Jaybird releases 2009 Bluetooth Stereo Claws, earbuds, and more

Jaybird's just unleashed their products for 2009, with updates for their athlete-targeted A2DP Bluetooth Stereo Claws. The new ones (which look exactly the same as their previous models) feature apt-X audio compression, giving these puppies a high sound quality the company says will "rivaling wired" ones, plus new tips for sound isolation and a modified design to fit a wider range of ears. The company's also rolling out new metal-cased Tiger Eyes earbuds and over ear Acoustic Dens. We don't have any word on pricing for this stuff, but we'll get an up-close gander at them at CES and they should be available in April... when our Go-Go's-infused work outs should get a little more high def. Check out the other two products after the break.
Update: Just got word that the company will release all three of the above with tweaked product names, and we also got the pricing info: Freedom Wireless Headphones will run you $129.99, the Tiger Eyes Earbuds will be $99.99, and the Endorphin Earphones will also be $99.99

on their home website, i see this headphone being used with either an iphone or an itouch. i don't have either but from what i understand, both of those aren't able to use stereo bluetooth headset. am i wrong? or is the website just using the picture as a reference?

If you look through the pictures you have to plug in a bluetooth module in to the bottom to receive audio over bluetooth for the ipods.

I have the JB-200s and they work great with ipod and as stereo/headset for my phone.

I really love A2DP gear (I've got a Samsung SBH500, Nokia BH-503, and Sony DR-BT21G)...but this is complete crap:
"feature apt-X audio compression, giving these puppies a high sound quality "rivaling wired" ones"
Oy vey. When they significantly boost Bluetooth's streaming bandwidth spec, that could be entirely possible. But right now?

What is the max bitrate on A2DP? Bluetooth on it's own is 1Mbps, well above the 320Kbps on CD audio, so I am guessing A2DP compresses it somehow?
Kamokazi @ Jan 1st 2009 9:35PM
Errr limits it, not compresses....still recovering from last night....

Wow, another cool new set bluetooth headphones that won't work with the iPhone. Thanks Steve!

Actually, I have a pair, and an iphone, and all you need to do is plug in the the adapter they give you, which is pretty small....

These are great headphones! I have had the Motorola HT820s and tried the S9 but the Jaybirds are way smaller and more comfortable. I have the iPod Touch 2nd gen and I have the integrated Nike+, Nike+Amp Watch, and these earphones all seamlessly integrated.
I actually don't use the Jaybird iPod adapter which is kinda big. I already had the Sony TMR-BT8IP iPod adapter and it works fine with the Touch and the Jaybirds.
I don't know if the new models would be worth any extra money, because the 200s sound great.

I've been meaning to get the previous model but i have never seen it at much of a discount.

anyone using the JB200s with an iPhone, can you tell us whether it does that annoying thing where it plays through the iPhone speaker as well?
ak123456 @ Jan 2nd 2009 12:07PM
I've been looking them for there first version. They seems almost perfect. They only problem is that you need to carry a charger unit (igger than the headset) with you and the battery is not good enough 5.5. hours. I like what is standard and what can be reuse. I can recharge or use everything that i have with usb plug. This is why i am staying away form apple and Sony. They have a very product but mke you pay a lot for a 2$ cable just by changing the plug or cable layout.

@wes
Same question here, anyone have feedback?
Im kinda confussed... I have been debating to purchase the JB-200 or Motorola S9-HD for some time now lol The JB-200 seem to be more my style because of wearing a hat/toque and being very active. Many comments from ppl are saying the S9-HD still have issues with sweat/water causing problems, the JB-200 seem to be very good!
So in this older topic on engadget... http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/21/jaybird-reveals-jb-200-bluetooth-stereo-headset/ and this topic here, is there a upgrade being released to replace the JB-200? or just new models? I still wanna stay with Bluetooth headset and get the best stereo sound quality possible! JB-200 seem to beat the S9-HD.
