Ainol serves up 4.3-inch V6000HDB portable media player
Ainol's V6000HDB is about six times better than the V1000 and roughly twice as awesome as the V3000, but we suppose those metrics are really neither here nor there. The Chinese portable media player packs a 4.3-inch 480 x 272 resolution display, 4GB of internal storage space, support for RMVB, AVI and FLV video files and HD (720p) output. Outside of that, the nitty-gritty is lost in translation, but for just 399 yuan ($58), we've heard plenty.

You can get them off of ebay or some sites like ebuyer. if you can go to google and search in the shopping section you'll find a list sites. Just don't go to dodgy sites.
loocas @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:27AM
If it had a HDMI I'd grab one instantly for a secondary camera display for my DIY pro-camcoder rig :)
Gnormie @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:27AM
4.3" 280x272? Ouch... I'd hope for at least 800x480 at 4"+. And HD playback is nice! But if there's only 4GB on board and no expansion options it's extremely limited...
thethirdmoose @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:45AM
There are no 4"-5" players with an HD screen... I doubt there are even any 7"ers.
fh @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:47AM
480x272*
Also, I know it's not popular to look at the pictures, but maybe you should take a look: I spy a microSD card slot.
Gnormie @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:52AM
@thethirdmoose
The old Archos 605 with a 4.3" screen had a 800x480 resolution. I think that 480x272 on a 4.3" is just a little too small and the next logical (and economical) step up is 800x480
@fh
Thanks for the correction, not sure why but I thought the microSD card slot was a volume rocker.
Skazer @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:23PM
It's $58. You can't expect it to have top of the line specs...
thethirdmoose @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:46AM
Their next model may well be over 9000.
Henry @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:22PM
I demand rule 34 on ainol naow!
Shugg @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:50AM

brandon @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:57AM
You mean I can get ainol for only $58????
Rob @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:56AM
What does it matter if it can do 720p if it can't actually display it at that resolution?
Gnormie @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:59AM
TV-out
htd @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:01PM
lower resolution now? still no touch screen?
brandon @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:43PM
If it had a touch screen, would it be called iTouchAinol?
Mr. Ford @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:17PM
@Brandon
I really wanted to make that comment, but I just couldn't get it to come together. You, good sir, deserve comment of the day!

Are there any units like this with a double-din mounting kit for a car? I'm working on a carpc at the moment and am looking for a display, there is a really nice 7" touchscreen on mini-box that might do the trick.
Phour ZwanZig @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:36PM
your better of w/ a 7".. Ive been looking into building a CarPC lately and from what Im finding, most 7" touch panels fit a double din really good..
Shugg @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:24PM
Is there anyone complaining about this product,,?come on $58,y'all some cheap a$$ mofos,.I would never buy it though,.
Wishmaster @ Jan 3rd 2009 2:11PM
How can it output HD signal through minijack? I ask cause on this picture there is a minijack hole and it is signed HDTV. I tried to search the internet to find answer on this but without success. Maybe someone here will be able to answer my question.
Gerii @ Jan 3rd 2009 3:25PM
Over Component.
Click on the "Read" link and scroll down to see the cable.
Mark @ Jan 3rd 2009 2:22PM
The Ainol V3000 has 800x480 resolution, so this is NOT twice as awesome.
Kinger @ Jan 3rd 2009 2:28PM
It doesn't mention MKV's .. do you think if it does 720p it would support MKV?
FILA @ Jan 3rd 2009 3:21PM
like 4GB is enough, well thats enough for one 720p high def movie i can take with me and play on a tv.
Kinger @ Jan 3rd 2009 3:50PM
the average 720p movie for me is about 6.5 GB

This company is probably in it for the kicks. Seriously, they have an ASTERISK as part of the logo!
Unknown @ Jan 3rd 2009 6:44PM
brushing up on my chinois, I was able to find from the Ainol site that they also have a V6000HDG model which is
a 5" screen at 800x480 @ 24 bits They also mention (print/photo) some kind of e-reader type functionality.
Unknown @ Jan 3rd 2009 6:47PM
.... there also appears to be a 4.3" HDA model which is also 800x480
mcdj @ Jan 3rd 2009 6:45PM
Is it pronounced "anal" with a Cockney accent?
Gylman @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:44PM
I own the V3000. Got it from eBay, no hassles to ship to Canada.
Works well, feels good in the hand, and beautiful display. No serious problems with it.
A couple of firmware upgrades since release have been useful improvements.
It supports a microSD card, can be used as an external drive, and so putting data on it is easier than with an iPhone or an Archos.
However, the V3000 is 800 x 480 display. Why would they make an inferior resolution model, I have no idea.
The main thing the V3000 lacks is good codec support. I suspect the 6000 would have the same issues.
TO @ Jan 4th 2009 8:34AM
Hi Gylman,
I see you have a V3000. I was looking to buy one off ebay as well, however have heard the video playback can sometimes be jerky?? Have you noticed this?? Does the v3000 support ipod h264 format mp4 videos??
Thank you

I wonder if you were to mod a Wii to fit with the Ainol if you would create something on the odd side of disturbing...
And yes, my first post is a Wii joke, but hey it fit well with Ainol jokes.
Ah! that was another one! on a ROLL.
