dreamGEAR unveils Warbeast guitar controller, Quad Dock controller chargers
The perfect complement to ION's Drum Rocker kit, dreamGEAR has unveiled the WarBeast wireless guitar controller for PlayStation 3 and PS2. It's compatible with Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and Rock Revolution games and features a removable faceplate for customization and removable neck and headstock for easier transport. Officially licensed by B.C. Rich, the company is touting this axe as the first and only full-sized guitar controller on the market -- although we bet Starpex and maybe even Gene Simmons would beg to differ. It's now available on the company's website for $130, though if you can't afford that Rock n' Roll lifestyle, Amazon's got it for $90. They've also got a new Quad Dock Xbox 360 controller charger and some refreshed versions of their PS3, Wii lineup, which aren't out yet -- according to Electronista they'll go for around $30 or $40.

Does no one else agree that the more you get into these cool realistic instruments the less cool you look?
amiamin @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:48AM
Yea your right
Max @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:26AM
might have something to do with the fact that you're not actually playing an instrument
thrasher @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:05AM
Ug!!! i dont get it with this game. never played it and will never playit. why not waste money on a real guitar and do something with that urge to shred? I've never seen such money and devotion thrown away to pretend to be a musician. I would rather buy my kid the real thing and maybe they will go somewhere with it. and if nothing else, you can actually resell it, not like this - when the game finally dies off everyones going to have a closet full of fake instruments that are useless junk lol
on a side note: BCRich is making a comeback now that the company that killed them has sold them to someone who cares -10 string mockingbirds are back!!!
strider_mt2k @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:21AM
Agreed.
The more I get into these the less cool you look.
Trial @ Jan 3rd 2009 10:09AM
@Thrasher
You know, if your kid gets good enough at Guitar Hero, they might go somewhere! Just look at this young prodigy:

SKI @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:35AM
1) If you never played it and "don't get it" then shut up.
2) Why can't you resell the game if you don't like it?
3) There is a little thing called nostalgia, as the instruments age and break there will still be people looking for the old games and instruments.
Rocketboy @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:33PM
No kidding. Why waste time and money pretending to shoot people in the head when you can just buy a gun in any bad neighborhood and ACTUALLY shoot someone in the head.
amiamin @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:47AM
That guitar is super sick!!!!
Jon Nelson @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:50AM
I used to have the actual guitar version of that, the BC Rich Warlock. It was pretty damn sweet.
lowdef @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:21PM
warlocks suck ass dude
IsLNdbOi04 @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:49AM
If you can't charge the Wii-mote in that charger w/o having to remove the silicone skin then no thanks.
amiamin @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:56AM
hey that's what i say I'm sick of taking it off then charging it then putting the case back on when i want to play with it...
claude @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:26AM
that innuendo wrote itself i imagine...
arcticpenguins @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:52AM
I feel like if I pulled that out in front of a friend, I would look like a jackass with WAY too much money
Darayz @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:37AM
True, but at least you have a lot of money. Buy new friends.
pcgecko85 @ Jan 3rd 2009 1:41AM
mmm BCRich. Sexy
suprxtragrav @ Jan 3rd 2009 3:06AM
i love how they kept the original colors for the bc rich warlock too, (although it may just be a coincedence due to the color of the original guitar hero les paul controller).
Eddie @ Jan 3rd 2009 3:50AM
Yeah, I own a real BC Rich that's shaped like an axe (See BC Rich Virgin Plat Pro). I would be forced to euthanise someone with it if I saw them "playing" this guitar.
G @ Jan 3rd 2009 4:48AM
I feel sorry for anybody who buys this
Pretol @ Jan 3rd 2009 5:09AM
too bad that you'll still look like a retard pressing 5 buttons in sequence to the pattern on the screen, knowing that a very simple robot can do this much better than you ever have/will.
AMD PR PPL @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:21AM
Uhm, that's kind of a moot point since a robot could easily read and comment articles on engadget as well...
So you look like a retard pressing the buttons, so what? I bet you don't score as often as that cool guy you know that doesn't sit and comment toy guitars on a nerdy blog. Don't take yourself so seriously, really. Please.
Mr. Ford @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:07PM
Robots play real pianos better than anyone that you or I know...
Boy, you are gonna hate that comment in retrospect. You know, when that automatic burger flipping robot takes your job.
Buck @ Jan 3rd 2009 8:37AM
This guitar looks sick and I would love to use it to play world tour. I play real guitar and enjoy playing guitar hero as well. Guitar hero inspired me to learn guitar. I think it is a lot more beneficial for people to be exposed to all types of music; it gets more inspiration from people who never really would pick up a real "instrument." Don't knock people for being able to play guitar hero or rock band lighten up a bit? What kind of hobbies do you guys have that are soooooo much better that playing videogames?
NERV @ Jan 3rd 2009 11:31AM
Finally a guitar controller that isn't gay. The Les Paul isn't too bad but the rest really suck. Now if only the games had much more greater music instead of crappy filler tracks!
Joe @ Jan 3rd 2009 12:34PM
I was able to pick up a Warlock replica guitar on eBay for much less than what they're asking for this thing.
V0LUM3 @ Feb 15th 2009 12:22PM
LMFAO! buy a real guitar. Ha, I'm a drummer, I don't want a real guitar, but having fun w/ a room full of people is nice and I heavily doubt any of them would go "you're gay for having a nice guitar" when we're just having fun.
Quit hatin' either you suck at it or you're too scared that you'll suck at it to try the game.
And the defense that instead of buying it you should buy a real instrument is far and beyond the dumbest diss I've ever heard towards a game.
Instead of playing Madden on your playstation you should go buy some pads and cleats and spend years and years practicing... instead of playing Mario on your Wii you should eat some real shrooms and go play in the sewer... instead of playing as a Marine in COD4 you should go enlist.
It's a game, it's fun, it's relatively cheap when compared to the "real" thing, and the amount of time involved to be good at it is incredibly less than the years you'd have to spend with a real guitar to learn the same thing. Does it bother you that we're having fun at it? Did my smug look when I played through Green Grass and High Tide make you think I'd take this show on the road and try to make a living at it?
Anyone who has a problem with people playing with a plastic guitar have a sad, miserable existence and need to get their heads out of their a@#.
Aranpreet Bhangal @ Jan 3rd 2009 4:41PM
That's actually a good looking fake axe, the Les Paul isn't bad but that should be a pack in.
Aaron @ Jan 3rd 2009 7:41PM
My first guitar was a Warlock back in the mid-80's. But it was purple - what was I thinking. Actually wish I had that now. No idea where it went.
Just checked amazon for this. Seems to be $150, unless I'm missing something. And a real BR Rich for $100 more. Pretty sweet.
Kevin @ Jan 4th 2009 12:16AM
Is it a 7string? I love my 7 string plat pro warlock
