Sprint's pink Instinct shows up on Best Buy's site for outrageous price

We'd pegged early January for the release of a pink Samsung Instinct on Sprint's airwaves, and Best Buy's doing everything it can to help us hold the line on that with a new "Coming Soon" page advertising just such a product. Unfortunately, they're asking a whopping $599.99 for the pleasure of being the first kid on your block with this thing, but the off-contract pricing in Best Buy's system is usually way out of whack -- we wouldn't worry about paying anything close to $200 on contract by the time you actually step into the store.

Perhaps this is a place-filler price, used to enter the device into Best Buy systems without knowledge of the exact MSRP. Other stores normally use values in the thousands of dollars or use the release date as a price, but I could see how a $599 price tag would serve the same purpose.

It's not worth $600. Maybe about $400 is better. I've tried a friend's instinct. It's kinda awkward to use, but that's just me. I like buttons on my phone.

nah the Instinct is actually pretty good now that all the updates have occured. But to come out with last years phone, in a gender-biased color is just suicide. People want the Instinct-2 by now... and girls that want the instinct either already have it in Black, or got one in black for xmas. At the very least they should have released this phone for xmas.

This handset will be released in February, presumably around valentine's day. Sprint always releases some limited edition handset in pink for valentine's day. As for retail price? At a bare minimum, i'm sure $99 with a 2 year agreement, possibly $129, through that's a bit unlikely.

And as a former Best Buy Mobile employee, yes, their outright prices are waaaay ridiculous. I mean, a Touch Pro for $750? That's just obnoxiously arrogant.
