pad for my laptop is great, never having to take my hand away from it to navigate, even better.
Dead_Rebel @ Dec 30th 2008 3:56PM
tool
Techie @ Dec 30th 2008 3:59PM
I don't know about you guys but as long this thing can shut up my wife than it's a good purchase.
dont shoot the baby @ Dec 31st 2008 3:22AM
uh, ok.
MattyG @ Dec 30th 2008 4:07PM
" It's got the standard keypad keys"
I'd hardly call that standard, it's got flipping space, backspace and '000' keys and not in any normal layout either
jollyllama @ Dec 30th 2008 4:09PM
This is exactly wrong. I want a *small* device, just the number keys. And make it bluetooth, most any laptop has it built it, why not use it?
I would buy a small bluetooth num-pad tomorrow if it was offered, but the closest I can find costs over $50 and still has a built in calculator display which adds bulk.
Game_playa @ Dec 30th 2008 4:10PM
Why?
pg808 @ Dec 30th 2008 4:30PM
This is unnecessary for desktop users, since they have a full keyboard already, and doesn't really make sense for travelers with their laptops, since it's something extra for them to carry (I like to travel light). So, as far as I can tell, the target market for this is people who use a laptop at home, as a desktop replacement, and don't feel like plugging in a real keyboard to their laptop.
On the other hand, I like the media buttons and the overall design of the thing. It's just not for me. Maybe if you travel and do a lot of number crunching, then the extra hassle of carrying this with you would be worth it, since laptop keyboards suck for entering numbers.
Martin, I came to post about their mouse button icon screw up, but you saw it first. The two icons should be vertical, by the way, since horizontally they can obviously be confusing. Heck, they even confused the designers!
Aztek @ Dec 30th 2008 4:54PM
Ya know, As an accountant, I like it because it limits the number of wires I have running from my USB ports.
Stephen Lang @ Dec 30th 2008 4:25PM
Sooner or later Brando is going to release one of those kooky weird peripherals that will be a tailor-made perfect fit for me. Until that day comes however, we get stuff like wireless numeric keypads...
Trial @ Dec 30th 2008 4:51PM
I saw this, and the first thing I thought was "MIDI CONTROLLER!"
frogger @ Dec 30th 2008 4:55PM
not new....

Just a tip for anyone considering purchasing this, the little trackball that Brando uses on their products is awful. I bought a Brando mini wireless keyboard that was featured here about month ago and it has the same exact trackball as the one pictured above.
Le Big Mac @ Dec 30th 2008 5:37PM
This needs 2 things:
1) Bluetooth
2) Style to match apple wireless keyboard
Patriks7 @ Dec 30th 2008 5:42PM
No, but I can run Crysis and GTA4 at the same time while I blend my iPhone together with your face, and I will also be first..
Joseph Mama @ Dec 30th 2008 5:56PM
"Brando's new USB Wireless Keypad is probably just what you're looking for,"
and Brando's advertising budget is probably what you just got paid from.
Name @ Dec 30th 2008 5:58PM
Where are the hexadecimal keypads?
Lundmark @ Dec 30th 2008 6:09PM
What's the price? In plain English this time, please.
Erki @ Dec 31st 2008 2:50AM
Why don´t they add the small LCD display and it could be cool calculator you can take it with you to the meeting for example?!
So there´s some room for developing...
djs @ Dec 31st 2008 2:32PM
I can't believe this made it on to engadget, it's just a plain boring wireless numpad with a built in mouse and it looks pretty crappy at best, they'll probably put out a revision with a built in clock radio next!
Tedium @ Dec 31st 2008 6:24PM
This isn't amazing by any means, but for me I think it will be very useful if it will control my audio playback. Being able to lay in bed across the room from my computer, and skip songs, play, stop, turn up volume, etc... would be very convenient. Definitely not a necessity, but a convenience for me in a small manner. My desktop has 8 USB ports, so I'm not hurting on those, but I do agree, bluetooth would be a nice addition to it for more portable usage as well.
neotokyo7 @ Dec 31st 2008 6:52PM
what I don't understand about this numberpad is why there is a dedicated button for three zeros.....what happened to the usual 1 zero button and then a 2 zero button?
