PS Audio debuting world's first HRx disc player at CES
Oh, brother -- yet another high resolution audio format to worry over. Just when you thought you could pick up Denon's forthcoming universal Blu-ray player and be done with it comes HRx. The format, which is hyped up by Reference Recordings and is literally high-res WAV files toasted onto DVD media, cannot be played back in traditional DVD / DVD-Audio decks. Instead, you'll need PS Audio's PerfectWave Transport Memory Player. Until now, folks (all three of them) have simply been ripping the files onto PCs or music servers for playback, but the item you see above will indeed handle CDs and HRx DVDs, the latter of which delivers 24-bit, 176kHz sound. There's no mention of a price or eventual release date, but something this specialized just can't be cheap. We mean, it just can't be.

While this player may play the Best Sounding Music EVER, Most people don't care!!!! If they did, SACD and DVD Audio would be a whole hell of a lot more Popular, that and the fact you can't RIP the tracks off the disc. Where's the market for a even better yet Music format?!?!?! If people wanted better sounding music, why did most people move the complete opposite direction to MP3's and whatnot? A lower sound quality then that of CD's.
If they want to release it. Great. It looks like it'll cost around $2999.99, Which is fine anyway as the only people that would really want it are those with money to throw away on this stuff. I'm just wondering if there's a large enough market for it to just not fail in a short time. Is there's going to be enough Music release on in this format?!?!
The Majority of people that tune into music are in Environments where this would be pointless to have. Car, Jogging, at work, etc. Sure some people have time to lay back in a quite room with a nice Stereo setup with this player and relax and just listen to the better sounding Music. Hell I was happy back in the 80's with my first CD player and my new Pink Floyd The Wall CD, and Relaxing (If yo know what I mean). I was more then happy, and to this day that's still just fine for me. CD's sound more then good enough and play everywhere these days now and I really have no complaints.
Hey, if you want one, great, go Buy one. It'll help people keep their jobs.
Well there's no force involved, people can buy stuff or not. depending on their perceived needs.
